Classic Rhythm & Lead Guitar Riffs, Interviews with Great Metal Musicians And More...
As I don't want to violate any copyright laws, risk account suspension or removal of videos I won't be putting up any clips from the original songs. Each video is my own work and represents my interpretation of the song. These videos are to be used only for private study, scholarship, or research. I hope that you will support the original musicians and buy their music. Personally I like collecting the old school vinyl. \\m/
The music at the end of the videos is my own from demo clips for the solo album I'm working on. \\m/

Excellent job of breaking this down into easily learnable chunks. And you got right to the meat of how to play this riff without going into to too much unnecessary explanation of what you are playing, as so many other videos tend to do. There has to be that assumption that if you are trying to learn a riff of this level, that you already know how to play guitar. Good job Mike.
I just realized how similar this is to the intro from Derezzed by Daft Punk
Nope..... bro I'm sure you're a great guitarist and everything, but you got it wrong..... I mean slightly yeah but it's the intricacies that make eddies tricks sacred so if you're going to teach them get them right!

Well played and well explained. Thank you
:v
Best cover ever i am a musician wirh an excellent ear. No difference from ed at all
I know that Eddie Van Halen was a great guitar player but I still need more practice on this
Look at this. Thousands of us. THOUSANDS! We're all here to learn how to play this shit that Eddie created on his own. The dude was amazing. RIP EVH \m/
This is impossible 😢
Joe Satriani is watching.
Cool good breakdown
Wow that's so rad to see it played up close, perfectly...
For real feel that he wrote it I was hanging on to the end of the runway fair warning tour mind blowing
you are the only person I have seen get this note for note absolutely perfect . you are a really good teacher and I wish you would do more van halen songs. really great job with this lesson
Not only does this sound like the most accurate example of this riff, but also, very clearly taught. A tip of the hat to you.
Excellent video but the actual name of the song is Mean Street. Not Streets. Alot of people call it Streets.
First, impressive breakdown, explanation, and technique. Second, WTF? I’m a musician, though not a guitarist, so know enough to be dangerous, and love this song. I get the terms…harmonic, hammer on, etc. It’s just, the right hand position changes, the left hand fingers holding onto and releasing while other fingers are doing whatever. 😮 Bravo
It's not quite right brah nice try though
Thats wrong
12 years ago... what happened to this guy, I wonder? Man, come back and continue the channel. I hope he is ok. 758k views and not a sign from him. That can't be good. :(
Nice job dude.
"And that's it"... Well.... I wish it was so simple 🙂 Great tutorial!
Most of Edward's riffs happened by chance. He had an interest and an ear for what other instrumentalists were doing but with a twist. Ed's energy then past through to Frankie. Most things in life are happy accidents. Well done tutorial! 😎🤘
not even close
pretty close
Oh... you make it look so easy. 🤦♂️
Joe Satriani has entered the chat. I wonder what % of the views for this video are from the last week.
Beautiful dude. This sh🎉t is next level!!
and eddie just came up with this stuff..like it was nothing. i remember when 1984 came out. i was in 9th grade....all of a sudden 1 out of 2 kids were walking around in van halen concert tees and painter caps. and they had nver listened to van halen before!! much respect ...u do eddie justice on this intro...
thanks to eddie van halen generations of guitar players are learning how to make noise rather than create music.
Someone should send this to Joe Satriani
Awesome. Subscribed.
Also, how are you achieving the tone? You have that nailed as well!!! Good job breaking it down!
Damn, according to the current consensus out there Mike Williams should be touring with Sammy Hagar instead of Joe Satriani. Somebody call him and let him know.
Hey, just have to say you did a great job teaching this! Sometimes breaking down riffs and playing them slowly is way harder than ripping through them, you nailed it !
Sounds great sir. Thanks. Kev
Go back and listen to the original version, slow it down and learn the articulate rhythm, specifically the accents on the last 16th note with the index finger
Hmmmm Still doesn’t sound right
Great job
But when Ed incorporates this in his live solos he does a longer and faster version of this slapping that I haven't seen anybody do. And when he's doing that in concert during his solo he looks like he's using all his fingers and his whole hand. Which this brings me to a question, how come Eddie if he was so creative always did the same solo at his concerts all through the years. With slight variations but basically it's just eruption with bits and pieces of his songs. But almost exactly the same from the 70s to the 2000"s. Why didn't he come up with something totally different instead of the same old thing every show. I think he was already out of ideas for coming up with something different in the ninety's. I think the drill on his guitar for the intro to pound cake which I thought was kind of lame was it about the last thing invented wise on the guitar. I'm not talking about his amps and guitar modifications but his playing something different and unique was gone.
Thanks for the lesson my friend i am so glad after 20 hours of figuring out the hidden pattern. Cool af.
He probably composed it on the shi$$er 😂
Ya know it's funny.... You can do it clearly but Joe Satriani could not even come close to what you are doing. I will put this video on his x to teach him.
3 "simple" techniques?? Even Satch was having troubles playing that on the Stern Show
Wow! And Joe Satriani could barely play it! But you might have had more time to practice it then Joe. You sound great though!
Great! I hope Satriani sees this
Many can do how to play… only 1 can actually play it like no one else…. EVH
Thank you!
Never heard anyone call him Ed - lol
