    Nice video. You mentioned that there are still some muffler men around, and others that are being restored. There are also new ones still being built today. New molds have been made from existing Muffler Men, Uniroyal Gals, etc., and new giants are steadily being built. Bell Plastics, Mark Cline, Hubert Graham, and the late Glenn Goode, and others have produced brand new Muffler Men. Existing Muffler Men get sold and moved all the time, which makes tracking them down and photographing them quite a challenge.

    Mufflerman was made by Bill Sean who worked for Bob

    Right. Bob had Bill Swan working on the design for it. I wasn't able to find a whole lot of information on him during my research, but he definitely had a part in designing the first muffler man. I believe he was responsible for the hand shape, which is a key aspect of the statues' design.

    I find it frankly disheartening that so many comments are totally agreeing with Enoch's rhetoric and not at least having a nuanced view. It's not just that, if his immigration plans happened, I wouldn't even be alive, or at least be the member of Brtish society I am, its that victims of war would be left to suffer for the sake of protecting culture, and that it would open up a canyon of racial division even further. People say he wasn't racist, or that he's right, but look at the language he used in his infamous speech: "the black man shall have the whiphold over the white", there is no evidence of racial minorities controlling the white population, unless he views the acceptance of other cultures to flourish in the UK as somehow a direct assault on the nation. It creates a 'us vs them' mentality, and uses persuasion by fear to deny the prospect of racial unity or UK civil rights progress. He was not a visionary, give it the slightest bit of scrutiny and see past the metaphors, and a large chunk of his argument is flawed.

    Today he would be looked upon as a white suprematist racist but he wasn’t. What he said was taken out of context, all he said was if they want to go back home they can. Now before somebody shows me the racist card and call me a racist I can assure you I’m the complete opposite. My wife is biracial my father in law is Jamaican. Powell in today’s society would be looked upon as a racist and he wasn’t.

  • @BANKO007
    @BANKO0072 ай бұрын

    I can't believe I am yet again hearing the suggestion Powell was warning of "rivers of blood". This is wrong. He recounted a conversation with a constituent who expressed deep concerns about the future of Britain with respect to immigration and illustrated the concerns of ordinary British citizens about immigration policies. They were NOT his words!

  • @englishthroughhistory
    @englishthroughhistory2 ай бұрын

    Indeed he was, in general, recounting his conversation with a constituent. Allegedly he stated ""In this country in 15 or 20 years' time the black man will have the whip hand over the white man". However, the 'Rivers of Blood' quote was from Powell himself. He was actually quoting from his Classical background- the writer Virgil.

    @@englishthroughhistory He also opposed the shooting of the IRA terrorists in Gibraltar in 1988 and he supported gay rights. He opposed the Commonwealth. But nobody mentions that because they want to just smear him as a "racist" for his opposition to the immigration invasion. On that subject, every indigenous person in Britain now acknowledges he was right.

  • @englishthroughhistory

    Indeed so. It’s hard to label him at all really- very nuanced. I’d say he was an imperialist at heart like many people of his generation, but he is many things to many people.

    Enoch Powell had foresight, he was extreme . But! How prophetic he was. Immigrants of a certain.religious groups now attempting to gain more influences in politcal parties and then parliament . A fear that the UK could well become an Islamic state . Perhaps elitist influencers and movements are doing this by huge immigration into the UK illigally and europe

    I disagree. The most devisive politician who's actions have destroyed a nation and it's culture, is none other but the criminal, Tony BLAIR supported by a continuum of Labour Party members. Powel was an intellectual ahead of his time, and able to foresee the future based on cultural differences being imported into the UK. However, he failed to predict The war criminal BLAIR, who lied and led his country into a false war and gave a free pass to to those who hate our way of life and despised our own Christianity.

Compartmentalization gets it done. If you believe the moon landings you simply haven’t looked critically enough and have accepted surface level mainstream disinfo. Like this video

    I don't know why my third recommendation is always 4 views but since its chess and that's cool I'll watch and give my annoying opinion -- since why not. Microphone has a weird echo but it doesn't affect video content so let's keep watching. video is going well very precise on information; it's to the point and 4 man Indian chess looks cool. in-incarnation can cut out the repeat while editing. now its getting to the PowerPoint style information dump. Probably better off tossing up a camera with a face as this gives school heavy vibes and is impersonal. And my same opinion continues from minute 3 to 6 For the Queens Gambit Netflix-- there was also XQC and GM Hikaru that led to a streamer tournament which showed off low to average level play making the game seem more approachable. Covid era contributes to online chess also wasn't mentioned.

    Interesting that you consider Tombs of the Blind Dead a zombie movie, but not Army of Darkness. Sandy Petersen has a good video about Tombs of the Blind Dead. He kinda considers the undead in there to be related to zombies but still very much their own thing.

  • @englishthroughhistory

    Good point! I'll cover all that in the next zombie video. But, In short, the monsters in Army of Darkness are sentient and fully logical, as they're possessed by evil spirits. The zombies in Tombs of the Blind Dead, however, seem driven more by instinct. Even though they can ride horses :)

    @englishthroughhistory It's quite an unfortunate problem where media can take any sort of non threatening reports of information and make it sound threatening. Not just in one specific area, but any region they feel on that week. I can't tell you how many times a news article will say a meteor or meteorite will crash into earth in a week and never did. They will even put knowledgeable people in their headline and completely change their informal message to an end of everything situation. Even the 2012 end of the world scare brought mass hysteria. Sorry, I am unaware of its specific name. Fear sells because people act irrationally with fear. Their common sense goes out the window and are thinking on pure emotion. Which gives big time companies an ideal opportunity to sell based off of their fear.
