    At 2:38.... this guys knows what the heck hes is talking about. He mentions moving the rest in the direction of the way you broadheads or (bare shaft) plane. There is only one guy I know of that says this method is right. He is the inside out precision channel Kellen. Even the black and green archer that everyone loves( his video of him shootingin a corn fieldis probably below in related videos) "says move rest opposite of the broadhead". Hes wrong. By that logic why not just sight in for broadheads and be done. Man I'm blown away that I finally found a video like this concerning tuning. Right on!👍👍👍👍

    Hello Kris, I sure could use your help. I am getting a wicked tail right tear out of my Evo Nxt 33 and have tried everything except shiming the cams (too advanced for me). I've tried 350 & 300 spines. The only way I can achieve a bullet hole through paper is if my rest is way, way left of center shot. Hope you get this. Please let me know what other info you need to help me get this right. Thanks so much!!!

  • @kriswall1860
    @kriswall18604 жыл бұрын

    If it's really bad, like an inch or so, then shimming is the only option. You can always experiment with point weight too. It will move the tail end around more than you think. Move grip to the right if you haven't already.

  • @jonwenner9151
    @jonwenner91514 жыл бұрын

    Thanks for your super-fast response! Now that I rewatch your video, I'm measuring my center shot at 1" from the cutout riser, which you find normal for these PSE's (the tip of my arrow is noticeably left of center of the limb bolts but maybe that's just how these bows are)? This is my first PSE, I've always shot Mathews & Hoyts.

  • @kriswall1860
    @kriswall18604 жыл бұрын

    @@jonwenner9151 I didn't measure my current Mach 1 or my Evoke 31. I just center it down the limb bolts or with the front stabilizer and then move rest 1/8" either way of that if needed. If that doesn't fix my lateral tears, then I shim it.

  • @kriswall1860
    @kriswall18604 жыл бұрын

    @@jonwenner9151 No, it's not hard and if your tear is pretty small, then you could probably just do one cam. You'd want to do the one with the most lean and move it to the right. All you need to move is one of the small shims from the right side to the left side.

  • @edheinlein3747

    I was hoping you would have to shim this bow so I could learn something for my PSE Carbon Air. My bow was SO out of whack from the factory. I had to take it to the pro shop (where they would not let me observe, or explain what they were doing to my bow), just to get it to paper tune. I later found out that the evolve camed bows almost ALL require shimming! If PSE isn't going to have their bows center shot from the factory, and require shimming, why the heck don't they at least provide a FREE shim kit with instructions, so the new owner can get their $1500 bow to a point that they can then fine tune it? I have searched high and low for instructions on how to shim my bow but to no avail. Thanks alot PSE for creating a situation that guarantees their vendors additional income......like the bow didn't cost enough already!

    Glad I found this video as I'm trying to determine if my problem is related to a bad tune and cam lean. I have owned the Carbon Knight at 60lbs for the last few years and it's still my current hunting bow. It is very accurate and an easy shooter. I did purchase a Realm X in 70lbs end of last year when I was out of town because the shop owner called to me as I was leaving and said he was marking down the bows to $800 so even though it wasn't my local shop and I was out of town I pounced on it which in retrospect may not have been a good decision. We had a very well known target bow shop here who did excellent set-ups and so that was why I did buy figuring I'd just take it to him. Little did I know that they were struggling and about to close shop so the set-up wasn't great I would find out later. My bow does shoot very accurately but it felt like garbage on the draw and even though I didn't draw this specific bow at the shop I had pulled a few of the new Bowtech's my friends had that were 70lbs and they were easier to draw at 70lbs than my Carbon Knight at 60lbs so I thought nothing of taking his last Realm X which was 70lbs. I finally took it to another Bowtech shop that has a good reputation and they found I had a bad bearing in the flex guard so Bowtech is sending a new bearing. The bearing was rough but not seized. He also said my cam lean was out of control and showed me how the laser barely hit the outside axcel of the opposite cam and then where it should hit per the manual. He didn't put it on the draw board yet to verify the timing was on at full draw but at rest the timing lined up pretty good. So all that history is to ask the final question: Is there a chance that my Realm X was really hard to draw at 70lbs because of the cam lean and bad bearing or did I just buy bow that's too heavy and my friends really aren't set at 70lbs? To give some reference I'm a 31.5" draw, 6', 215lbs, and workout hard on a regular basis. Actually, last Friday I was doing sets of bent over dumbbell rows and my current weight is 70lb dumbells for a sets of 12. The first 8 reps are easy and than by the 12th I struggle. I use good form by retracting with my back and not my biceps. Not sure if that additional info is helpful but obviously I'm confused by this bow being a struggle you would think I'd be able to pull it at least once without almost blowing a vein. I get my bow back in a week but was looking to pick your while waiting. My cables are routed right but on the draw board at my club I noticed mid draw that the cables rubbed but that's probably because of the lean right?

  • @kriswall1860
    @kriswall18604 жыл бұрын

    I just saw you asked another question, but i can't find it to comment on it. If you can't shim the cams any further to the left (you likely could if you have a .010 shim in a custom shim kit) then the only things left you can do is move the cable guard (start with moving it counter clockwise) or rotate your grip to the left on the back of the riser. You'd want to use more of your thumb pad and not shoot off your lifeline in your hand. I saw you said you've changed arrows with no luck, but don't overlook changing just the point weight. It can affect tears too just by changing the way the front of the arrow tries to get behind the string. Don't discount that.
