    Toy grade car have a lot of unnecessary plastic. Id full teardown the entire chassis & body & break out the rotary kit. Get all that extra weight off. Sand down the plastic tires & add a thin layer of rubber tape around the tires. This makes the car faster without changing the electronics. Ive done this on few Jada Toys cars. Of course changing the electronics gives you more speeds, control range & proportional speed & steering.

    Thanks for the insights and inspiration, I'm just having a ponder on some 1/10 racking, it feels like the 3d print method would be ideal but I think to hold some heavy scale brick pallets at about 1.5kg a pallet I might need a metal version, though to print and sort the metal versions on pcbway is eye wateringly expensive 🙂 I've subbed up, I'm looking forward to checking out your other vids.

    Thx, I think if you printed them in PETG instead of PLA they would be plenty strong enough.

    @@Pezzapoo Thanks that sounds promising, I've been thinking about getting a bamboo labs 3d printer for a while but have been holding off, with this I'm tempted to try out the PETG prints and with luck they will work and if not then perhaps try to do a sneaky reinforcement of them on the inside with some metal strips. Its well worth the shot, to print out a big rack system using pcbway just in aluminum looks pretty pricey.

    @@Pezzapoo That stacks up with the bits I've been hearing online, they do look great, specially for someone like myself with no experience with 3d printing. I do a bit of 3dcad here and there from when I was a youngster so I'm hoping with a friendly 3d printer like the P1S and with my basic cad skills I might be able to wing a decent looking rack system. Its took me some years to refine my scale brick manufacturing down to creating a strong out door scale brick, so to have the pallets of them on some good looking racks would really look good. Its just the weight of them that concerns me really, at 1.5kg a pallet, it would be nice to have three or four stacks high of pallets, but 12kg on a thin rack feels ambitious 🙂

    Soft plastic? You said they were the "Harder plastic from India...", does that mean you can modify them like 1/35 figures, where you can cut an arm and head off, and re-glue them in a different position?

    The modern version German soldiers are way too dark blue plastic. It makes them impossible to see details on. I think using hard plastic on them will also destroy the moulds quicker as well as the old, soft plastic obviously didn't hurt the moulds much as they are still in use.

  • @Pezzapoo
    @Pezzapoo2 ай бұрын

    plastic moulds are made from machined metal mate, that's why plastic production setup costs are very high but the cost of actual production is lower overtime than moulds for lets say Resin or pewter as they are usually galvanised rubber or silicone and need to be made new after so many runs. This method is cheaper to setup but more time consming in man hours and never gets cheaper over time like plastic does.

    Another reason for the reduction of flex is due to the top caps of the shocks hitting the chassis. In the position you have your shocks mounted, take a look at the top caps when you flex the chassis. I added a spacer in between the shock and the chassis along with longer screws and the top caps no longer hit, increasing the original flex that the crawler had.

    8:00 The tank commander is a stolen copy of Tamiya's 1/16 M-26 Pershing figure and his pose is easily understood if you look at Tamiya's box art: The commander figure has his right hand on the edge of the open hatch lid and his left hand is resting on the hatch opening. Easiest and most effortless way to depict your Oddball figure is his pose during the assault on the railway yard--you just won't see him because he's in full "buttoned up" mode. 😄🙈
