AJR is a music You have to get used to like black coffee or beer. It feels Like a lot of this video was just you dissing on them, and not giving a real opinion. I think if You lean into the beats, and kinda bop to it. You would get used to it, and actuelly begin to enjoy it. AJR is not really meant for kids. They talk about sex, issues with relationships, things Like that. another thing, the clashing of the instroments are something that people find to be "hype" or something to dance to in a way. Your opinions are heard, And most are agreed. have yourself a good day sir!

Just because I gave a negative opinion doesn't mean I didn't give it a fair shake or that I'm just trashing them for the sake of trashing them. I've been following their trajectory for literal years. I came out of the album even liking a song. Thank you for your comment and thank you for watching the video it means a lot.

It's kinda amazing watching videos like this and understanding all the different opinions there can be about something. I love much of the AJR songs but truly dislike some of their songs, some truly make me see why people hate them, but others really show me the reason I like their songs. Good video btw, it's nice that you shared your thoughts so peacefully instead of dreadfully ranting about the songs.

I liked the commentary and criticisms; I felt that the context of Turning Out P3 is better with the context of being an AJR fan for the first two parts, and also the comments others have made about the meaning/context of Inertia. I also think that DJ's violin, while random, is part of its overall charm and sound for a lot of fans. But overall, as others have said, thank you for not just hating endlessly on it as critics like Brad (and others) do.

I think listening to this album again with the meaningful context will make it a more understandable and appreciative album for you. She is mixing the decades of when country music came from to where it is now, in the country black community. All the artists featured were already in the country music genre but not given their dues. Beyonce is not only kicking down the door to make way for her but for others that are fighting to be played on the radio and given respect in that space. She does a history lesson so subtle that it will pass you until you find out "why this and that" about the album. As for Spagetti not fitting..the term "Spaghetti western" is in reference to Europeans making American like westerns with the over exaggerated violence, like an Italian opera. "DAUGHTER" For example. It may not have been a coincidence that Spaghetti followed that song. Lol Same with Jolene being followed by Daughter. Like a continued story. First she warns the other woman from trying to mess with her man and home life, then she's fantasizing about going off on her...and maybe him. "HOW LONG CAN HE HOLD HIS BREATH BEFORE HIS DEATH?" The dramatic inner thoughts she has while trying to compose herself not to go there. Great transitions with the story telling of those songs, imo. American Requiem, in context, is an important message opening and then to end the album with the last verse "them old ideas, are buried here, Amen". Out with the old gate keeping and in with the new generation of diversity and respect for artists and their contributions. Linda Martell being included in this album shows so much respect and homage to a pioneer who first faced so much opposition for being the first woman to play the Grand Ol Opry and face the hatred and backlash..something Beyonce is familiar with...from micro aggressions to out right toxic racism to her face. "HELLO MY OLD FRIEND. (racism) YOU CHANGED YOUR NAME, BUT NOT THE WAYS YOU PLAY PRETEND." It reads like Nazi minded right wingers who now calls themselves "nationalists". Doesn't matter how you rebrand what you call yourselves. The mindset is the same. A short came on my feed that had someone that was in the audience the night of her CMA performance, it was a celebrity (can't remember who) but they said from where they were standing people were talking while she was singing on stage. They were saying "Get that black B***h off the stage , and other racists things." She is a pro so of course she was going to finish her performance. American Requiem "THERE'S A LOT OF TALKING GOING ON, WHILE I SING MY SONG. THERE'S A LOT OF CHATTER IN HERE, BUT LET ME MAKE MYSELF CLEAR. CAN YOU HEAR ME, OR DO YOU FEAR ME?" Ya-Ya gets me turnt up so hard. It's like a tribute to old school black rock and roll from the 60's, sound. The song had the heavenly essence of old school Tina Turner from the 60's in her country rock era. The styling and especially the indtruments used were traditionally used in that era of music. Rodeo Chitlin show is basically the tours that black artists in the 50's, 60's and I think 70's too, did. They used safe backroads to travel in and played at safe black communities in the country, and because of segregation..the they weren't allowed to play in many white venues. Artists that toured them: Tina Turner, James Brown, The Jackson Five and many others. Dolly Parton use to use her long acrylic nails as a musical instrument by grazing them together...she did this is at the transiting and opening for Tyrant. Dolly is in the chorus throughout the song. I loved the differentiating layering of Bey and Miley together. Miley has expressed several times throughout her career of how much she admires Beyonce and is inspired by her. Beyonce made a wish come true, years and worked with Miley. Sorry you didn't like it. A few songs took me a few listens, and even watching others react to it to get a different take, understanding or even how it sounds more appealing the more you listen to it. Some do grow on you that you were maybe on the fence about. Now, there are many who still have a box to put her sound in, so it could be jarring for some people to like her softer more mellow songs on here. Alligator tears is an example. If you set your mind to her being this marathon run beast with growls and fast paced beats...it will likely not let you give the opposite a chance. However, not everyone is going to like everything great artists put out. There are many MJ songs that are duds for me, but he can still sing them well. It just wasn't my vibe. Beyhive knows and understands that, but with any fanbase, you'll get the overdramatic uberfan who makes the rest of the fandom look bad. We aren't all mindless bullies trying to force you to like her, like some fandoms do. Hmm, hmm..talking about the artist pushed as an anti Beyonce type. The hatred for this woman is insane. She challenges the status quo, gives strength and fire to females and disregarded minority groups and it's got the opposition PISSED! The music industry gate keepers are foaming at the mouth to destroy her. They have been using their resources to make the other one so big and imo she is mediocre. Absolutely overrated, but made it in the billionaire's club? People are hyping her up and saying she's the closest thing to MJ's level..like what? Yet, mention Bey that way and they lose their ish. How dare we compare this black woman to the holy great artistry of MJ? She's taken hers to new heights that have now surpassed what he did with the direction of his music and creativity. Unfortunately, Mike's life was that of scandal and attacks by the time his career was winding down. Bey has let that toxic energy fuel her fight and came up with clever pushback. This isn't just a "drop that beat, so you can drop your butt" album, but it has depth. It took me awhile to really like Renaissance, because there were lot of hit and miss on it, but, I did appreciate it after awhile. The focused audience was for the LGBTQ+ Community so I get how that album was very near and dear to them. I can appreciate the music more knowing its purpose and for the message and positive energy it created. I am jealous of everyone who could afford to go to that tour. Lol I didn't even get to see the movie, when it came out. That's how more and real life is out here now. Lol still waiting for her to release it to buy though. Fingers crossed. I respect your take on this album. Considering the lack of context you had at the first listen, I think you were being fair enough. People's minds change after a few more listens and context. Either way, the woman is on a different level that others faves could never...EVER! I said, what I said. Lol. Blessings to you. 💜👑🐝

Decently enjoyable review! I like most newer ajr songs. I really like the highly edited vocals in the background. The music is sometimes pretty repetitive and the big climax is hit or miss, depending on the song. Their lyrics are super corny/basic for the most part which is annoying if I actually listen to them (but I don't really focus on lyrics when casually listening) but they are relatable at least. And I enjoy their stage preformance and the slightly "off and ugly sound" is really appealing sometimes. If they had more thought out lyrics (and less repeating lyrics, i like lots of words lol) they could easily be one of my favorites! Also on the topic of age, Im almost 18 and I think their music is inteded to be around 15-30 but has quite a few younger kids, because of tik tok. So swearing, alcohol and relationship stuff seems fine but the cocain lyrics are quite weird

When i first heard this album I gave it a C+. I've listen to it, many reactions, and some breakdowns on lyrics, tend, and meanings since. It is more one of my favorite albums! I wouldn't cut any songs, because I see the intention now, though there are a few I'm still not too fond of. I agree with you on her voice with Miley's. I feel like the compete way to much. I also thought I was going crazy because of everyone's reaction saying how good they sound together. I disagree with you on Levi's jeans and others in that they're boring. They're not my favorites, but watching so many reaction videos, i can see genuine enjoyment from others, and know who those songs must've been made for. Ya Ya is everything! Tyrant is my favorite song in this album. Lol. I think you're in very poor company when it comes to people agreeing with you this one! Also, I absolutely hated Renaissance. I cannot understand why people like it so much. Cowboy Carter is far superior to me.
