Now that is how a diesel engine in a truck should start no matter how cold it is. I had a 1998 12 valve Cummins and I never plugged it in the only thing I would do is cycle the glow plugs 2 time's and it would fire right up.

Is it bad to start the engine with the engine break on ? Is it normal to have white smoke coming out in cold temperatures like that?
@flippingugly3063 Жыл бұрын
Trucks at 352,000 miles as of now 9/2022... Engine brake is actually the turbo with turbo-vanes moving to put a load on the engine. It's auto so you don't turn this off or on. It's normal to have white smoke when cold...

Watching Tesla's charge up at Walmart doesn't look like fun. Maybe someday there will be viable options for electric trucks. Need to have 500 mile range, and ability to charge to full-range in 10 minutes. That's how long it takes to fill my diesel tank. Also needs 500 mile range when -20F.... lots of battery juice used on electric cars for heat here in Minnesota. Good testing grounds up here in that regard.

How much lbs can these 3500 Cummins haul?
@tedwardo1233 жыл бұрын
Heaviest load I've hauled is a Deere 510C backhoe... 7500lb trailer and maybe 18000lbs for the machine = about 25,000 lbs. getting moving requires lots of throttle... 68RFE handled the shifting no problem. The engine braking via the turbo went a little overboard trying to slow me down. As for legal-limits it depends on single rear axle, dual rear axle, Tranny choice, etc. Towing chart link here: www.ramtrucks.com/assets/towing_guide/pdf/2015_ram_3500_towing_charts.pdf
