Deck switch, hand out threes, name 6x 2 States from memory, then you know which state is still standing. No way he fooled P&T, I think the judges intervened to avoid tension and boredom.

I think there may be some obvious things with this trick that we should consider. When the magician handed out cards, I only saw him hand out packets to people in the back row. How did that guy on the far left then have a packet of cards in his hand when they started passing cards? I never saw the magician give him cards. Also, I saw the guy with Illinois move just before his state was actually called. It was like he already knew that his state was going to be called next. Finally, the magician somehow handed out exactly 18 cards "randomly" picking sets of cards? I don't think so. I'm fairly sure he didn't even hand out all of the cards that somehow ended up in people's hands. Going back to my original observation, how did the guy in the front row to the far left have a packet of cards to start passing when I never saw him be given cards by the magician?

He may not have met that front row of people prior to the day of the show, but they were in on the trick. He only handed cards to people in the back row and IMMEDIATELY after handing the last packet to the back row you can see the cards in the three people's hands in the front row. They already had cards in their hands before he ever even handed out cards. This trick was BS, and I believe that to prevent a very embarrassing situation of calling out a magician for "cheating" according to the Fool Us rules, they decided to hand him a trophy. I bet this guy had some big problems with Penn and Teller after the show. He technically had "plants" in his trick, because that whole front row got cards that he didn't even hand out to them. Watch closely when he is handing out packets and tell me when he handed anyone in the front row packets of cards!

Watched this act over and over and I saw the deck switch or the clump that was added to the deck to hand out. The worst part that the judges claims that they fooled them but I am sure they had a time limit but Penn was absolutely correct. ShMe on the judges

My best guess of what happened is that P&T did not correctly guess how the deck switch was done. They probably thought that Ivan "shuffled" the card and chose the correct 18 cards to be on the top before giving it to the spectators. Or maybe they thought that Ivan grabbed (from his jacket) and palmed another deck while he "had his back turned". When the real deck switch happened, we can see that Penn was in the middle of standing up and not looking at the stage, while Teller was looking at Penn. Seems like both of them missed the real deck switch, and the judge think this was enough to give Ivan the trophy.

That act was all over the place! What was the point of the blindfold? 5:02 how did ‘Illinois’ get ready to sit down just before his name was called? Not being able to name Penn’s state at the end was the biggest anti-climax to any act I’ve seen.

I don’t mean to criticize you Ivan. Why did the judges rule that you had fooled them instead of stopping Penn from speaking and having Penn & Teller go on stage and tell you exactly how they think the trick is done? They have done that for other acts when speaking in code is not clear enough

That probably lost you some respect and jobs, and I’m sorry you did that, as you’re quite the showman. If they’re wrong, you are 100% within your rights to let them know. I’m not saying roll over and agree because they’re famous. Offer up the prop they’re hinting at. Ask if Teller would mind making a note or drawing as he’s done before, because you’re just not sure. Or say that code doesn’t mean much to you, can we please clarify? It’s happened before. They’ve brought a dude back who was too nice to correct them and for whatever reason the judges didn’t catch to retroactively give a trophy, because he HAD fooled them! They’re reasonable people… at least I would very much believe so, them being such public figures this long.

This is such a lame ass trick!. If he had guessed pen's card only it would have been a Petter trick. This is just deck switching and easy probability. A 10 year old could have done this and hes trying to state his against the 2, he should be fined or something for stealing the trophy.

There are magicians who had just 2-10% of their trick correctly figured by them and taken a L like champs & there is this arrogant a-hole who had more then 50% of his trick figured out, yet kept arguing
