Not looking to make a living with KZread, obviously.
My intentions:
1. Inspire others who are not mechanically inclined to try some of the safer, easier or less expensive ways to mod their ride.
2. Share with my fellow Victory Octane owners what I'm doing with the Scout Rogue.
I bounce between PNW and Coachella Valley CA, so my bikes aren't together, typically.
Remember, everyone on the road is a trained assassin looking to put you down! Ride hard, ride safe!

Love those American made Indian motorcycles❣️ They just keep getting better and better 👍
I've certainly had great performance out of the Polaris bikes, starting with the Victory brand and so far this Scout has continued to be great! And with the number of new riders to the brand, ensuring there is awareness of how they can self maintain their bikes is great for the community. 👍
Yes sir, I whole heartedly agree. I believe it’s good for the country to have the ol’ Indian/ Harley-Davidson rivalry back again.
very nice product
Agreed. Enjoy the option to ride with it and without.

What size did you order
I did size up to XXL. I'm 6'0" and 220 with a beer gut. After removing the cheese they call armor, the shirt is very comfortable. Finally got a small break from the heat yesterday, only 110, and while it was anything but cool, the air flow in this shirt was great!
Just subscribed to your channel! I have a question/request about your upcoming running lights video. Can you please show the step by step process of how you mount and connect the wiring of the running lights? I want to add running lights as well, but I'm uncertain how to do the wiring. Also, do you have any recommendations on what brand/model of lights would work best? Thank you, I appreciate your time.
Sure thing! I've been piecing together my plan and think I I'm going to start with the Octane. Being the wiring up front is pretty much the same between the two bikes, I'll do more detail!
Forgot to answer the brand question. There are so many lower cost options available, but I still think there is an aspect of support. Examples such as Eagle Lights or Custom Dynamics. Past projects where I was stuck, I was able to call and they got back me. They researched bike wiring diagrams and walked me thru what I needed to do. Headlights, I would absolutely stay away from them both, it's a simple upgrade and they are far too expensive. These little running lights in going to install on both bikes, one came from Eagle (4th of July sale) and the other are $22 off Amazon. I want to compare. But now that I've done from signals a few times, I am less concerned with running into issues. Which I'll be sure to walk thru when I sit down to do the install. Which will probably be a few weeks before I get the chance.
@scoutane Thank you for the quick response. I'm looking forward to seeing the two model options you chose for your bikes. I'll be paying close attention to how you mount and wire them. Thank you!
Thanks so much for the video! I was watching your heel/toe shifter video and found this. Do you have forward controls? I'm thinking about ordering these pipes, but my back brake control is definitely farther back than yours!
Yes, Free Spirit extended controls. But that should not be an issue to be running stock. Scout mount is very wide compared to Octane. I will grab a photo tomorrow to show the space that would still be available with stock position.
This video may help visualize the space. I filled in some additional info in description, such as making more space by removing the controls mounting bolts temporarily while you do the install. Let me know if you have any questions. Victory Pipes and Factory Scout Lower Control Position kzread.info/dash/bejne/oYNktdZqes-ygZc.html
nice, haven't had the pleasure of a bee going up my sleeve yet, but inside the helmet, you pull over quick
Heck yeah you do!
nice, sounds louder than my V&H slash cuts.
I ran V&H Grenades on the Octane for years and loved them. Only gave them up because they wouldn't work with passenger pegs. But great pipes.
Loudness is not a right parameter. In general V&H sound terrible on this bike very high frequency sound without any power in it...
So true, if performance is the end goal. And also true how some pipes bring out the higher pitch. While I like the look of straight pipes I had recently cut very short, the tone was off and the decrease in bikes responsiveness was clear. At lower RPM these pipes sound awesome, and the bike response is far better in the power band.
Hope to see more comparisons between the scout and the octane
Which do you ride?
@@scoutane scout rogue.... Always been drawn to the octane
@pmtz84 the Octane is wicked sweet ride, but having only a single build year and the difference between frame and other portions of the bike, accessories are horrible to come by. It is the only reason I bought the Rogue as a 2nd bike. Closed option at the time.
look great
Damn you were quick! Send me your details and I'll get caps to you this week.
@@scoutane sent you an email and a pic
Where did you get the carbon fiber tank pad/protector? Thank you?
It's vinyl wrap and used 3M knife less tape. Check this video: Blackout Your Scout: Ep07 Custom Wrap Your Ride kzread.info/dash/bejne/p3yY1sqiZ6m9grg.html Ride safe!
Niiiiiuce!!
Yeah, love the look! I'll be doing a giveaway in next few weeks cause I think these are so cool. Getting a few extra to share.
Thanks for the video
You bet! Ride safe!
where did you get your heel toe shifter?
This video includes the link to app I used. Indian Scout: $50 Heel-Toe Shifter Install kzread.info/dash/bejne/oIB5tKyqltrMYrw.html It's working great!
Appreciate the videos. Down in Portland and have a Rogue as well. These videos have been great. Question: What brake light and plate mount are you running? I caught it in the New Rage Rear Signal video.
The plate mount is Combustion Industries X-Wing but last I checked he wasn't selling it. I don't know it that's a long term or short term status as I only checked this past week. kzread.info/dash/bejne/qpmdttlxXdmZfps.htmlsi=YRTaoQO8iOYubETJ Loved the idea of the mount but it's being held together with steel zip ties because the bolts holding it's two pieces both fell out, at different times. Making it worse, the bolt holding it to the frame stripped due to poor quality, so I cannot get base off. My plan now is to mount plate on back of a saddlebag because the X-Wing is flopping around and taken some paint off the fender. Ugh.
Hey. Sorry I missed the tail light question. First, I was able to find the X-WING on Etsy: www.etsy.com/listing/1567720992/ ID suggest making sure it's tight and buttoned up to avoid the problems I've had. The tail lights are New Rage and come with OEM connection to make them plug and play. a.co/d/6TzwchU The lights are bright enough at night but daylight performance is poor, leading me to adding the light strip to ensure better visibility.
Good stuff. Keep the videos coming 👍
Appreciate it! Ride safe!
Been waiting for a video about this issue. Thanks for blazing the trail!
I've learned a bunch since setting these up. I have an update video posted, which may help also. My challenge right now is riding 2Up and bags grinding on shocks. Comes down to adjustments, just hate pulling it apart again. Rather just ride!
appreciate the content you put out consistently for the scouts man, quick question, aren’t those plugs you used for the running lights plugs for 12v ignition switched ? Trying to see if using one of those for running lights would be worth It over another accessory
Referring to the long skinny white ones? If so those are what Polaris is using in these Scouts and the Octane.
@@scoutaneI just rewatched It, that wire that came from the headlight is a power option for accessories because it’s “keyed “. Looks like that’s about the only way to get DRLs on the scouts or octanes.
@wudaa2524 yes, you are correct. I was using it for DRL on this bike. On the Octane, I connected an SAE adapter for USB and mounting to base of handlebars to make easy connection to phone for power. And don't have to worry about draining the battery.
Excellent job, thanks for sharing 🤙
Let me know how it turns out, if you give it a try.
Where did you order the black bolt covers from? Or did those come stick with your scout and you painted them.
Found them on ebay: www.ebay.com/itm/264446736290?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=P8CxvL60SgO&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=v8nbE-SbTuq&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
I originally painted the bolts with high temp paint pen but then found the covers and had to give them a try. The covers are staying on, and look great!
What's the link?

@@scoutane thanks 👍😎
thanks for the link to the pen! ride safe brother!
Absolutely! Remember the Nibs, the replacement tips. This an example but I don't know they fit that specific pen. But gives you an idea of what to look for. a.co/d/a0vpu0W
I saw you have an SAE charger plug coming out of the seat towards the back (i think). I just wanted to let you know in case you don't, behind the ignition key cover they have a built in OEM plug. I have a 2022 Rogue. I live in Chicagoland and that owner guy let me ride up the the Super Shocks building (they usually don't do installs) and installed mine. I returned them because they didn't work for me, I have tried Legends Revo-A, Racing Bros, Ohline blackline, Progressive 444, and Super Shox. Progressive 444 standard duty 11.5' was the winner for me.
I didn't know about a port behind the ignition, I'll check that out tonight! Thank you!
@@scoutaneI have a feeling alot of people don’t for the bobber/rogue/scout because it is tucked behind there
@dieselbaldwin sure as shit it was tucked away back there! Such a tighter look, obviously. Thank you for calling that out!
@@scoutaneglad I could help - spread the word
Thanks for the vid man. I have a Scout Rogue sixty and I never found a distributor for bags. It took me months to realize the compatibility was just cause of the liscence plate and brake light issue. so I'm currently looking into methods to relocate so I can get some real luggage.
There are some great micro lights, LED light stripes, as well as these Rage lights. If I'd think to do it again, I'd even think of putting light stripes on rear of the bags, deleting the Rage lights and strip I've currently put along tip of fender. May still do it even, but not crazy about pullibg bags off just to mess with wiring all over again.
What are those bags ? Can you share a link for the signals and the bags please
The Rage signals are available from all the big name online motorcycle shops, as well as Amazon : a.co/d/01C16cR For the bags, go to www.vikingbags.com and if you search by bike, search by the standard Indian Scout, not the Bobber or Rogue. This will reveal widest range of bags. They come with FAT brackets for mounting, which make for an easy installation. I do have a video for the bags themselves, also. Be sure to check that, I share a small amount about the brackets the bags come with.
What's saddle bags are those?

Thank you so much, been using electrical tape while I figure out a solution to save my military boots lol
I've got about 500 miles on these pegs now and zero complaints. While they are thicker than stock, I prefer saving my boots over sexy appeal of pegs.
@scoutane thanks for the video! Can you tell us more about the saddlebags?? First time I see those on a rogue!
Viking Lamellar Raven Extra Large Indian Scout Leather Covered Motorcycle Hard Saddlebags. I get the appeal of bobber life but function has to be accounted for, IMHO. These bags are solid and I can fit my XXL thin leather jacket in one bag. My riding flannel has armor in spine and elbows and can cram in, also. My worry was about mounting. But this bag comes with exceptional steel brackets that have held up for nearly 2000 miles now. And still no budge. Extremely satisfied!
What are those saddle bags ? Thanks
