Pow Music

Pow Music

Hi! My name's Gary. My goal is to help musicians like you to develop your craft, stay inspired, and share your music. It is with that mission in mind that I began Pow Music - a music education company founded in February of 2017!

Aside from being a life-long musician and music lover, I've spent the past seven years combined, serving as the National Training Manager and then the Director of Curriculum for the awesome music ed non-profit, Little Kids Rock, and teaching general music and modern band in NYC public schools. I've had the privilege to teach and train thousands of children and adults all over the world on how to compose, improvise, and play the music they know and love. Pow Music is my medium for sharing all the things that I have learned, and that my guests have learned, with you.

Prodigious people are able to make something complicated if it looks simple or, put another way, use simple things to create something complex. BB King's minimalist style is something unique. We can play all the notes, even in the correct tempo and mode, but it still won't sound like he did. Thank you for sharing. Excuse my bad English.

I'm loving your lessons man. Ive got to ask, is that a highway one strat or the USA nitro? I have the latter, love that guitar. Just wondering if yours has the Texas specials or not?

I believe this is an American Special limited edition with hand rubbed stain finish and satin nitro. The pickups are the American Standard ones with the plastic bobbins and modern wire. I LOVE them. Very underated pickups.

@PowMusic thanks, I love the tone nice and thick, the Jumbo frets don't hurt. Great feeling guitar. I threw a mint pickgaurd with aged parchment pu covers and knobs on mine, really compliments the satin honeyburst.

If you think this is cool, you should check out Tomo Fujita. I like the Pentatonic Equator approach, but it only covers two shapes. There are five shapes. So it's a good start, but don't think he's giving away the game here.

I’ve just started learning common chord progressions within C major and was trying to match them to songs I can play. Then I found your video. Perfect! Thank you. (my mistake was trying to find four-chord progressions straight off the bat. Starting with two-chord progressions made it easier to identify, learn and memorise the numbers.)
