Also get a body double that doesn't talk. That worked for me
That’s interesting. Having someone in the room that doesn’t bother or distract you can be just as motivating as having someone there that you’re having a conversation with while doing an activity.
Can you do a video on what's in your toiletry bag? How you organise it. It's hard to find videos about exactly how to organise electronics and toiletries that don't end up in a gooey mess
Thank you for watching and yes I can add that to the list of video ideas I have planned.
Thanks so much for making this video.
Thank you for watching. I'm glad that the video helped.
As someone who struggle with ADHD for 40 years, I approve of every hack suggested. ❤
Thank you so much for the kind words and it's great that the video is helpful. Thank you for watching.
The amount of stuff like books that I forget I even had , then find them in a box some where and get surprised .
I have done this too! Sometimes I am really wondering when I ever first got the books.
@@ADHDLifeNow same same . Or even I have forgotten I had previously purchased a book so I buy another copy only to later realise oh yeah I remember now I already got and read this book which I now have two of .
i took mensa test in 20s and qualified. only suspected i have adhd recently at 55. growing up, no problems with school work, got my bachelor, though not exceptionally well, just average grades. but now the symptoms become more obvious.
That's really cool. I have never taken the Mensa test. Awesome that you were able to finish your degree too. I think it's always eye opening at any age when you finally know that you have ADHD.
At 46 I'm diagnosed ADHD and all my WAIS scores were around 140.. (except working memory which was 102, normal but a huge gap) I've always felt weird, and somewhat stupid exactly because school was so easy until about 15yo. And then I "understood" I wasn't smart at all, and felt so ashamed to have believed so. After that I wanted to blend in so bad. I'm now very confused about my 2E discoveries, and of course this is my new hyperfixation 😅
Wow 140! That's really cool. Working memory is a big struggle of mine too. It can interfere with so much when trying to learn something. Trying to take notes in class was not my favorite thing because of it too.
I wrote a ten pager in high school, but college was still longer for real.
The longest paper I had was a group assignment and that was around 30 pages split between 4 people. That was the hardest paper for me. 10 pages was the usual length though.

Great advice! Please make more videos on this subject.
Thank you for watching. I have added a pinned comment that includes a link to the playlist of all of my ADHD Student videos.
I have an IQ of 135 and was diagnosed with ADHD at 28. I hold a Bachelor's degree in Commerce/Law & currently studying Postgraduate Psychology. In school, I arranged with teachers to complete assignments to avoid disrupting their class. For tertiary studies, I chose correspondence courses to stay focused while working full-time, meticulously organizing my day with alarms and a diary. Despite this, I was late to everything until I turned 33. I have friends of all ages but generally prefer older friends who help me stay organised. In work environments, slowing down for others can be exhausting due to my hyperactive ADHD. I've often been wrongly accused of being on drugs, which is very disheartening. I have also struggled with emotional dysregulation, which often presented as anger as a child but as an adult I am less agressive however still mask alot of my natural behaviours. I suffered from burnout in my 20s and in my 30s im feeling my version of normal and dont mask as much as i used too which i think exhausted me the most.
Wow! That is a lot to deal with. Sounds like you have been able to find friends who support you and help you. That is one of the most important things I think. Congratulations on your education too. That's an awesome accomplishment.
I had to belt out laughing at the “piling up clean laundry on your chair” line, because I’m red-handedly guilty of doing that. Sometimes, my days have consisted of transferring my I-Don’t-Know pile of random stuff to and from my desk chair and bed.
@@chi-towncalifornia5916 Thank you for watching. I’m glad the video made you laugh. Way too easy to end up with a chair laundry pile 😂
@@ADHDLifeNow Chair/bed “Task Avoidance Pile”.
I am gonna get NFC tags. In every room something else plays in my headphones once I hold my phone near it. For example: I stick a NFC tag under the kitchen table. If I have to do the dishes, I tap it and the news will play. In the washing room I hear a relaxing song. In bathroom I hear a disco playlist. While cleaning the bedroom I hear a audiobook. Maybe it helps.
@@johnroekoek12345 That is really cool! I need to get some of those. Thank you for the idea. Thank you for watching!
@@ADHDLifeNow I've got this idea in my head for over a week now. It's a good thing I wrote it down, because this gave me another insight. On Android you can set routines. (I think iPhones have similar possibilities). I can say: "Okay Google. Play audio for the bathroom". Because I just assigned this to Routines, it plays the songs I programmed. I can do this for all rooms. (And it saves money 😊)
@@johnroekoek12345 being able to use voice commands are great. Saves a lot of time for sure!
I love dancing -- I like going to dance classes like Zumba, because I am generally really bad
i have”2 left feet” so to speak when trying to dance, so It’s either really bad, the two step or line dancing for me. Still love to dance though!
Thank you. May Jesus continue to bless you and your family
Thank you!, same to you. Glad that you enjoyed the video!
I can't bring myself to throw away hobby supplies. I am so sad, that I wasted money on something that was a whim. I feel so stupid when I do that.
It can be hard to get rid of those things. I think most people with ADHD have things from hobbies they were once interested in and are not interested in that thing anymore. You're not alone in that situation. If you don't want to throw them away, then donate them. There is someone out there that can use them generally and they will be thankful to get them usually.
We are going through my kids rooms and decluttering, I like the idea of clear storage bins
Clear storage bins are amazing for organizing with ADHD.
Step 2: One project at a time! ❤
Thank you for watching. i'm glad that you enjoyed the video
Thanks for these tips! While I don't believe I have adhd I do have some family members in my home that do. I can use these tips to help them learn how to take care of their space in the home before they get out on thier own ❤ I also find these tips helpful for myself as I am very overwhelmed after spending many years too sick to keep up with life. Playing catch up feels impossible sometimes. I like the tips for getting rid of trash and broken things because it doesn't require much thought and you make noticeable progress. Designating one spot for my keys and bag has helped so much too!
Thank you for watching and I am glad that the tips helped. it's awesome that they help you and all of your family too :)
Thats a really great tip! Breaking things down into 10-15 minutes a day instead of a few hours. Thunk that will really help me!
I am glad that the video helped. Thank you for watching and that tip has helped me a ton too.
If you people have got ADHD, please post your IQ results with and without medication.
I haven't taken an IQ test in awhile. The last time I took one i think my IQ was 120 or close to it. It doesn't change with or without medication. Meds do not make you smarter or change how smart you are. I failed in school a lot. Struggled in grade school all the way through high school. Ended up in summer school every year. Almost failed out of college. They were about to send me home. Barely got my bachelors degree. I eventually figured out in college the way I needed to study and write papers to bring my grades up. I just think differently and way outside the box so school is difficult.
get corelle dishes and round tables and chairs. less emergency visits
Thanks for the tip! Yep! Corelle dishes don't break easily. I have never broken any. I have had mine for years.
decluttered and made my 22 year old a "work clothes station" for the summer" 6 t shirts, 2 long sheeve shirts, 6 socks, 6 undershirts, 6 shorts, 1 brooks gymshoes, 1 hoodie, 6 underwear. wash on the weekend and hang it up in 10 mins!!
Nice! That should definitely help. Really awesome! Thank you for watching
I save this video for the day I'm going to declutter my home office, in a loop. Thank you. This really helps
Thank you for watching.
1:37 I don't have a clue who gave me this card, there's only a name, so let's keep it
I have had way too many of those 😆
Number nine: my granddaughter is ADHD like her grandmother. I asked her why she had 19 different bottles in the bathtub surround. She said it was because she needed one of everything for each of the scents she likes to use on a particular day. I think I’m going to recommend to her that she use separate bags, something like a net bag parentheses or a gallon baggie would work fine, for each of the separate scent suites.
Yep! You just never know when you will need the other option. With ADHD, you can like things one minute and like something else the next. Depending how big they are you could get a basket to put them all or at least some of them in. thank you for watching!
Number five: time! I keep an analog clock in a prominent place in my bathroom to help keep me on time. Analog, because I perceive the passage of time visually.
That's really awesome! Yes, clocks are essential for me to be on time at all.
Oh! The bath towel! This triggered a thought for me about the way I hold onto things like toss pillows or scraps of fabric, because I like the colors or the pattern. Why not take a picture of it and make an album? Then I can get rid of the Item itself!
Yep! I have held on to things way too long and then thought " Why do I still have this?" if i can't figure out a reason I get rid of it
Thank you ❤
Thank you for watching. I appreciate it.
Just started and already great tips 😅 Thank youuuuuu! 💜🙏🏾
Thank you. I’m glad the tips are helpful!
10 minutes per day makes a huge difference & can also be very relaxing 😊 I clean for 10 minutes per day during the week. I keep a dry erase pad with the things I must clean or tidy. I check things off as I clean them & doing so helps me to remain on sort of a rotation with the cleaning. Enjoyed the video. Thanks !
That's awesome that you do all of that! Thank you for watching. I am glad that you liked the video
Nice
I’m glad that you enjoyed the video.

Love the thoughtful consideration of others with the fidget toy suggestion!
Fidget toys are really awesome. Helps me think through things. Hoping it helps others too.
I literally had a bad dream yesterday remembering how I used to struggle in school. Then I woke up and saw this video from you. You are literally God sent! Your videos are soooo validating and healing. Thank you so much for all that you do!
i am glad that the video helped and thank you for the kind words
Bought magnetic sticky notes because paper ones fly or easily get lost
That works too. Depending on the surface the paper ones may not stick as well. Awesome that you found another solution!
👍
Thank you for watching
thanks for the tips + ...🤔 well, confirmation, i guess! i already do a few of these things - "systems" i created to accommodate myself before i was Dx. guess i'm doing something right? 😅 gonna try the others! 🖤✊🏾
That's awesome that you do some of these already. Thank you for watching the video.
Great topic! Thank you for these tips!!!
Thank you! I'm glad that the tips helped.
I’m a medical Dr with IQ 148, looking back through life & career , it seems to me that ADHD features can be a superpower when you have too much to do and need the drive to keep working after others have to stop.
That’s true. There are some things where neurodivergent thinking is an advantage. If hyperfocus kicks in on the right activities, then we might stay doing the same things for hours.
Ok, I have a hard time, maintaining my organizational system.... does that mean it's not working? I default to just getting rid of stuff.... I have a super hard time with laundry. Putting it away, I have to use big plastic totes, I prefer baskets... I will fold it and put it in the basket, but then to take it from the basket and put it into the tote is so hard for me.. I also have so many nicknacks that I enjoy looking at but I'm feeling like that could just be clutter. I also have to fight a lot of extreme fatigue... which means I put it down and not put it away. Ugh... this sucks!
I would probably try to do these one at a time. One of the best things is to take breaks. You don't have to do things all at once. Do something for 5-15 minutes and then take a 5 min break. Then do a little more and take break. If you need a longer break then do that as well. I would go through your knickknacks and ask yourself do I really like this one? Do it over time. Take 5-10 minutes every day, look at a few and then decide on which ones that you really like. Those are the ones I would keep. If you love all of them, then that is cool , but review them anyways. If they look all cluttered up then see if you can spread them out in different places. If you have space, you could have some floating shelves installed to use the space on your wall and give you more space for your knickknacks.
Thanks for your videos. This is a great one to show to my teens with ADHD. I would love more videos that would be helpful for high school students. There is a lot out there for parents to get information, but my teens are more likely to listen to a youtube video give them tips than they are to listen to their mom give them adhd tips :)
Thank you for watching and I am working on a video for study tips for when you have ADHD. That video should help for high school and college students.
This explains a lot. Thank you!
I’m glad that you enjoyed the video. Thank you for watching.
I’ve had a terrible experience being hyper intelligent. It’s scary.
Yes it absolutely can be scary. It can be difficult.I hope things turn around for you.
Me too. What has your experience been?
@@tinnaandriasardottirjacobs9553 Trying to cope with being more intelligent and faster with more energy. Constantly frustrated with people everywhere. They are too slow all the while trying to act like something’s wrong with me. There’s nothing wrong other than the things they constantly drop the ball on.
…? Respectfully… Boredom? Never. Ever. I’m always behind with everything and everyone so, there is no end to the amount of stuff I have to do. Switching to different things for me means EVerything is important ALL the time(!). “A place with nothing in it”? You mean like the meditation retreat that saved my life-and several times? You mean like thaaaat🙂? I believe that the term should not be “boredom”. I believe it’s actually over-stimulation or over-interest. I have too much to do and never know what to do first, and, yes, become distracted easily. Medication was a godsend, but a lack of doctors = no mo’ recommendations to specialists so no mo’ meds😕. Daily exercise and daily KZread positivity🧘🏽♀️ videos are FABulous. Cheers🌬️🌤️🕊️.
