I think you could get a lot of inspiration from the board game Oath (same people who made root). The ideas present in that game remind me a lot of card wars in more ways than one. Highly recommend

You should study star wars destiny for this project. It's a collectible card game with specialized dice that I adored playing both in paper and on TTS. Assuming this game stays entirely on TTS and is never printed it's a very viable solution.

Idk if i'm a little off, but for Event Cards you could possibly after every 5 turns any 1 person in the table can pick a random card to affect the atmosphere to add ambiance (not a choice of who picks the card or what card to pick) it could either add a hostile enemy or change the weather to either benefit or not towards the players it'll be exactly like how the old Mario Party games used to be (Mario Party 7, Bowser does something to either all players or 1 player alone) Edit: I want to add, The enemy doesn't have to catastrophic like D&D where it can end a game / campaign it can be an enemy like in Borderlands 2 in Caustic Caverns The Crystalisks or like in Darksouls, The Crystal Lizards it also possibly gives either a small, or large payout, + it adds the value to "High Risk, High Reward"

i believe flooping is supposed to be reminiscent of tapping in magic the gathering (given that they turn the card sideways). This also makes the difference between "flooping" and "activating" a trivial problem because it would mean "flooping" is a specific type of cost required to perform certain card activations. In mtg, tapping is a cost because a card cannot be tapped again until it is first untapped. Also I think the "X" on bean ball bomba is in reference to the text on the card which uses X as a variable to represent the amount of damage the card does which is based on "the number of beans in play". Also, as per your original mission statement, I believe making this into a tabletop game would be a failure because it REQUIRES you to take many liberties short of designing a holographic board which uses AI to simulate an environment and creatures without player input. I think this is truly only doable as a video game or at the very least would require the board to be digital and all physical elements to be making inputs into the computer processing the game

I just binged this video series. Something that kept coming to mind was land claiming. If for instance I am playing as corn lands and my opposition moves 3 or more mud knights onto one of my land within two turns then my corn land is now contested. contesting and claiming is different, i dont know how to claim, but maybe being the only one to have a creature on it for three turns. then once you claim all lands you win? Im not sure how or if you should work this in but the idea of having an element of worry if my opposition will weaken my corn with his mud. AND if there were environment bonuses. for instance, you can play any faction on any land but scarecrows get +2 defense on corn land. then multi-fractioning with a certain land and creature type. like using water to melt mud and ripen corn lands. this card game has alot of potential and im super exited to see it come to fruition. sadly my facilities only admit my contributions to KZread comment. have you set up a email specifically for suggestions kind of like a notes box at resturants?

Honestly I believe that this is the best moment for u to add the field cards, these could solve the problem of worker position not mattering that much, you could have certain combinations of fields, cards and structures, produce more money or some similar buff to the economy according to the type of card. You could also add a way for the fields to affect the combat stage, we can see how the mud field inmovilices the bald man. One aspect that I think should be reworked is cards combinations of all types, the way the game is thought right now doesn’t allow for a lot combinations like we see in the first episode of card wars like the corn field being necessary for the corn warriors to function or the wizard being able to resurrect cards after entering the library for some turns. I don’t know how you could solve this tho, maybe someone else can

behavior ideas: distracted - unless interacted with this creature will ignore all attacks and events happening on the map. you should also change monster to evil and give it things like: maniacal laughter after a successful attack defence or stealing from the enemy the creature laughes and becomes un able to defend against the next attack. or monolog where you have to wait one turn whilst it explains its evil plot on how to attack. or backstab when it attacks another one of your creatures and if successful gains whatever stats the defeated creature had (but not effects or traits).

I might be completely wrong with this but... this is a Duel mosters hologram tabletop role playing game via semi imptovised and only half defined cards. With rules uou decide on the fly mid game so your conversation makes it real. (Very Sandman vs MorningStar like) Or perhaps pokemon card game mixed with Dungeons and dragons would be a better explanation. This is fine. However i feel as though the wider world of Adventure time is not beeing taken into account. For example the majority of the show (to my eye at least) is centered around finn the human learning about his own humaity from eveyone around him (mostly ramdom non humans). An extremly whimsical coming of age cartoon. Therefore this game is (again to my eye) an example if finns own forced adaptabilty skills. All this is to say that this first instance of the hame being played is emblematic entirely of finns dynamtic with jake. Right? Like only if you wanted it to be both show accurate and also narativly consistent, right? i think? It seems fitting therefore that the creator of this video has seemingly taken the show and made a unique version of it. One with much more concrete rules. Becaue the game is surly a social exercise as the untimate shortcut (in adventure time) to getting to know your opponent/ opponents. Thus finn could so eaily win on his first try should he have chose to. On a more personaly level... I for instance regected outright, the entire idea of there being any inhrrent rules to this game at all. It just didnt seem like that was the point. Its like card game telephaphy and diplomacy. You bring with you what you want and make anything possible when you and your opponent can both reason it into digital existence. (Kimda sorta, like a holodeck or Q continuum episode of star trek). So I might not be able to help with creatong any actually solid rules. Id simply break them the very next moment after i speak them. Its just my nature as a stragely consistent contraian However what i CAN do is very readily counter any rule specified here and make it still work for the game you end up making. Unfortunately this could resilt in what might addmitedly only work under some rather undisplined logic. I offer the abilty to point out many problems. Yet my solutions dont always solve without making yet more problems. So if you ever get stuck im sure i might be able to help. Even if its just to supply a slightly new angle of aproch. Oh and PS my autistic mind really really loved this video, like a tonn. So yeah thanks a bunch for this brilliant thing you made here. This was an absolute blast. Hope you get a buissniss deal in the future because in my eyes you've more than earnt it friend. :)

very cool project, It may be worth while to look into magic the gathering and its mechanics/systems, to me magic was the clear inspiration for card wars in the show so it should provide a lot of clarity in aspects of the game such as what which numbers on the cards refer to power and which refer to toughness as well as turn phases and when cards "reset".

im very confused why you've never mentioned or seemingly drawn design inspiration from the game card wars was written as a reference to, magic the gathering. it has all kinds of direct analogues to the problems you're trying to solve. also, the X/X stats are exactly from mtg, so the confusion you had wouldn't have happened if you'd known card wars is an homage to mtg.

Food for thought regarding how to make money: Have you considered having a specific type of building which its entire function is to generate money and have that be the main way players gain money? It would introduce the conflict and decision making for players where they have to choose whether to build a structure that will generate them money or a structure with other effects and abilities. I believe that it would be helpful in balancing the money generation part of the game as players could theorecally just commit their board to produce money at the cost of having more useful buildings or players dont build any money generating structures and the lack of money would let their opponent run the economy. Im not sure how this would interact with other aspects of your game as I dont know how your structures work at the moment but I thought it would be something worth considering. Also the structures could be thematic to type of deck the player is running. A corn deck could have corn farms that would sell corn. A snow deck could have Ice cream shops. Etc... Love the videos and everything youre doing please keep it up!
