At 46 I'm diagnosed ADHD and all my WAIS scores were around 140.. (except working memory which was 102, normal but a huge gap) I've always felt weird, and somewhat stupid exactly because school was so easy until about 15yo. And then I "understood" I wasn't smart at all, and felt so ashamed to have believed so. After that I wanted to blend in so bad. I'm now very confused about my 2E discoveries, and of course this is my new hyperfixation 😅

Wow 140! That's really cool. Working memory is a big struggle of mine too. It can interfere with so much when trying to learn something. Trying to take notes in class was not my favorite thing because of it too.

I have an IQ of 135 and was diagnosed with ADHD at 28. I hold a Bachelor's degree in Commerce/Law & currently studying Postgraduate Psychology. In school, I arranged with teachers to complete assignments to avoid disrupting their class. For tertiary studies, I chose correspondence courses to stay focused while working full-time, meticulously organizing my day with alarms and a diary. Despite this, I was late to everything until I turned 33. I have friends of all ages but generally prefer older friends who help me stay organised. In work environments, slowing down for others can be exhausting due to my hyperactive ADHD. I've often been wrongly accused of being on drugs, which is very disheartening. I have also struggled with emotional dysregulation, which often presented as anger as a child but as an adult I am less agressive however still mask alot of my natural behaviours. I suffered from burnout in my 20s and in my 30s im feeling my version of normal and dont mask as much as i used too which i think exhausted me the most.

I am gonna get NFC tags. In every room something else plays in my headphones once I hold my phone near it. For example: I stick a NFC tag under the kitchen table. If I have to do the dishes, I tap it and the news will play. In the washing room I hear a relaxing song. In bathroom I hear a disco playlist. While cleaning the bedroom I hear a audiobook. It can be hard to get rid of those things. I think most people with ADHD have things from hobbies they were once interested in and are not interested in that thing anymore. You're not alone in that situation. If you don't want to throw them away, then donate them. There is someone out there that can use them generally and they will be thankful to get them usually.

I haven't taken an IQ test in awhile. The last time I took one i think my IQ was 120 or close to it. It doesn't change with or without medication. Meds do not make you smarter or change how smart you are. I failed in school a lot. Struggled in grade school all the way through high school. Ended up in summer school every year. Almost failed out of college. They were about to send me home. Barely got my bachelors degree. I eventually figured out in college the way I needed to study and write papers to bring my grades up. I just think differently and way outside the box so school is difficult.

She said it was because she needed one of everything for each of the scents she likes to use on a particular day. I think I’m going to recommend to her that she use separate bags, something like a net bag parentheses or a gallon baggie would work fine, for each of the separate scent suites.

Ok, I have a hard time, maintaining my organizational system.... does that mean it's not working? I default to just getting rid of stuff.... I have a super hard time with laundry. Putting it away, I have to use big plastic totes, I prefer baskets... I will fold it and put it in the basket, but then to take it from the basket and put it into the tote is so hard for me.. I also have so many nicknacks that I enjoy looking at but I'm feeling like that could just be clutter. I also have to fight a lot of extreme fatigue... which means I put it down and not put it away. Ugh... this sucks!

I would probably try to do these one at a time. One of the best things is to take breaks. You don't have to do things all at once. Do something for 5-15 minutes and then take a 5 min break. Then do a little more and take break. If you need a longer break then do that as well. I would go through your knickknacks and ask yourself do I really like this one? Do it over time. Take 5-10 minutes every day, look at a few and then decide on which ones that you really like. Those are the ones I would keep. If you love all of them, then that is cool , but review them anyways. If they look all cluttered up then see if you can spread them out in different places. If you have space, you could have some floating shelves installed to use the space on your wall and give you more space for your knickknacks.
