    Portrayal of Alia was pretty much off, but I didn’t pay too much attention to it because her main arc comes later. The main turn-off for me was an alteration of Chani, one of my favorite female characters. She’s vital for understanding the original story - which hints that books 2 and 3 will be massively altered too. And Fremen culture was basically obliterated. The way they disrespected Stilgar was kind of hard to see.

    This is a Teaser for my Ultimate Stormlight Archive Chapter by Chapter Summary. This video contains my rough draft version of the Interlude to The Way of Kings. My full Part One video will release in August. I will be releasing weekly chapter releases for members mostly just to hold me accountable to a schedule. You by no means need to become a member unless you just want early access. Any feedback left will be taken into account. Thanks for watching! For anyone wondering why I don't just release every chapter Publicly. I'm not sure how that would affect my channel in terms of the algorithm and flooding subscriber feeds. Also, I will be doing MUCH shorter Plot Summaries for each of the current four Stormlight Books prior to the release of Wind and Truth in December. - Way of Kings Plot Summary will release in August - Words of Radiance Plot Summary will release in September - Oathbringer Plot Summary will Release in October - Rhythm of War Plot Summary will Release in November kzread.info/dron/ZTnCuZ37SQa5hSXihvDSfw.htmljoin

    Maula pistol shots while crouched right nearvy in caves or rocks they jnow well make sense to me. It communicates Fremen superiority in environmental knowledge We see lasgun shots. Only the Harkonnens use them. They're fighting back.

  • @FatalxBlade
    @FatalxBlade16 күн бұрын

    Yeah, probably is supposed to be Maula pistol shots, but at that distance is kind of insane. And it's weird that there are only a couple red bullet trails which I assume are Fremen shots compared to the many lasgun shots. I do like that the scene establishes Fremen superiority. I just would've preferred it being less hidden from us, and the combat more clear. Especially because we see lasgun fire but never see an up close shot of the Harkonnens shooting back.

    17:23 You see the red shots being fired. It's weird the VFX team added just a couple of red shots and a ton of lasgun fire. The scene is an establishing one as in, it reminds us of where our main characters are and what is their plight. Some action helps gain the viewers attention. The complaints about the specifics of the weaponry or lack thereof are completely irrelevant and have no bearing on the quality of the writing/storytelling

  • @FatalxBlade

    We see a similar problem when Paul meets up again with Gurney, Gurney has a long range gun which actually blows up one of the mines coming towards the crawler, but then he decides to pull out his sword instead of using the long range gun, makes no sense. Paul pops out of the ground and trips him, I'm sorry, I know it looks cool, but this whole army popping out of the ground thing makes no sense either.

    What's wrong with either of those? Frank Herbert gives no reason for lasguns not to be used in the desert. Only that Harkonnens seem to stop after Idaho's trap. Also what's wrong with the ground attack? We see the sand compactor tool which makes it possible to tunnel and burst out.

    As much as I liked Dune 2, this opening scene is frustrating if you actually think about it, what happen to the ship which brought the Harkonnens, oh yea, you just tell your air cover to piss off. The bodies dropping like flies off the mountain was complete nonsense, maybe 1, but all of them ? Jessica saving Paul was pure ex-machina. It put me into a bad mood for the movie in the theatre, it was spectacle over substance

    Weirding modules. Kill with a word.... completely left out of the movie as well as this analysis. It's a while I read the book, but I did not remember that Paul got injured so badly in the fight with Feyd. Feyd also had a poisoned blade hidden in his suit, which Paul avoids. When Paul silences the mother, he also refers to her gom jabar and commands her to look into the place where she cannot look. none of that in the movie. I don't believe there was an interaction between Jessica and the mother in the end confrontation as displayed in the movie. It's a good movie, but I think they left out too many of the powerful moments from the book. It would have made it a better movie, but probably a longer one as well. I like that they got rid of most of thinking processes of the different characters. We as viewers can fill in most of these internal conversations, without the need of putting them to the screen.

  • @FatalxBlade
    @FatalxBlade27 күн бұрын

    Weirding modules are only in the 1984 Dune Movie not the book. Yes, Paul was not badly injured in the fight. The movie also left out the poison blade as did the arena scene. The Bene Gesserit seem to be the main "antagonists" in Denis' adaptations. I assume they will be used even more prominently in his Dune Messiah adaptation.

    Basically the whole second part gets majority of the book continuity wrong besides the major plot points. The one part that was pretty unforgivable was that they changed Paul's motivation for moving toward his visions of the Jihad, which was due to his son's death at the hand of the harkonnen spies. Chani isn't against Paul's motivation in the end due to her own grief, and knows that Irulan is just a pawn.

    I will have to be convinced to even think about seeing “Dune Part III” after being totally put off by Part II. Doesn’t anybody realize that Jessica has been pregnant with Alia for 4 years at the end of Part II? Why did they change that timeline so drastically? That’s the longest human pregnancy EVER! I loved the scenery, the worms were absolutely fantastic and stunning. Your breakdown of Part II was very good and I am glad there is someone out there that questions why . . . Why the hell did they decide to change the storyline so drastically. Chani being pissed off at Paul for most of the movie was a very disappointing plot change. Her unconditional love for Paul was the only thing that kept Paul in the ‘here and now’, and, most importantly, to the one factor that kept Paul human. He could only feel emotions of love, sorrow, and caring while she was alive and with him. This was explained in the Arakeen (sp) scene before the encounter between Shadam and his retinue and Paul and the Fremen.

  • @richlisola1
    @richlisola1Ай бұрын

    @@FatalxBlade -You’re right about what was a more meaningful change. It just strikes me that Frank Herbert doesn’t often describe his characters’ appearance in great detail. Therefore, when he does describe them, I have to presume it is of importance to him, thus important to the tale he weaves. I think for example, Liet Kynes was described physically much like Lawrence of Arabia, or at least Peter O’Toole as Lawrence of Arabia-Thus it must be meaningful. But you’re right that as a point of bonding. Liet being Chani’s father who was also murdered by the Harkonnens, is critical to the story and her burgeoning relationship with Paul. And Liet and Pardot Kynes’ ecological dream is important, because it fueled the Lisa Al-Gaib myth even further. Like a perfect storm which comes to full bore when Paul and Lady Jessica come to dwell amongst the Fremen.

I remember before Part 2 came out I said if this movie doesn't include Jamis funeral scene, or Gurney sneaking up on Jessica with a knife I'm going to be very disappointed. Not only did it not include those scenes, it didn't include Thufir Hawat, and the straw that broke the camel's back for me was Chani's character change.... I'm happy for people who haven't read the books though as they will be absolutely loving this trilogy, but I for one will not go out of my way to watch part 3 because I know I'm just gonna be even more disappointed with how many more ridiculous changes Villeneuve is going to make. He calls himself a feminist yet turn all the woman in this story into caricatures of themselves. Even Star Wars has a better bloody love story between Annakin and Padme and it's already seen as a joke. The Matrix captured Chani and Paul's relationship better than Villeneuve ever will conceive.

    I think era 3 is going to officially kick off the Scadrial Vs Roshar war. With Mraize's actions on Roshar and Shallan's declaration i nbook 4 being the catalyst.
