I don't understand any of your points because I actually enjoyed watching it. I can relate to the main character because he was a nobody until he threw a grenade into the ship. It just doesn't work for you, I don't think it's the same for everyone.

The sandstorm music from DPPt was a surprising hear. I wasn't expecting that! Yeah, American Dad! is way better in storytelling than Family Guy. I'd say if you're going for writing, watch American Dad. If you're going for pure mindless comedy and that's it, watch Family Guy. Also, loved Michael McKean (aka Chuck McGill) as Emperor Zing, haha!

I remember watching this movie in a dvd 4 pack (I think it was 8 or something) and it had a bunch of other movies. I think my family lost the dvd but all I remember about it is that the menu was just a red screen with 4 of the different movie’s titles being in the corners

As someone who loves Bolt, I might be a bit biased, but I don't think I would've been interested in this movie as much. The charm of Bolt is that Bolt find himself in the real world but see it through like his TV serie. In American Dog, the real world seems even wilder than a TV serie would be, between a zombie serial killer, a throwing-knives gorilla, a giant radioactive bunny, animals that can drive. Ultimately it's less that the character doesn't know the real world but lacks life skills and is thrust in a wild world. It's closer to Rango in that regards.

for ME, Rick and Morty is at its best when there's a strong new SciFi idea that they're playing around with and they get to explore it to its limits. Usually this SciFi concept gives us an excuse to explore some nuance of the main characters' psychologies in a fun way while providing plenty of drama, satisfying action and visuals, and unique opportunities for absurdist comedy (not the dumb meta humor that could be generically inserted anywhere which has dominated the recent seasons). I can grade every episode on those metrics and come up with a score that ranks them all pretty accurately in my eyes. So episodes like 701 and 708 that don't have ANY kind of new SciFi concept, AND don't have real character development, AND don't have well-written jokes, AND are missing half of the iconic duo of the show whose chemistry carries the flow of the writing, just fall completely flat. I get that they want to have one extremely-silly zero-consequence episode per season as a tradition, but recently that particular brand of humor feels like it's grasping at something intangible from seasons 1 and 2 that really can't be recaptured now that the audience is far more familiar with the Rick and Morty universe and what to expect from it, the show has a massively inflated budget, improv comedy is no longer a route they can realistically take, none of the original writers are working on the show anymore, the fact that Morty has now been desensitized to the show's universe as much as the audience has, etc. Modern Rick and Morty really has to be more streamlined and lean into what it does well. When it does this, it feels like a grown-up version of the show we loved from early seasons, and it's stellar. When it tries to relive the glory days without understanding what made them special or allowed them to exist in the first place, we get... well you know. It feels like the show is resistant to its own change - largely due to misguided fan pressure, I'm afraid. If it just leaned into this natural change, we'd have seasons that could be super strong throughout all 10 episodes.

And the worst part is, looking at the charts, Inside Job would be way higher on the Top 10s if Netflix didn't count each individual season of one fucking series as its own category. This is classic corporate stupidity and we truly do live in a bullshit dystopian future.

i actually agree with "It's not a Nickelodeon show," i think the show would have ended up becoming a lot different than what it is now because CN and Nick shows seem to have very different philosophy regarding kids shows. i'm happy that CN got it, i've never been a big fan of Nick shows anyway, just not my style

This is what happens when you greenlight animated shows by people who are not animators. Regular Hollywood writers and celebrities don't know anything about what makes animation appealing. And it's really tough for those of us in animation to hold their hand, while they blunder their way through.

I never really noticed the “Road(s) to” episodes until recently where they have a special introduction instead of a theme song and consider it a special, even though they are not two part episodes. Would be a lot of fun if they were, though.

I know people must be tired of all Netflix shows being compared to Inside Job by this point, but this show -despite not even being that bad- feels like salt in the wound. They were handed a winning recipe - a type-A tightly-wound slightly mad female scientist lead and a universally loved well-intentioned idiot foil- and they went "this time we'll break the dynamic completely by making Brett Mulligan the protagonist and Reagan Braun the support. And we'll also remove from Braun all the traits that made Reagan stand out and from Mulligan all the traits that made Brett charming." It's straight up pissing on Inside Job's grave.
