    To this day, toor has SERIOUS quality control issues. Its been years and they still have major QC problems. At the price point of their blades, it is absolutely 100% unacceptable. And they still leave out sheath clips, etc, and make you purchase separately. Very poor business model. Toor Knives is a hard pass

    Sorry, the Apache falcon that I own 3 of is actually a scaled up version of TOPs Pathfinder School knife, that is a 4 inch blade and was designed as a GP knife. This knife is the exact knife but slightly smaller. Many years later the design was updated with a 6.5 inch blade and endorsed by Snake Blocker. Funny how a GP bushcraft hunting knife characteristic translates to a fighting knife. I do like and enjoy the Apache Falcon, as it fits my XXL size hands and its ergonomics,

    @@Bladeunion5716 yeah I just got the utility crusher and I love it. I emailed them about the field…… oh well maybe they will make something close here soon. I am also very happy about the quality of the sheath. Most knives come with doo doo sheaths but this winkler one is amazing. It’s my new edc and I’m very happy with it.

    It’s a GP knife that has the ability to be used to drain cool aid…very organic grip, blade is a Bowie style , the guard actually cradles your hand and fingers allowing for a strong purchase… FYI trenders it’s not a axe, it’s a knife… 6 inch is barely long enough to reach pump and air sacks. Ideally a 8 inch double edge blade similar to a EK commando is ideal for deep tissue. I love the Apache Falcon, good GP blade… for big hands as well..

    I have the root jank shank pikal version… I hate that they put the padding in the sheath. It’ll eventually get hooked by the blade and then obstruct the knife going in. Once in the adhesive gets on the blade. I wish they would leave it out

    The biggest issue I've found with HFB is the limited to no stock. They do a weekend "drop" with new items but they literally sell out in minutes. Guys have had blades in their cart about to pay and then they get a sold out message. Buying a blade should not bring this level of anxiety. I hear the build list is 5+ years long. Ive purchased all my 3 lol hfb second hand from a fb group. Like, forget about trying to read any descriptions of blades on drop day. That blade will be gone after the 1st sentence. They are nice blades though

    Thanks for the info about blade wax. I’ve got some knives with D2 steel which have never been wet, never out of the house but are showing spots of corrosion. I’m gonna get some blade wax and treat my knife collection. You video helped out a fellow knife enthusiast today! 👍

    Yes I coat all my blades. Tool steel will rust even in the house if uncoated, especially if you store them in the sheath. Frog lube also works if you have some of that laying around. Happy I could help!

    I have: ESSE 4 w/ clip-point (flat G10) ESEE 4HM ESEE 4 contoured handle (micarta) ESEE 4 contoured handle (G10) ESEE 4 all black (flat micarta) ESEE 4 Dark Earth (flat micarta) ESEE 4 Desert sand (flat micarta) ESEE 4 S35VN (flat micarta) ESEE 4 S35VN (contoured G10) The Flat micarta scales for the all black ESEE 4 are pretty slippery when compared to the flat micarta scales on the Dark Earth and Sand colors. The contoured scales (bit worse with the G10) create hot spots if you’re doing heavy use with the knife (I baton wood x3 a week with an ESEE 4). In conclusion, in my experience the natural flat micarta scales (Dark Earth, Sand, S35VN) are superior to the rest.

    Awesome you really want to pick up this knife how is it holding up after all these months? Honestly I was nervous about that anodized aluminum handles. I hate how the color usually starts to wear off is that the case on this particular knife? It’s just so expensive and I wouldn’t want the color to disappear after handling the knife. I own a serpent, but it has the G10 handles. I would love to hear your thoughts or opinion! Appreciate it so much

  • @Bladeunion5716

    You should show thickness behind the edge by cutting something that would actually be affected by the thickness like cardboard or heavy rubber

  • @Bladeunion5716
    @Bladeunion57165 ай бұрын

    No doubt that would be a good test but you guys wouldn't be able to see the difference through a material like that, paper is so fragile that you can easily see the difference. same as cutting a tomato for example. you can see the difference vs me just saying oh this one was harder.

    I have a couple dozen fixed blades, but my HOG 4.5 is one of my favorites. The HOG is one of two knives in my EDC rotation, the other being a Bradford Guardian that cost twice as much, but still doesn't give me the warm and fuzzies quite like the Tops. I like clean, organic lines, and it was the fun tional anesthetics that first drew me to the HOG 4.5. But it was the comfort and balance that won me over. From the first time I held this knife, I knew it was a keeper. You can definitely tell Gunny Williams did due diligence with the handle design. I have larger than average hands, but the handle fits me as well as it fits my wife, a foot shorter and half my weight. It looks as good as it feels. It does every knife chore I've ever asked of it from field dressing an elk to cutting my fingernails. It is functional and comfortable. I love this knife.
