Addressing Gettysburg is the original Podcast about the Battle of Gettysburg, in Gettysburg PA. On this channel we will publish all of our shows, along with other original content concerning the History of the Town of Gettysburg, the Battle of Gettysburg, and the resulting tourism industry that rose since this small Pennsylvania town earned its place in history on July 1, 2, & 3 of 1863.

Excellent intro message too😂
lol
Ummm ummmm ummmm
Yeah. Takes years to minimize that. And even still, they come out.
Loved listening to Heather talk about Andrew and their life together. I got to meet them both in 2016 at the Memphis Film Festival, which was held in Tunica, Ms. They were delightful and obviously devoted to each other, so I was saddened when I heard about his death a couple of years ago. I stumbled upon this interview after a random picture of that meeting from 2016 appeared on my iPad. So glad to see Heather again.
Oh cool. Thanks for listening after stumbling!
Bethany, don't feel about the Walk Tallers because I looked them on Google and KZread! Guess what? Yep, I found out there is no such group! Oh Matt you are good! 😂😅😊
lol she trusts too easily
Great show
Thanks, Walk.
Matt, wait a minute. You mean you're not supposed to shout at the drive thru kiosk? Who knew? <LOL> Seriously, as someone who shouts at the drive thru, I can totally relate to your dad! I guess I'm old, Bruh!
Hahaha it cracks me up. I don’t know why. It’s like when someone raises their voice to speak to a person who is not fluent in English. They’re not deaf. They’re just not fluent lol
Siegel !!! spelling check
I can’t believe this is two years old and no one caught it until now. Lol
P❤
👍
first photo I saw of Sickles.... I said... oh, that guy needs crutches !!!!
Lol
Another great episode. I live in Bedford Pa 30 miles from Johnstown. Great to hear the reference
👍
Lewis Trott does such a great job with these tours. This video is awesome! I loved the maps that indicated the perspective of the camera in relation to the battlefield. Often times Battle Walk videos offer such a limited picture that it is difficult to pinpoint where the tour is at any given time. This was not the case with this video.
Totally agree! lol. Glad you enjoyed it
Love the podcast. Loved this episode but could you tell me which number podcast is the Union officer’s wounds? Thanks
It’s a month or two back. Off the top of my head I want to say it’s in the late 70s, like #77 or #78.
Just checked. #75. I’ll put the link to it in the description in case others have the same questions. Thanks for asking!
love the Flag
We do too. A listener named Josh kindly offered to make it for us.
Will be there for the June tour, really looking forward to it.
Looking forward to having you
What he’s saying about Nashville being a bachelorette party town is absolutely true. My son lives near there & anytime we visit Broadway in downtown, scantily clad in”woo-hoo” girls are everywhere. I thank God Almighty my daughter was never among them.
Sounds like Hell
The scene When Reynolds arrives may not be the way it occurred, but it's still one of my favorites. I like the soundtrack that plays during the scene, and of course, "Now let's go surprise Harry Heth". Thank You for the shows.
you're welcome. thank you for listening
OUTstanding. I grew up in Northfield, VT, just about a block or two from the grave of Col. F. V. Randall, 13th VT and I appreciate the research and thought behind this tour. Glad you mentioned Howard Coffin's book - "Nine Months to Gettysburg." My wife and I plan to be in Gettysburg this September and we hope to catch that tour.
thank you! we hope to see you on one. Check our website for the schedule (link in description)
Thank you Matt for getting these online. For those of us fans who live several hundred miles away we finally get to see a get out of car tour!! Super cool to finally see the group we have only heard about for so many years!! Thank you
More to come!
Real time town stuff.... as I recall didn't the residents spend 3 or 4 days huddling in their cellars or hiding in the Maryland? Tongue is in cheek but also somewhat distended between the teeth and vibrating! 👅
Yeah I’m sure that it won’t be full of things that happen truly simultaneously, but enough to give us an idea what a civilian experienced
What a fun time!!! If I ever get to Gettysburg I will definitely do a "get out of the car" tour
👍 we hope so!
This is shaping up to be the best year of AG yet. The video content like this is gonna help grow the channel
Let’s hope!
Great job on this.
Thanks!
Very good.
Thank you!
This is awesome. Love the photos worked in
Thanks so much!
I spent time in Gettysburg every summer growing up from 5 years old to adulthood closing the park at sunset is BS i cant remember but im pretty sure you were allowed till 10 pm in the summer i loved having that time when not many people were in the park.
I know. It’s heartbreaking to not be allowed out there until 10. I’m glad I got experience and hope that someday they bring those hours back. It’s kinda magical.
Hilarious! What website is this AI from it sounds awesome.
www.udio.com
Great job, Matt! As a musician, I am 100% for analog. And it's been coming back - people tire of the "white" sound of digital and want the warmer sound of us live musicians...warts and all.😂 SP
Absolutely. Even people who haven’t grown up with analog marvel at how good it sounds once they hear it. My girlfriend’s daughter’s boyfriend loves old music. He says it just sounds better.
You were very cute with, Jacob. 🙂
He’s a funny little fella
I'm in Georgia, I plan on coming up on the Anniversary and traveling the entire battlefield, from start to finish.
Bring water! LOTS of water
Hi Heather! Im so glad to see you! Please keep up the great work. Take care, stay safe. You were from northside, so thats where the gumption comes from.
👍
Only problem is if you want to do a good podcast don’t be so sided with one side . Just admit that the union got the ass whipped for few years. I’ve heard the author say Stonewall Jacksn was stupid “ literally” out of his mouth on a previous podcast in which verified my judgment.
Clearly you’ve listened to the hundreds of shows we’ve done, but missed the many where the host has said that very thing. I can’t dictate what a guest says. They’re entitled to their narrow opinion just as you are 😘
@@addressinggettysburg clearly yes I’ve seen the many episodes and have seen the anti Confederate siding . Kisses back. You’re so sweet ! Lmao
Totally fascinating episode, especially Pattons story.
Thank you
what a great channel. thank you all. maybe sometime I can visit there for a week. AZ
You should!
Rick Schroeder is always a great guest on here great episode
He’s a lot of fun
I imagine telling a casualty that their split kneecap isn't a big deal is something you'd do from a distance.
👍
Please let me know where this Shegella restaurant is located and I’ll avoid it like the plague.
Lol
Trying to function with illness and while heavily stressed AND GOING WITHOUT ADEQUATE SLEEP every night you are in the field - that must have been tortuous existence.
It’s gotta be hell on earth
no toilet paper.
Trying to figure out if we said that there was toilet paper and you’re correcting us or that you are listening to this on the John and need help
😂@@addressinggettysburg
And no showers
You guys are awesome! A.P. Hill getting Gonorrhea...... That had to be absolutely miserable back then..... Now you can get a shot and it's gone in two days..... That had to be horrible 😂😂😂
Totally. And it just had to get worse as you age when all the other failures of the body start to happen
mercury injections..................... very very bad thing
UNMUTE ME!
Lol
I wonder if the ghosts were like "what are these people doing here, don't they know there's a battle raging?"
Probably
Great show. Thank you, and thank you John and Kathy.
And thank you back!
I can’t wait to get time to listen to this episode! You hipped me to the Top 10 book with the Top 10 Infantry action episode…a great conversation and listen! I found a copy of the book on Amazon for cheap, and brought it on my last visit in March. I checked out most of the cannons on the list on my last day. I also ran into Garry Adelman on that trip..,he was very polite and kind! Peace
Glad we could hip you to that jive. It’s a great book to carry along with you on a trip to Gettysburg.
@addressinggettysburg haha 😄.. when I was a teen I read an interview with Ace Frehley of Kiss. I don't remember what question was asked, but Ace's response to it was "Who hipped you to that mindf*ck?". Been a favorite phrase of mine ever since!
What a haphazard way to explain the various types. Heaven help the novice.
I’m searching your channel right now to see how it should be done!
I like Sue Boardman’s cyclorama book. I’d recommend it highly. 🙂👍🏻
Definitely!
Growing up, my next door neighbor had been a air gunnery instructor in Colorado during ww2. He said that a lot of very young men died to wear one of those movie star leather jackets. He was around 26 and said that his students were mostly 17 and 18 years old. He said that in late 43 they were loosing bomber crews faster than they could train replacements. He was lucky, he was ordered to a bomber crew and the war ended while he was in route overseas. He would get misty eyed talking about the kids he trained and were lost. They really were the greatest generation. 🫡
I bet he would tear-up when talking about them. You don’t realize how young that is until you’re way beyond it.
I can't even imagine what that area was like on July 1-3!!
Unimaginable. Even with the descriptions people left behind
Cool vid! I'm a bit of an off the beaten path guy, would love an episode on Brockenbroughs brigade . Fought on the first and third day, but performed poorly. Why? Just a thought. Give all us geeks a break from the 20th Maine, etc. Love 'ya!
Thank you. We’ve got feelers out for that episode. Someone else asked about it a while ago (maybe you?) and we’ve been looking for a guide ever since. We’ll get there eventually
@@addressinggettysburg No, not me. Glad I'm not the only one.
wow! no words!
👍
Very nice thanks Matt
Glad you liked it!
