I love how they provide enough brush material to use the motor for three centuries. But at least it's "universal" so it will work no matter whose system prevails: Edison's or Teslas. ;)

The reason why they stopped making these just like many others was mostly because of their inefficiency. Having such electromechanical moving parts meant lot of power losses. Thus all shifted now to power electronics. But still i wont mind having this bad boy if i could get my hands on one😂

Wouldn't have left those old textilecoated wires in there buddy. Anyway, this was more like an almost pure cosmetic refurbishment. Remarkable state that old thing was still in.

when turning the contacts force slight eccentric to be introduced, I use 0.05mm brass shim on one side of the center, why? this will force the graphite to wobble enough to prevent dust, oil... from building up making them stick but not enough to damage them. also that is more or less a perfect forg blower

I am 57 and I remember when I was 6 or 7 grandma had an old beast of an upright vacuum that would shock the shit out of you at least once when using it! It was as tall as I was and probably heavier.

Lastly, could you sell that for $2,000 today? Maybe. Maybe to someone that takes real pride in their tools, seeing them as an extension of themselves. Especially if they retired wealthy and love puttering in their shop, etc.

Oh and you can still find dust collection bags that are either from the era and in great shape, or still being made for old models that can be adapted. Although that pillow case looks pretty dang authentic to me!

The knife sharpening wheel on the front is a tell from a long ago time. People assumed that you had common sense back then When you bought a machine on wheels with a spinning shaft with a rock on the end, they assumed you were smart enough NOT to let it tangle up the cord, your clothing, the cat's tail or juniors hand. Not so today.
