why would pet smart offer a check valve? not home depot

This works. Soap had kept going back down to the container. The pump was working fine except the pump's internal valve went bad. This essentially replaces that valve. Now it works great. I moved the check valve closer to the pump.

Wish i had seen this video years ago. I bought a tumbler. It does work but most of the good nutrients drain out of it way too quickly when it's time to keep it moist. So i have a bucket under to collect the compost tea. I save it and add it to the areas I'm going to plant in over fall and winter even over the snow to help get that area nutrients to soak in the existing ground. Also i don't get as much compost as i need. I have these same totes so this is a game changer for me 5 years later😊 late is better than never so thank you so much!!

Do you add worms?
@HATERSdontBOTHERmeАй бұрын
I think with it being in the ground and having holes in the bottom, will allow worms to migrate up into the bins..

There's a little ball inside that goes bad and stops working. This little ball which covers the intake is the culprit when the pump stops working.

can you use 2 check valves instead of one? Is that silicone sealant used for kitchen sinks? Did you seal the hole you drilled in the large container of dish soap?

I do the even lazier man's method. I have less, way less holes, in my tote. I fill the tote all summer and top it off in August and again in November and then I don't touch it until May or June. I have the totes in a spot that gets winter sun. I might water them once or twice if I remember. Super lazy, takes forever, but the cycle works for me.

What i like about plastic pins is storage convenience plus you don't have to poke holes in it you can just put a lid on it and forget about it for months or years and eventually it will decompose down

Great video! I live in DFW area, so it is hot here most of the year, and this is the best compost method for me. I might add that I use the manual tiller from Amazon to mix it. I also tried to compost in a 32 gallon trash can, but it was very inefficient, too deep. 40-50 gallon bins are the best for me.

Hi, a few questions. How soon can I get compost ready in about 25 degrees Celsius temperature. I plan to turn it every week and will break every scrap to about 4 inches pieces. Also worry about the stink because my neighbors yard is close by to the container. Will the cockroaches get in through the holes and multiply in my yard. Our community has had way too many outdoors in the drains this summer. Thanks

Instead of silicon, glue, etc, put a zip tie on each side of the check valve.
