    1: The video you linked is from True North- and Faulkner is more an opinion journalist, who has never lied about his biases. 2: Yes, students have the right to protest, they don't have the right to *stay in canada* which is essentially what the protest was about. They're not protesting bad schooling, they're protesting having to uphold the *temporary* part of their visa application. So what Faulkner said here is correct- they didn't come to study, they came to work (applied under false pretense) 3: He doesn't need to interview them all. There have been recorded studies, published this year which has demonstrated that something like 8/10 International Students are in courses that do not help to alieviate Canada's work shortages. They're mostly in business and accounting, or other tech fields, and we don't need that. On top of this, we can see (with our eyes) what jobs these students end up filling- which does seem to be overwhelmingly in Fast Food and Service industries (jobs which should be going to high schoolers and citizen students). 4: Canada is not a "Land of Immigrants" this is a false slogan that has been shared in order to try to diminish the concerns of citizens (in Canada and the USA) in regards to immigration and culture-clash. Canada was suilt by SETTLERS. People that came to a place that had nothing, and built something that was good enough that people wanted to move here. Our population growth was very slow and steady up until the 70s, and that growth was more organic based on birth rate, and yes, some immigrants that worked with what was already here. The multi-cultural experiement was started by Trudeau Sr (coincidently at the same time as the USA and Europe... hmm, funny how that is /s). And this experiment was put into overdrive in the last 10 years and has caused faith in the system to erode. Immigrants aren't "building" our country anymore. They're collapsing it. We've been getting more "immigrants" and yet the country's productivity has been in freefall for years. If they're an economic boon, why did we do better when there were less? Could it in fact be, because the immigrants we're getting are less suitable to be here than before, or don't want to contribute? Mull it over. 5: Natural births took a dive when our immigration starting increasing- huh funny how that is. We don't have kids because it's become too expensive. Our government set up our social programs as a ponzi scheme in order to benefit Baby Boomers more than any other generation, and the younger gens (X, Millenials) were essentially financially crushed. This wasn't an accident. And having younger immigrants doesn't mean that 60% should all come from India. 6: Absolutely the students are being duped. Consultancies and colleges/universities are equally to blame for being pigs at a trough. They became greedy, overbloated and now they want to complain about the faucet being turned off. 7: There is no true labour shortage in Canada- we have citizens who are unemployed, underemployed, or overemployed. We have an issue where the government has incentivized companies to employ non-white and other minority groups over whites (especially white men), and they have also highly incentivized hiring foreign workers, by giving tax credits or subsidizing salaries. The "labour shortage" is because companies no longer want to pay the full cost of a workers salary, and don't want to hire full time employees in order to avoid benefits, unions etc. 8: Medical schools followed the same model as other colleges and universities, and bloated their foreign student openings while diminishing their seats for citizen students in order to get more money for the administration. Do you honestly not think that Canadian born kids want to be doctors? Secondly, our provinces fired nurses and doctors for not taking the jab (which has since been openly proven unsafe). Most of those faculty still do not have their jobs back. Thirdly, in places where the gap in medical is filled by foreign doctors, there is a drastic uptick in malpractice. Ireland for example has a large issue where 80% of all malpractice is from foreign trained doctors. India's standard is not as high as Canada's, and we shouldn't pretend otherwise. 9: Becoming CEOs of Microsoft or Google is a terrible show for talent- CEOs in those companies are open-facing puppets for shareholders only. Neither of those people have any actual power in the organization, and no tech knowledge is required. They only need to know how to grease palms, and they likely paid for the position (this is a statement as a person in tech, and is related to all tech CEOs, not just these two). They're just expendable fall-guys. 10: The labour shortage paper specifically highlights construction- tradeskills are definitely in need, as kids in school are consistently being pushed towards office jobs, not trade. This isn't for a lack of people, it's mis-matching in early education. I've known people who worked in tech and retrained in trades because there were more options for work. And these international students aren't going into trades. 11: Driving is a great topic- there was a recent expose from CBC I think which specifically talked about Indian run circles which gave people a full G drivers license without actually doing courses or passing any tests. Our roads have become increasingly unsafe, and the quality of drivers specifically for Transport Trucks have also gone down drastically (and whenever I've seen the bad drivers in person, they've been Indian). How about, don't drive until you've done all the correct courses, and put in the time? I woudn't drive in the UK during a vacation, because I have enough concern for the safety of locals that I just woudn't. Why should immigrants? It doesn't matter if you live in a country or not, if you don't know the rules of the road, and you're not comfortable driving on it- don't! One of my highschool friends was scared of driving and she didn't get her full G until she was 30- she tried for 13 years. 12: And why should we allow for a FULL generation for people to get used to living here? How hard is it not to treat the area as a trash heap? How hard is it to not abuse our social programs? It's not a general lack of knowledge, it's entitlement. There are videos of Indian immigrants openly BOASTING about the number of new Indians in Canada and talking about colonizing the country. There are posts on reddit and such with the same mentality. If there are Indians that SINCERELY want to be here, and to adapt, then you have my sympathy. You came at a bad time, and maybe if it had been 10 years early, or 10 years later, your reception would be different. Unfortunately many of us are not interested in being nice about the open hostility being shown towards white people and citizens of western countries. Like we owe the world for things we didn't do, and it's just something we have to put up with. The racism is a symptom of what we've been given- it's not coming from nowhere.

    This may be long winded, but here’s my(I think reasonably open minded response) opinion to our current immigration policy. First, there are so many entry level jobs that most Canadians don’t even want to do, and these students generally fill those gaps. It’s like how in Florida, after Desantis deported a bunch of people who basically just pick berries in scorching heat, dig holes and do tough jobs that they noticed things weren’t moving as smoothly as they once were. They learned the hard way. Second I’d say is that I’ve travelled a decent amount. Wherever I go I try and blend in/be mindful of how everyone operates. Hong Kong is insane, but they do it. They don’t signal, but nobody speeds. It’s like they operate as an organism. I saw it and respected it instead of being like “why do they drive so crazy here???” Thirdly, the men. I have four sisters, and a pretty attractive blonde pale girlfriend. The only men I see that just ogle her in such a gross way are the men you’re speaking of, and even with an open minded attitude towards immigration and culture, it’s like they don’t realize we might be a young country, but we have ways we live. I think any sudden, drastic change to a country’s overall demographic during the financial times we’re all facing makes it easier to pick on an immigrant instead of who’s actually responsible. My main thing is if you’re coming here, please don’t just throw your trash out of your car on the street(I saw it like three days ago), and just try to remember you’re in an entirely different country/continent. Indian people are loyal and hard working, and we need people; just not so much at once.

  • @meganfraser810
    @meganfraser8104 күн бұрын

    If they were loyal they would have stayed in their own country to make it better. They've moved to a safer, cleaner and more well-off country in terms of social benefits, and are using those benefits without making any changes or improvements on their own part. Some do legitimately want to do better, but right now too many view Canada as an easy place to set up Enclaves, where they never need to meet our standards and never need to integrate. The problem isn't that they "forget" they're not in India, it's that they don't care.

    Everybody who come to Canada on student/Work permit know the fact that getting PR and Citizenship is uncertain. There are chances of getting it and also risk of not getting it. Also, they sign a legal form that they are not coming here to stay. PR and Citizenship are privilege and not a right for immigrants. Until now Canada have invited lot of students and work permit holders via different streams. Because of the high volume of immigrants, the Canadian healthcare and housing has already broken, and inflation has gone high that even the people who have been already living here are struggling. There are roughly 550000 students who came to Canada this year and it keeps increasing every year, 99% of them coming here to get PR and Citizenship. This will become a disaster soon. IN order to keep a check on the number of people, who come voluntarily, it is Canadian government's decision to reduce the PR pathways. I welcome it. The students have no right to demand work permit extension and ask for PR pathways provided they know that it is a privilege. They have right to protest. They should not protest for "work permit extension" instead they should find other options to get PR. This is not going to help, and they are setting bad examples.

    I am ethnically Indian. Born in Canada. And while i'm sure that its only a few bad apples, it's those bad apples that make it look like the Indian immigrants here don't seem to want to excel with the opportunity that they are given. They don't look around and see what Canadian culture is, let alone try and respect it. Even if they do stand in line, breathing down the neck of the person in front is not acceptable. Personal space. If I'm paying for my purchase, why are you shoulder to shoulder with me in front of the card machine? Why throw garbage on the ground when trash cans are available? Why forget ingredients on my sandwich, put too much sauce, and a stack of cheese on one half? No pride in work, and very very slow service without so much as a smile. I'm all for them wanting to live in this country, but please, learn HOW to live in this country. Our standards are high. If you want to be accepted, meet the standard. simple.

    I'm not trying to be mean as I say this. I'm wanting to tell students what many lifelong Canadians have experienced recently. Maybe it will shed a light somewhere in regards to 2024 changes. Since 2020, international students have been flocking to a educational system that many Canadians now feel was used (by many of them) as a loophole-to-immigration. Students utilizing schooling as a back-door (not front-door) ticket to Canada. Swarming a system that was not not NOT designed to be about EVERY international student wanting Permanent Residency. Now all Canadians have clued in that Canada's post secondary education system has (in 4 years time) turned into what they now are 'jokingly' calling EDUGRATION. Something that the PUBLIC schools especially were not PRIMARILY created for. Plus 'edugration' (public or private) was NEVER approved by everyday Canadians. Plus what about Ghost Consulting that Canada told India to halt? Canadians want the $ greedy agents in other countries to stop MARKETING & LYING to their own people about access to PR or citizenship … or accommodation/jobs … in places like Canada being relatively easy (to get). And for any people living in western countries to be ashamed of themselves if they're getting greedy too. Anyone doing things to make $ off of people's PR desires. At best, there is a 25% chance of gaining PR (better odds if you are masters/medicine etc.). Are all international students truly Scholars … or more-so Economic Migrants? Who BORROWED $ to buy their way closer to the head of the immigration line? To say all the students or their consultants back home have not been at times 'gaming' Canada's education programs to gain western PR or $ is ridiculous. Students have contributed to Canada's housing crisis because 97% came-to-stay ... not just visit with their temporary STUDY permit. This extreme NEVER existed at schools 4+ years ago. What about the IELTS spouses? Anchor babies? Fraud? False asylum claims? What about Canadian food banks & charity services being recklessly advertised on YT in Indian languages? What about Canadian housing being scooped up en-mass as investment vehicles by/for internationals? What about home rental/boarding signs stating "vegetarians only can apply"? What about Indian nationals buying local businesses then putting Indians only in the key positions while also drastically changing work practices that include working longer hours for less $ and the Caste System? Canadians are worried about this because more & more are experiencing it firsthand. Even in small towns. Then throw in all the Sikh vs Hindu violence/extortions across Canada. Diasporas stirring up tribal hatreds (in Canada) … even though it all stems from their ancestral home. How can peace be found anywhere with this in play? Plus the Canadian government recently launched investigations in regards to foreign interference in Canadian elections. All stemming from Asia continent. Canadians are so so so not used to all this. So many, who have embraced multi-culturalism and immigration for decades are now VERY worried and fearful. All are praying it doesn't turn into great anger. Canadians want multi-culturism to succeed and for all people (including immigrants) to be okay. Everyone I know is VERY happy with IRCC's recent changes (reductions & multifaceted investigations etc.). Including multi-generational long-term Asian-Canadians where many have been the MOST upset (by all of this). PS Canadians are aware that some great students are going through hell. And know Canada is partially to blame which hurts Canadian hearts. But bottom-line, Canada decides what needs to be done in Canada. Do you see Canadians protesting in other countries (that is not their own) making demands for themselves? No. Do Canadians now see primarily South Asians protesting in Canada, making demands (due to IRCC pumping it's immigration brakes because it REALLY HAS TO)? Yes. If 36,000,000 Canadians travelled to India, since 2020, with the primary goal of being able to stay there permanently, that would raise India's population by 2.65%. Recent migrators after PR … especially international students ... have raised Canada's population higher than 2.65%. Changes (& probable deportations) are occurring in 2024, for HUGE reasons. In Canada, UK, Australia and other western countries too.
