Well I'm sorry, or maybe glad, to say that Eric has now stopped wanting me to cut his hair and will only go to a professional now, so my influence over his hair only lasted about 18 months, I have hung up the clippers!

Ha....valiant effort! Clippers must go against the grain or direction of hair growth. So, use the #2 guard and go from bottom to top (as you did) and from front to back on top.
