Hiro: im the oldest engine on sodor Skarloey: OLDEST ENGIND MY A- Stephen: hold my beer
Yes I know he isn’t canon but… Clive: WHAT THE HECK
Skarloey is 157 yes old
Neil: yes oldest engine my ass
Specifically oldest *operating* engine for Skarloey as Neil, the old box (that should be floating down a river lol) is in the museum and out of service at Tidmouth, imma add it in a video update sometime
Also note: at exactly 0:42 Oliver shows up
Hot take: Murdoch is a more interesting version of Hiro that doesn’t break the lore. I’m not saying that Hiro is bad, I’m just saying that I find Murdoch to be more interesting. (And he doesn’t break the lore.) PS: Murdoch’s my favorite character of all time.
Agreed and same here, he shares his throne with Mighty Mac
Very nice.
“neil watched on in pride, then got sent back to ireland on his non-existent bunker”
I’ve a quaint little HC about Hiro, and it’s a bit dark
Could you elaborate? I'm a bit curious to hear your way of writing him in.
@@Deranged_Shunter okay so. Various cities on the Mainland took a heavy beatings during the blitz. So the wartime coalition government reconned many engines from all Britain to help with railway construction. 6 of these engines were Thomas, Edward, Henry, Gordon, James and Percy of the NWR (a railway separate from the Big Four that served the Crown Dependency of Sodor). Sir Topham Hatt, severely down on engines, was able to strike deal with JNR to bring one of their D51’s over on wet lease. This engine was Hiro (who was called the “Master of the Railway”) When Hiro arrived at Brendam Docks in late 1940-early 1941, Sir Topham made up a white lie that Hiro was the first engine on the Island in some sort of attempt to keep Hiro happy whilst he was on Wet Lease (Sir Topham changed it to the first Standard Gauge engine after Hiro had quite the discussion with Rheneas). Hiro almost immediately got to work and became a reliable and vital asset to the running of the NorthWestern But one day, Hiro broke down whilst pulling the Express and the men at the Crovan’s Gate Works (now the Steamworks) didn’t know or have right parts to fix him. So Sir Topham had to specially order the rights parts and engineers to come from Japan to repair Hiro (Whilst having Adam, Colin and Lily come out of retirement to help run the NWR, as no way he would allow Alfred and Crovan to come back). Hiro was placed in an old siding between Killdane and Crovan’s Gate by Judy, Jerome and Joseph (my OC of the Works Unit Coach) But whilst Hiro was waiting for the men and parts to arrive, there was trouble in paradise! Japan’s attack on Pearl Harbour and Britain’s subsequent declaration of war. The men and parts couldn’t get to Hiro, so the Master of the Railway was left to rust. And in mid-March of 1942, Thomas, Edward, Henry, Gordon, James and Percy returned to Sodor, Sir Topham and the other railway workers didn’t tell any of them about Hiro and eventually forgetting about him altogether. So he was left abandoned and forgotten and lone, until about 1964 when the Duke and Duchess of Boxford arrive on the Island with their private engine Spencer to build their new summer home. Proceed with the events of “Hero of the Rails” and Hiro arrives back in Japan just in time for the Tokyo Olympics. Hiro stays back home in Japan to continue his working life, only leaving twice to Represent Japan at the 1968 Great Railway Show (a big celebration of Railways around the World to mark the end of regular Steam usage on British Rails) and to accompany a nervous and homesick Bullet-Train named Kenji at the 1971 Sudrian World of Tomorrow Exhibition at Vicarstown (no giant dancing robots included) However, he is scheduled to come back to Sodor next year as an international guest to celebrate the 80th Anniversary of the Railway Series My Thomas series is set in the between 1970 and 1979
@@miscellaneoussarnian5282 Here it’s based much MUCH earlier, Hiro and the NWR never really cross paths at all and he ended up being preserved in a museum. The NWR on the other hand Started in 1916 (grouping act) where it formed from the W&S, S&M, TK&CR (Tidmouth Knapford & Crosby), and due to their costly to maintain engines they sold them to join the lines together (Crosby to Wellsworth, Wellsworth to Maron, Kellsthrpe. To Killdane) and then loaned other engines, such as 98462, Alfred (chose to get renamed to Louis during a Repaint), the Red engine, the red Pacific, Tarquin the HR P class, 97546 (a J15), Arthur, Henry, Edward, Thomas, Gordon and James. 98462 would be loaned the longest, Louis bought, Arthur bought later for the Norramby line, etc and I cannot say the rest, as that’s a story for another day ;)
I headcanon hiro ended up on sodor in wwII when everyone was serving the royal navy.
Hiro is a cape gauge steam loco There could have been so many more story's if they got that one thing right 🫥
Many people choose to ignore it as it was retconned multiple times later in the show.
OLDEST ENGIN MAH gauge converter ASS🫲😂
(Doorhinge please pin this) Neil was on sodor before skarloey sure, but skarloey is only 3 years younger than neil which isnt such a great diffrence, also please remeber this started as a joke and shouldnt be taken serieously.
He’s also in a museum so Skarloey’s the oldest *operating* engine
Thomas Toby Edward the coffee pots
@@James_no-5 Edward was built in the 1890, Toby is 1883, Thomas is a later E2 in 1920s and the coffee pots are scrapped. Also is that the CGI canon or something?
@@James_no-5 ?
@@Deranged_Shunterno Thomas arrived on sodor In 1915
Is no one going to talk about the gauge converter car?
What does CCH stand for?
Coal Coughing Hazard.

Hiro. In my head canon, was built in 1936 as a standard guage version of the D51 class. Hiro was the only member of his class and worked on a standard guage line in Japan for three years, until JNR brought the line and converted it to cape gauge like the rest of of the JNR network. Making Hiro unusable. Some time later the Fat Controller brought him as an extra goods engine to help Henry. Hiro was brought to sodor, and was put to work. Unfortunately, Hiro broke down only two weeks later. Since it was almost impossible to get parts for him, he was left in a goods yard until they could get parts for him, but they never came. Hiro was left in the goods yard which also became abandoned sometime after WW2. Hiro was left in the abandoned goods yard for nearly 30 years. Until Thomas found him in 1975, and the rest is history, since BWBA isn’t canon in my eyes, Hiro still works for the NWR today.
Skarloey sounds a lot like T1E2H3 when he put strong emphasis on the “ASS!!!”
Neil: •_•
Skarleoy: How are you still alive!?
Hiro is underrated and no sense for me I gonna rewrite his backstory btw
Go right ahead! I wonder how the end product will look like?
Hiro never said he was the oldest, he said he was one of the oldest.
I mean while that is true grammatically, but he was built even after BR became a thing, so he'd be beaten by Thomas, Henry, Edward, Gordon, James, and literally damn near every other engine on sodor
Hiro is like if skaroley build date was in 1930s
Hiro is a good character with bad lore.
Skarloey kills Hiro and other stories
Oldest engine my a- Killed me

O see Alfred
Yup! You *might* see him soon but he’s going to be much more different than expectations may say!
Its good, with the occasional typo or mistranslation here and there but in general its very good.
The missing engine was a 2-4-0.
i know, but it's a placeholder for my oc, Tarquin, who's built similarly but just 4-4-0
Where did u find the ending theme song
It’s on soundcloud, it’s a TTTE cover of Rush E
Engine in the thumbnail be like: no coaches /:)
DAMN IT HE ACTUALLY DOES LOOK LIKE THAT THOUGH XD
@@Deranged_Shunter lol
I can't put my finger on it, but why does that model in the thumbnail look so familiar? Like, is that a background character from something?
Tarquin is bashed from a Retro Hawin so that’s probably why, I only now learned a way I could rebuild him into a less bashed engine so soon he’ll get a rework (if it works) :P
Ooooh, I remember now. Forgot about that. Gotta say, I really dig the old style look. I know it's not like the U L T R A H D models everyone's used to seeing, but I dunno...I just like this style of model more.
@@PlayDontPause agreed
Is Tarquin based on a real locomotive? If so, what type?
Thank you for the question! His real basis is Highland Railway P class number 102. Once again, thanks for the question!
