Short version: stupid far right wing conservative trolls slammed Sana for a post she made, K-media picked it up without checking anything and blew it up into a controversy. Longer version: When the old Japanese emperor abdicated in 2019 and a new one took the seat, Sana (who's Japanese) made a post on her Instagram in her native tongue in which she basically said goodbye to the old emperor and welcomed to the new one. It was an extremely short post in which she did nothing more than recognize the beginning of a new era without taking any political stance. However, because of South Korea's painful history with Japan, some far right wing netizens slammed her for keeping up with the changes in her home country, said a bunch of horrible racist things to and about her and basically told her to go back to Japan if she's so interested in what's going on there. Korean pop news outlets picked up what was going on and, as they usually do, turned it into a headline story that made everything worse because they didn't check anything and jumped right into the boat with the accusers and backed them up. Sana was seriously hurt and anxious because of that for a good few months until she was able to realize that these right wingers and tabloids were a very loud minority, and that the overwhelming majority of Koreans did not have any problem with what she'd posted.

Just finding Twice in 2023. My first impression of Chaeyoung was that she was mainly there to be cute. I had no idea she had this fierce rapper side. Maybe i got distracted by her cutesy styling and the more pop vibes of recent songs. I'll be watching for the rap parts much closer now. Total respect for this talented woman. Can't wait to learn more about the group in general too.
