Great video! Even though I have my own two cents about the defense for the album, but it was interesting to hear it from a different point of view and hear well structured arguments defending the albums "messyness" for a lack of a better word. Again, great job on this!

I was hopeful throughout the video but I cannot understand how You think your "criteria" is "objective" all your categories are subjective, you never Say a Word about the structure of the song or the lyrics, the use of rhetorical devices, harmony, melody or tunning. You mention "beat" like 3 times and that is the closest you come to actually discussing an integral part of music. How can somebody think this has even an attempt of objectivity?

I agree with you whole heartedly with Temporary Secretary. It is so so so bad to the point where I just love it so much. Definitely one that will pop up on my spotify top 100.

I really enjoyed this video until the end. Thanks for reminding Blood on the Dance Floor exists. I had pretty suppressed and erased them from my brain. I would call them a Wish version of MSI, but that would be giving them too much credit. But otherwise, great video.

The thing about nickleback is they make good music and i am not a huge fan of modern rock.. its a shame they became a meme.. because you wont find a better mixed set of albums 😢

I'm amazed you managed to make this video without mentioning any specific tracks by Imagine Dragons, Maroon 5 or Nickelback. Totally fair though, there truly are worse things when you start looking at the sinister side of the intent and messaging in some other tracks. For some reason, up until now, I never really even thought about music being written to shame and attack victims of abuse etc. I guess as a songwriter myself, I just couldn't conceive of writing that way. Truly odious. Thanks for the informative and interesting vid!

I feel like while preferences are one thing (I don’t like jazz but I’m not going to say it’s bad music), there should be more room for definitive analysis on songs actually being bad based on factors like how the songs are written and recorded, technical things that unless we determine they were made raw on purpose, we can see is a less than stellar performance on the part of the artist and that’s definitively bad. But even if someone still likes the project, we can still define it as bad on a technical level.

revolution 9 isn’t a song, but an audio collage made to mimic the “sounds of a revolution.” It’s more of a piece of audio performance art than a song, so I don’t think it belongs here.

people don’t like temporary secretary? It has a 71 on album of the year; that’s in the green. It has a catchy chorus and the electronic instrumentation was fairly progressive for the time.
