Excellent video. Very helpful. Is your advanced course going to cover using an external MIDI controller to adjust settings on the AE-30 in greater detail? That’s something I would be very interested in. I think that opens up lots of very interesting possibilities with the AE-30. I’m not sure if these are possible, but it would be amazing if you could do things like control a filter with an expression pedal connected to an external MIDI controller, change internal harmony intervals with a MIDI foot switch, engage/adjust effects using an external MIDI controller, etc. I’ve done a bit of that using MIDI foot controllers to engage effects pedals and to control external synths, but it would be a game changer if I could do all of that within the AE-30 itself. It’s probably not something for the next course although I will cover external synths. What you say is possible. You need to look at the Parameter guide and Midi implementation documentation to see what’s possible. You’d probably need a controller that can send CC messages or/and sysex messages. I’ve done this using Mainstage as a go between.

Hello Alistair Excellent video as always. This is a game changer. Is there an option to use the ipad as a monitor to see what sounds you are currently using? I am just considering a situation where you want to look at the changes you have made without having to take a peep at the small screen on the Aerophone. How can we make this happen? God bless. Good question. You can actually have the Aerophone pro editor running at the same time which would display the sound name. I understand this is Roland’s intention. However, it works but seems a bit buggy so your mileage may vary.

Hi, Alistair. Very easy to follow instructions. I bought the pedal together with some cheap extra to switches and a BOSS expression pedal based on your first video. I did not know how to jump to a certain sound. I would be interested to see how you use the pedal with some SWAM instruments. Have been trying to make the Cello work for me. I want to use the expression pedal to controll the bow position. I like the responsiveness of the mode (under Play Modes/Right Hand/Gesture Mode) the best, however I quickly run out of pedal space with longer notes. Thus, I would like to have the expression pedal use by default and switch to when I press a button on the pedal. I don't know how to achieve the switch from (second option) to (third option) with being the first.

I think you could use the midi learn feature in SWAM. You’d have to experiment with the CC settings to work out what value makes the change you need.

can you make videos of how to use the expression pedal, and the Fs-!-WL pedal please Allistar?

Hi. Just plug the expression pedal into the FS-1 in the same way I demonstrated with the FS7 in this video and use the expression pedal settings in the app. Sorry, but each video takes 2-3 days to prepare and at the moment I don’t have time to make another tutorial.

Hi Alistair, wonderful tutorial. I ordered the Boss FS1 after viewing your video. I would like to confirm whether Aerophone pro Bluetooth can connect to Boss FS1 and Aerophone pro App on iPhone at the same time?

There was a little issue with this at first but the latest update has fixed the problem as far as I’m aware.

I couldn’t get it to connect to my iPad after getting the midi online connection When you download the fs1 wl app go into settings on your iPhone / iPad scroll to fs1 wl App and turn on Bluetooth within the app. For me it’s default setting was off. Multiple attempts to connect till I went a bit deeper hope this saves any grief for others 😂

Is there a way to see what sounds use CC 16, 18, and 19?

Yes. There’s a tone list somewhere in the documentation that tells you what sounds have what CC controls built in. Maybe the Parameter guide? Sorry can’t remember just now.

Does the aerophone pro support any wireless stereo audio like I think the ewi? I see a lot of musicians on KZread not needing to plug into an amp and I was just wondering

You can use a wireless guitar bug in the same way a guitarist would. There are stereo version available as well.
