I saw " My honor was loyalty". Incredible movie. I was blessed with a teacher who was WW2 vet, a Ranger, who told us " To study history, military history, you must recognize and appreciate that there are brave men on both sides of any conflict. You can not denigrate their Valor without denigrating your own."

How sad indeed. Makes you want to cry. These men weren't natural enemies. They were ordered to be enemies.

Worked in Germany in the early 70’s with several WWII veterans. They wouldn’t talk about the war, but were hard working men happy with the simplest luxuries of a lower middle class life. They were all in their 50’s which seemed like very old men to me, but did tough manual labor without complaint. One man was captured at Stalingrad and released eight yrs later. He learned some English by watching cowboy westerns. When asked why they fought for Hitler, he said something which stuck with me forever. “Wir was manner der zeit, (we were men of the times). Don’t think for one minute that you would not have done the same as a young man in 1939.

Exactly: they were men of the times. It's difficult to blame them really. They were just doing what they thought was best. That's why war is so awful. Many of these men could just as easily been best of friends. I don't mean to oversimplify but it's still true. sad. very sad.

I only studied German for three years in high school, but wouldn’t it be: “Wir waren Männer der Zeite.”? Thank you for sharing regardless.

As a Canadian whose parents were under nazi occupation for five long years and who knows how the 12th SS dealt with Canadian POWs I have mixed feelings about this film. But at least they got the part about them being in combat against the Canadians right.

They really named one of the characters "Hans von Groebel" thinking they'd get away with it. This is a name of a German officer we used to play in Codename Panzers franchise (Phase One and Phase Two)

No doubt, the Germans fought bravely in Normandy and the 12 SS was no exception. I would like to point out however that the 12th SS was guilty of serveral shocking war crimes against French civilians at Ascq and several Canadian units where they shot prisoners of war. We should not lose sight of how the unit conducted itself in Normandy in these affairs which was nothing more than murder. Let's enjoy these well made films but also let's not get carried away in nostalgia about a group of youths who killed indiscriminatley at the behest of the likes of convicted war criminal and leader Kurt Myer. The Germans have admitted to thier war-time crimes and the country has put it on display in the from of museums for all to see; the shocking brutality of the WW2 regime, to thier credit. I would not like to see history distorted by KZread.

I feel that instead of every Soldier in this short film that is armed with the basic Kar98 (whatever its called you know what im referring to) 5 round bolt action rifle, if instead each of them were equipped and armed with the newest and latest Brilliant Genius German Engineering created and produced, the worlds FIRST ASSAULT RIFLE, the Sturmgewehr 1944, AKA the STG44 Assault rifle. however, still keep the squad leader equipped with the 9mm MP40 submachine gun like is presented accurately in this short film, but everyone else not manning that bad son of a bitch MG42 firing 7.92 Mauser rounds at a rate of 1200 rounds per minute shredding Brits to peices, yeah if you aint manning that MG42, then Dawg you gotta get rid of those wack ass 5 round bolt action Kar98k rifles!!!! could have been providing ACCURATE surpressing fire with nice controlled 3-5 round bursts from their STG44 Assault Rifles with nice 30 round magazine capacities, only requiring the removal of the empty magazine, and grabbing another fresh 30 round magazine from the Soldiers extra magazine pouches on their belt, inserting it, then racking back that satisfying sounding CRACK of the Bolt on that STG44, chambering another 7.92 round in the rifles Chamber ready to continue "STORMING AND ASSAULTING ENEMY POSITIONS ON THE BATTLEFIELD" as the Germans called it.... instead of FIRE...... LONG ASS TIME ELAPSING WHILE HAVING TO WORK THE BOLT ACTION ON THOSE Kar98K riles, and then being OUT after only 5 rounds of fire... SUPER DUPER GAY ASF on Germany's part that they didn't just use that rifle as strictly a SNIPER RIFLE ONLY if it had a TELESCOPING SCOPE ON IT!!! if anything BARE MINIMUM equip all rifleman soldiers with the Semi Automatic Gewehr (whatever the name of those is) rifles some soldiers had.....

yo did a very nice film, very interesting, very poetique, very lovely if i can say. Its interesting to see inside the german army, in particulary in the "Hittler jugend", SS get some bad people that so sure, a large part but they was young people with young mind, very intersting. The only thing is wrong with the film (and its oké any way) it is the voices, there are not well place in the screen, i mean some times its ok and other time we heard that have been made in studio record, but its oké bcs we see its well done anyways :) oh and only the hair or something like that on the girl with the yellow hair. I say this bcs i like you film and i already studie to make some ;) Thx fort this, u make my day :)
