Tony's Workshop

Tony's Workshop

Hi and thank you for visiting my Channel. In my fifties now and completely new to KZread, for many years have enjoyed making/restoring furniture and building scale models in my workshop. I have a background in Architecture and as a result built many static scale models of buildings in the past.

This took me naturally into a great hobby of designing and building dioramas for models. I simply ran out of space and sold off most of the models and dioramas built over many years, including large dioramas for the 6 inch scale Star Wars figure series, planes, large scale static train models and some WW2 vehicles.

Never having been into RC models and with my workshop relatively clear again, I have decided to embark on a new challenge; building large 1:6 scale tanks and models. The first of which is the Armortek late Variant Tiger 1.

Follow me on this new journey where I have to learn new skills to overlap my existing knowledge and experience which I hope also helps and inspires you.

Oops! Sorry to see you have broken your body! I'd have thought it would've been down to being run over by your tank, in some kind of 'tanking' incident. Anyway, joking aside, nice progress despite the obvious impediment. Fractured my left wrist just short of my 40th birthday, so I know just how much a pain in the arse the inability to do normal day to day things are, especially when I'm lefthanded, but thankfully ambidextrous. Well-wishes onwards to a speedy recovery 🙏

Tony, good morning! I don’t think that I have ever seen you at such a loss for words in any of your other projects! This Baja is sure to be a scorcher I reckon. Imagine using similar ‘proper’ powered invites in your tanks, rather than electric motors? Some thirty years ago I saw a lengthy article in a modelling magazine about a German or Swiss engineer who hand-crafted ¼ or 1/6 scale working replicas of engines such Merlins, Ferraris, Pratt & Whitneys etc which not only worked liked the originals BUT sounded like them too! Imagine a Maybach for your former Tiger or similar for the other tanks - wouldn’t that be tremendous? He was incredibly dedicated and skilled, in an era long before the off the shelf tech that we had today. Perhaps he’s still alive…… I’m really looking forward to watching you work on this and dredge up a few more words to replace the gasps of excitement in this unboxing! Crack on 🥳💥🇬🇧

Good morning Peter and thank you...this build will be easier to work on whilst I continue to heal, but desperately want to get my Series 1 Project completed. Just imagine...a scaled engine in a 1/6 scale tank...that would be incredible. Now you have said this, it makes me wonder why any manufacturer has not thought about this...perhaps the servicing aspect would be a challenge? but in this age of tech, it does beg the question..why not? My videos lag behind by two weeks while I wait for Ben to clean them up and edit them, so I am two weeks into this build and loving it...The engine and radio gear/servos turned up this week and I was like an excited 5 year old at Christmas😂 Thanks for your continued amazing support.
