Old goat in top of red onions. Haven’t been able to catch the live. Busy in garden here in zone 6 WV
For those of us who physically cant bend over to the ground, the raised beds are a game changer. We couldnt garden without them. So Ill take the few cons for the fact that I cant garden without them.
Good to hear your discussion on heat exhaustion! The bear got me a few years ago and you are correct that it recurs easier once you had the bear. My symptoms were major fatigue and cramping in my hands and legs. The key is hydration days before and during the time you are working in the heat. I have found hydration with water and sports drinks helps avoid the bear. I am working in the garden at sunup and have installed floodlights around the garden where I can work before daylight to avoid the heat.
Thank you
Exactly why I haven’t made the jump to raised beds, but the our filled in pool site right out the back door would make an ideal raised bed location 🤷♂️
I didn't catch the amount of time to pressure can the sliced tomatoes for frying? Thanks
Those are good considerations, but there are certainly pros as well. ❤
If you have ground that floods with monsoon season it can be a real good investment.
???
I have a smaller one but it does work great!
Two years later, please make a video on freeze drying. It's June 28th 2024 and my Honey Select is just about ready. Maybe a couple more days
The bear got me last summer. I had to literally crawl in the house. And all i could do was just lay there until the pressure in head subsided. Now when my shirt gets to where its half wet with sweat I go inside.
My Nannie , my momma and me , used to get together and shell many bushels of peas and 7 bushels of corn every year , and my Nannie cut sum off of the cob and put sum up on the cob… I sure would like to do that again , I really do miss them
The old goat is on the basket of pink flowers behind Greg. My tomatoes are nearing their end here in central/south florida. But I have a freezer shelf full. 🙂
Great show! Thanks for your concern, brother Greg! I think I’ve got about 10 years on you (69 in August) and that heat tolerance doesn’t get any better! These micro fiber “cool rags” around your neck really help too! Head, neck, and shoulders are key “thermostats” for the body. Keep them warm in the cold and cool in the hot and it really helps! A drink for me, a little on the head, a little on the neck! I’ve danced with that dang bear a few times and it ain’t fun! Light headedness is usually my first indicator. Interesting taste test on those maters! Lot of truth to what Mama used to say, “you eat first with your eyes!” Thanks for these great shows, sharing your knowledge, and fantastic products!
Try making Cantaloupe Jam. It’s Delicious poured over cream cheese and served with Ritz crackers.
Awh always wondered how you get corn syrup. I have been doing the same on my tomatoe plants. Best tomato juice ever 😂
It’s hard to beat a Better Boy tomato!
We got a big shot of rain 2 days ago and it wrecked so many tomatoes! Just blowed the up and split!
Interesting! Your taste sense is probably enhanced when blindfolded. 🙂 I love the show. Mama Hoss is mischievous. 😄
thank Yall and yall are so welcome
What about a pumpkin hat?
The old goat is in basket of flowers. I planted the Hossinator for the first time and it taste great and I'm from Slocomb Alabama.

The old goat is in the pink zinnias on the left lower shelf.
We are sort of between gardens this year. Out with the old raised beds with rotting wood, and in with the 17" tall Olle metal raised beds. It got way to hot for us old folks to work outside, so we only have a few of the new beds in. But we have 'maters and peppers. Like Greg said, drip irrigation is the ticket in this 100 degree heat (which is way early this year). Grass is dry and crispy, but the tomatoes and peppers are lush, green and growing like gang busters. If this heat keeps up, it may be late fall before we get the remaining 6 beds in and filled with new planting media (we are mixing our own). So far no bug issues or disease showing up, but I'm sure both will show up eventually.
Ketchup!
Well, I was told by an old friend that you never get too old to learn something. I have never heard of this and now I have to try it. Thanks Hoss.

For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. (Romans 6:23) Therefore also now, saith the LORD, turn ye even to me with all your heart, and with fasting, and with weeping, and with mourning: And rend your heart, and not your garments, and turn unto the LORD your God: for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and repenteth him of the evil. (Joel 2:12-13) For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. (Romans 10:13)
I bought me a big brim hat has a little fan on each side that keeps the gnats out of your face and cools me off. Thank the good Lord we got a good shower this morning. I was having to water every day in the raised beds, but Almighty God watered them for me early this morning. I love the Lord Jesus and I'm so thankful He loves me. Okay Greg the pickle worms destroyed my first round of cucumbers so I want to do another planting, should I wait for fall or try through the horrible heat and humidity of the summer? Already got mildew on my pumpkin vines and am going to spray with liquid cop after the showers we get tomorrow. I'm in southeast Alabama.
wait till fall
These tomato taste tests are fun. I am going to have to try those Hossinators. The old goat is sitting in with the zinnias behind Greg
