    Isn't there a delay using the app? with bluetooth.

  • @isax.academy
    @isax.academyСағат бұрын

    Yes there can be a slight delay using Bluetooth. It’s actually pretty good with the Aerophone GO and a decent mobile device. I generally the IOS devices tend to be better than the Android devices for latency. For best results use a cable.

    Hi I’ve had my EWI for many years and never felt I was good enough on the instrument so I am enjoying your lessons on the EWI! One thing though I tried your lesson 6 to try and change the FX on sound #2 and the reverb never worked! The delay worked fine, just the reverb never worked. I followed your tutorial over and over but couldn’t get it to work. I did try the over all reverb and that worked fine. Have any suggestions? Thanks, Noel Catura

  • @isax.academy
    @isax.academy4 күн бұрын

    Could just be that the reverb switch on that sound is off so changing the settings won’t work. You’d have to get a sound editor to get deeper into the settings.

    Hey Alistair, thanks for the videos, i now own an Akai Solo EWI... and I watched a video of someone with a wireless mic Velcro strapped to their Akai Solo and has a 1/4 " jack that plugs into the EWI, any suggestions as to where to find one?

    Forgive me if you’re an experienced player. One way to check things is to set the breath to be always on. Go to hold mode and select breath. Blow once into the Aerophone. A note should sound even without you blowing. Now test the bite range as follows. Use your thumb to push the reed up and see what happens with the pitch. Can you hold it in tune - flat and sharp? It can be hard to judge our lip pressure.

    Played sax in highschool - intermediate at best. Keen to revisit Aebersold with something similar I can play silently & learn. The AE-20 sounds perfect. Once the chops/theory are mastered, onto exploring the next gen pro model. So glad I didn't just drop the $$$ for the AE-30. Exceptional job explaining the differences.

    Hi Alistair, thanks for this great video. I'm a analogue saxophonist,but after playing with some friends and their loop station (via microphone) I would really like to go to the digital saxophone to have a bigger field of electronic possibilities. You made another video about a Bluetooth looper. Could you tell me if it's possible to connect the aerophone 20 to a loop station without Bluetooth? I'm not sure if I understood the function of the aerophone 30s special midi-output. Thanks for your answer - I'll check out your online course when I have my aerophone (20 or 30, we'll see)

  • @isax.academy
    @isax.academyАй бұрын

    If you mean trying to send audio via Bluetooth to a looper this is not possible and wouldn’t work well anyway because there would be a delay with the sound over Bluetooth. I use a looper with the Aerophone often and it works great when connected by an audio cable.

    I just got my AE-20 but i miss the flexible EWI fingering mode. The AE-20 has its own E-wind mode but it not nearly as flexible. Is there any way to set this up to work like the EWI-mode? Could you speak to Roland about having this mode added for their next firmware update? This needs an algorithmic programmed solution where the 'pinky' keys can modify any of the selected primary notes, rather than keys/notes additions to a look-up table.

  • @isax.academy
    @isax.academyАй бұрын

    Hi there. Did you have a look at the key function settings in the menu? It’s totally possible to set the pinky keys to act as raising or lowering any note by a semitone or tone. I agree the Ewind fingering system does need improvement but you can get pretty close with the options for user fingerings and Key Function settings. I’ve ended up with my own hybrid system which works extremely well for me.

    @@isax.academyFantastic! This is just what i needed to hear. I'll download the app and take a look at that. I was over on the Patchman forum but couldn't get an answer there. I found an interesting app on Reddit 'EWI (EI) Fingering Chart (with interactive filtering)', suggesting there were over 384 variations using the pinky keys, which i thought would be too many to key in manually, however, it seems Roland has anticipated this. ;0) thanks again. It might be worth doing a video on this extra flexible EWI mode.. Pros and Cons.

    Hello! I just bought an AE-20 and found out that the bite bar can move if you tilt it. Is this normal? I’ve had an Ae-10 up until now and the bar was designed to stay still so i’m kinda confused and afraid it could be broken !

    Can’t agree more with you about the external amp/speaker combo! While I have an EWI5000 - I also have an inexpensive asian model (an Irin S56) that I play more than anything else - and while the sounds are punk from the instrument itself… they sound 10x better when played through my Cube or Orange combos. Alternatively - use the midi function and play some softsynths. Must admit - the key mechanism on the aerophone is quite tempting… but not yet….

    Thanks for the video! I have two questions I haven't been able to solve. 1. I'm putting the Bite Control option in Pit 1; however, this option turns off not only when I turn off the Aerophone but even when I merely change the tone. How can I get the Aerophone to keep the setting modification? 2. What's the difference between the Tenor Sax tone and the Tenor Sax Plus tone? Thanks!

  • @isax.academy
    @isax.academy2 ай бұрын

    Hi. The Pit 1 setting should remain once set. Maybe try a reset? The tenor Sax tone plus will have some differences. I can’t quite remember, it’s been a while. Usually a slightly different tone or there might be some changes with the way the thumb lever responds.

    Hi Alistair, I just got an AE-20, I was wondering how you can "bend" down, a smooth bend say a half step or more, rather than a step down, so bending a guitar string rather than fretting a new fret at the equivalent pitch,Ive found presding the thumb buttons is a staggered step sound not a smooth bend,so my settimg must be off. I'm a guitar plater who plays a bit of Irish whistle. I find your videos very inspiring, so much so I bought one, thank you!

  • @isax.academy
    @isax.academy2 ай бұрын

    I often use the bite sensor set to Sax bite setting which allows a nice smooth bend (with practice). You should be able to do it with the thumb too. Perhaps watch the videos carefully again on the settings? I’m not a guitar player, but perhaps a bend up first then release downward is more like a guitar would do?
