    That is one beautiful book! I love the pages you showed. Made in China....way of the world these days. Cheaper labor, latest technology. Yes, it is so expensive to collect Elvis books these days, and amazing where all those early photos are coming from. I agree with your comments about Elvis always being so relaxed in front of cameras, so patient with both fans and professional photographers. I think he must have realised right from the start how unusually handsome he was, and accepted the fact he would always be photographed.

    Very interesting. I have bought some Friday Music and Music On Vinyl 70's albums recently, (mainly because my old records are popping and crackling a little) but I have to say, my original records from the Seventies sound warmer and more detailed. I don't really understand how recordings under licence from RCA sound so cold compared to the originals. As you say, you have to be careful, (too late for me I fear).. I have ordered 'Good Times' from Music On Vinyl, (because I can't afford the FTD release prices on eBay). Likewise, 'Promised Land' on Friday music. However, this 'newer' Friday Music release is very disappointing with a harsh, treble sound, (to my ears). I personally won't buy anymore Friday Music releases, but hoping MOV's 'Good Times' LP will sound a little better? If I could afford FTD's 'Promised Land Companion LP' and 'Good Times, they would offer the best sound I'm sure, but so expensive on eBay now.

  • @ElvisPresleyVinylCollector
    @ElvisPresleyVinylCollectorАй бұрын

    Thanks for your feedback! Yeah modern vinyl/sound is different as it was back in the day! I think in many cases it would be better to find old records. But is difficult sometimes or too pricy! Old RCA records are Top!

  • @1962Jivatone
    @1962JivatoneАй бұрын

    @@ElvisPresleyVinylCollector The Orange Label 'Music On vinyl' albums that I ordered recently are very impressive. The sound, sounds more like it's coming from an analogue source than Friday Music releases, which sound very digital. The sleeve photos are very clear too. Interesting that the Dynaflex version of Elvis Now sounds better in comparison. I heard more detail on the Music For Vinyl 'Promised Land' LP although as you mention, the original RCA records sound fantastic too. Strangely enough, the Black Label US versions of 'Elvis For Everyone' (1977 re issue) and 'Moody Blue' 1977 RCA US Black Label / Blue vinyl sound so poor compared to the Orange Label versions. Thank you for your reviews. I bought the Speakers Corner versions of From Elvis In Memphis and Elvis is Back after listening to your thoughts on analogue sources previously, and they sound very good also.

    I have been collecting Elvis books, cd, video… and vinyl to a lesser degree since the mid 90’s, when I was about 20. Still collect all FTD, but not too much else. I stopped most of the other stuff a few years ago. Incl bootlegs. I had them all. Still have hundreds of them, all soundboards, most of the AR cd’s, which I’ve collected and sold a few times over, when I sold earlier releases for ones with upgraded sound. Not only have I been a collector but also a completist. And that was very expensive. Looking back, it’s been exciting, but all that stuff has taken so much room, that I don’t have space left, and I wish I had instead hunted for very rare, unique, original, special Elvis collector’s items during a time when these things like that could have still be gotten at a reasonable, sometimes even cheap price, if you use your connections and are persistent and alert. I had all the connections and opportunities plus enough money but somehow didn’t go that route…. And then in time trading lesser stuff for even more rare stuff etc. Nowadays, I still get every music/video release, besides the ones I buy on physical media, lossless but digitally thru friends or torrents, which is only alive and well since about give or take 8 years or so. Another thing, is that honestly… collecting was the most exciting to me in the 90’s and early 2000’s… when labels like Fort Baxter, Madison, Luxor, DAE… were releasing great-sounding cd’s, and one had to really put in an effort to collect all, internationally. All felt like a forbidden fruit, even the record fairs where they put the bootlegs here and there in between regular cd’s, or some guy would sell me Elvis bootlegs literally from the trunk of his car… 😂… Being a collector was a way of life, you belonged in some secret cult or something. Now, it’s all mainstream and kinda boring. STILL love ELvis and enjoy every new unheard alternate take/live track… but it doesn’t feel the same. Back then one would get very excited by getting sent a blank cd-r with rare, unheard Elvis tracks somebody compiled for you from the other side of the world, regular mail. Which you could then use to surprise other fans with. Nothing was easy, you had to go the extra mile. I guess human beings are wired to appreciate things more when they indeed have to go the extra mile ? Just some of my rambling thoughts… 😊

    I've only just discovered this video, what a great topic for discussion! The first Elvis film I saw was GI Blues when I was 12 years old in 1960. Fell in love with him immediately and saw every Elvis film after that as soon as it opened in Melbourne - quite often went to the premiere showing. I think my former husband and I had his movies on VHS tape but when I moved out I didn't take any of those. I didn't have many records, and no videos for 40 years because my second husband wasn't that interested. But now I am on my own and can buy what I like, so I have bought all Elvis' movies on DVD plus many documentaries and shows such as the 68 Special and the Aloha Show. Even though I had seen all the films when they first came out, I hadn't seen them since, so I have been playing them one by one over the past few months, and really enjoying them. There are a couple that I won't bother watching again because I can understand why Elvis was so disgusted with some them! but as for my favourites....not in any order: King Creole, Loving You, Jailhouse Rock, GI Blues, Wild In The Country, Change of Habit.

I get messages from KZread saying my video is blocked in certain countries, but it is always Russia, no other country!! So hard to choose. Some of them are certainly better than others. For instance the awful photo of Elvis on cover of Pot Luck has to be one of the worst photos of Elvis I can think of. The album itself is worthy of a much better picture. All the GOLDEN records are great, in fact all the album covers before his army days❤ Come to think of it A Date with Elvis is probably my favorite from when I was a teenager and used to gaze at that cover and imagine Elvis waiting for me at my front gate in his car❤❤❤❤❤

    I did notice the differece between the original of Elvis X-mas album 1957 and the speakers corner edition, wich I have recently bought. It's a great release, but, the order of the photos in the booklet is different, and the artwork and labels are not 100 percent authentic ( I have the original '57 LP sans sleeve and booklet) like Elvis is Back! for instance. Other than that it is a great release. I just wonder why speakers corner didn't do this more authentic. Maybe Sony didn't give permission for all of this? Also on the spine of the sleeve they've printed 2x LOC 1035 unlike the original only 1x LOC 1035. May seem nitpicking to some of you, but if you do a faithfull reproduction, it should be 99,9 percent like other releases.
