I rode my buddies 2013 Rocket 3 at the Bonneville Salt Flats in 2023. It was modified but no turbo or supercharger and on very wet salt we got 164 mph. After trying to get it up a bit faster I crashed on the 3rd run. I'm going back in August of 2024 on a 2021 model with just an ECU flash. Hopefully this one handles better.

How do I get ahold of Brent Miller. I have same set up and blowing oil out also. I know he thought was rings. I seen he said got it sorted out. Never seen what he done to fix it? Anyone know what he did to fix?

It was not the rings but busted piston lands (thin piston area between the rings) on the front cylinder. I'm sure it was detonation that did this. I replaced all three pistons with brand new. Runs beautifully now with no excessive crank case pressure. Yes, I still own the bike and enjoy the massive torque each time I ride it! If you're mechanically inclined at all you CAN fix yours too. Are you still using same turbo? Different tune on new pistons? Did you use stock or aftermarket pistons? Are those links your tear down, findings and repair? And again thank you!

@@user-mk3bp8jg2r Yes, same turbo. I replaced pistons with stock pistons and had it dyno tuned upon rebuild. Yes, the links are of my tear down and damaged piston. Try the links again. I did not have the sharing permissions set right. You should be able to access now.

Thanks I looked at the pictures. I was hoping to get some aftermarket pistons. Not sure if any available for the lower compression. Did you try find any? If you don’t mind me asking how much did you have in parts repairing it. I will do all the labor. Piston, rings and gaskets I’m assuming. And thank you for all the information sir!

@@user-mk3bp8jg2r I didn't look for aftermarket. I got a good deal from Carpenter Racing on a brand new set of stock pistons. I can't remember my parts cost but I would estimate you should be looking at between $500 and $1K for all parts for the job (if it's just one piston) if you keep it stock.

Having ridden this incredible machine, I can testify that it's as smooth as butter. The pull is so hard and fast that it blurs your vision. I always thought of it as the Caddilac of bikes. Incredibly balanced; nearly effortless to control . . . it's on a completely different level compared to other bikes.

@@brentmiller7901 The amount of torque the Rocket has is so strong, it pulls the 800lbs around as though it doesn't exist. I'm not sure that a person can comprehend this unless they actually ride it. The other remarkable aspect of this bike is that though you're up to 80mph in about two seconds, there is no feeling . . . at all . . . that you're about to fall off the back of the bike. That said, a person would be wise to offer you $22,000 - $25,000 for it. From Nova to Rocket . . . unreal.

Still running and and yes, I have not killed myself on it although I've certainly come close. I enjoy riding it each riding season which here in Western Washington is only May - September. I only average around 1000 miles per year. I've done quite a bit of mods to the bike. I scored a 07 with k&n pods, secondaries removed, custom slip on and tuned with on 2800 miles for 6500 bucks. It's currently in the shop for an updated PC6, tune and tires. Everything on this bike works flawlessly so far and next winter it's going from WY to NY for the carpenters touch over the winter.

@@joeybragg1198 The fuel light on this bike comes on with well over a gallon still in the tank, not that it matters since the fuel pump maintains the exact same fuel pressure with half a gallon as it does with a full tank. For some reason you assume the bike is running on fumes just because the fuel light is on, that I didn't know I had plenty of fuel to safely run WOT several times before refueling as well as presume that I don't understand what detonation will do on a boosted engine if the AFR is too lean? Really? Why?

Gotta ride one of these one day. The low end hit must be awesome. My 1000cc RR had about 100 pounds and 150 HP and just that felt like it had hellishly strong pull even in the low end, I can't imagine having 240 ft/lb. Please do be careful with this bike though. Even though it will match or even outdo a 1000cc in power it still doesn't have the frame of one for stability at high speeds.

Not if you set it up properly. It requires extra fuel management hardware and software and has to be tuned just right on a dyno. I don't know of anyone making a kit anymore. You can get a supercharger from TTS in England and Carpenter Racing in the states does engine mods increasing HP without boost. They had a turbo kit in the works but I don't think it ever materialized. Join r3owners.net if you have not already done so. A wealth of information for R3 owners. Hi George. Some of the most gorgeous motorcycles I've seen are Harleys but most of them make much more noise than horsepower. Not talking shit, just a fact. Even a stock Rocket will pull away from most Harleys. My turbo'd Rocket will easily pull away from a stock Rocket and eats and spits out Harleys for breakfast. Not sure why wanting to have massive horsepower and torque by adding a turbo to an already powerful engine is hard to understand. To each his own I guess. If you're more into looks than acceleration and believe that loud pipes save lives then by all means ride a Harley.

So I'm just lying that I calibrated the speedo to GPS? Here's a pic of my GPS after a recent similar run. I now have GPS permanently mounted above some other new gauges I added. Yes. No problem. A lot of guys on the forum I'm on for this bike are pushing more power than I am. Just need to beef up the clutch a bit to prevent slippage.
