As a Stokie born and bred, I predict Longton will be bulldozed 2030s. It's a ghost town. Nothing happens, small shops. Only Tesco and Argos is the chain. I went with my mum and nan during early 2010s, it was all beginning to close down. The buildings and kilns are gonna fall down eventually. Saddens me

C'mon its not that bad really. Many affluent towns don't have one bank, Rhyl has at least 3. There must be at least 3 Turkish barbers, and they are always busy. No shortage of haute cuisine either Subway, KFC, MacDonalds and Greggs

Rhyl was a fabulous place for a holiday or night out , untill the landlady's wanted to fill their accommodation all year round and advertised in prisons for inmates to go there on their release , ......it killed the tourist trade dead , ....no a nice place to take your kids anymore, they brought it on themselves

I lived and studied in Stoke on Trent. Worked at Argos in Stafford. Moved to Chester for work. Always travelled via Crewe, exchanging trains at Crewe station. I always remember about my days 2009 to 2013 by watching KZread videos from channels like yours. It’s saddening to see things gotten upside down lately, all the streets are empty with businesses shutdown. I hope things get better soon!

We shouldn't have places like this in the UK. We might no long be in the G5, but we are still in 6th place. Even in terms of GDP pet capita, where we look slightly less impressive. 21st place at £58,880 per person. France is £60,339 and Israel who are in 22nd place are £55,553. So we are far from poor. There should be nowhere in the UK like this.

Why are all these businesses closed down ? Inflation ? Crime ?
@mbak78016 күн бұрын
It is going to be complicated. The internet will cause a lot of closures. Then there are business rates going up. Crime will keep businesses away. Also there is the postcode effect. Many Labour MPs are Scottish. Money earmarked for the north of England ends up going to Scotland where their NHS provision is very well catered for. If you live in the catchment area of Liverpool hospitals and need expensive emergency heart surgery living in England you get the treatment. Live just over the border in Wales and you lose out and probably die. That is all down to budgets and priorities in the NHS. If you have money to invest a walk around the shopping centre is enough for you to decide to spend your money creating jobs elsewhere. Squalor breeds squalor.
