Hi! I'm Erin - I make videos about bullet journaling, stationery and reading. I'm a photographer in my day-to-day life, and I'm just about always listening to an audiobook, or curled up with my cat Mitsu and my Kindle. I love sitting down with a cup of tea to set up my journal for the coming month, and I love bringing you with me for the journey!

I love these vlogs! Maybe you could do a reverse google search with a pic of the fountain pen to see what matches you get and if you can confirm suspicions that it's a Jinhao?
i love these vlog style videos erin! i feel like i'm catching up with you for the week or something. i also love mitsu just sitting and staring at you clearly waiting for your 'unimportant business' to be over while you attend to him, the star of the show xD
"i don't disagree, i just don't want it on my tapes!" i laughed so hard because i totally get it!
I’m sure there’s a market for inspirational washi… it just isn’t us 🤣
I'd love to know what temperature your one week of winter is, because we're currently in our one week of summer and it's 22 degrees 😂
The best day had a top of 17! 🤣 it’s over now though, today was 23 🥲
The whole time you were working on the "Abbey" I kept reading it as "Happy". Oh brain. 😋
Close enough, it was a very good event 😉
Nail stickers in a journal is a yes. 😘
I think it might have to happen!
ohh, those fountain pen stickers worked so well 😄
Thank you for that excellent snaffle 😍 I’ve since worked out I can’t make the next fountain pen meetup! Might just use it to swatch my existing things again because it’s fun 😅
Finally getting to see what you were supposed to bring! 😂 Would have loved to see the Lumos pen. "I'll keep this out for a sec" Famous last words. Jinhao 82 for the first pen, and potentially Jinhao 100 centenniel (depending on size) for pen no 2. Andrew was the exuberant gentleman with the empty fishies :P I hope you have fun at the next one! Look forward to seeing you explore a new medium. ^^
I won’t be at the next one sadly - I thought it was going to be Sunday! 🥲 the next next one though for sure! 🥰 thanks for my lovely pink inks in fishes!
Where do you find the FP meetups?
There’s a Fountain Pens Australia group on Facebook, they have regular meetups in lots of the capital cities! Proceed with caution though, you will be bombarded with beautiful pen and ink posts 😅

I have the exact same platinum shooting star pen! It’s cheap but writes so well
I really like it too! 🥰
Oh Erin, how do you find out about these meet ups. I have a fountain pen. It was a gift to my husband, its an expensive one, he gave it to me. Do they bleed in your journals? My writing isn't good enough to use it yet, but hoping one day to get to it. Juliet from Brissy. Love your Vlogs :)
Hi Juliet! If you’re on Facebook, look for the Fountain Pens Australia group. They have regular meetups all over the country! The next one in Brisbane is actually this Saturday, I won’t be able to attend but it’s open to all! I haven’t found that the inks I’ve tried have bled yet but you do have to let the ink dry before you turn the page, which is an adjustment for me 😅 also often, fountain pens will make your writing appear better! You should try your beautiful pen and see!
It really depends on your paper on whether the ink bleeds or feathers. Notebook Therapy is relatively tolerable for fountain pen inks. Other well known reliable paper journals include Midori MD and Hobonichi. Leuchturrm has variable response to fountain pen inks (the 85 gsm can handle fine and medium nibs, but has ghosting), but is far superior to Moleskine. Many a fountain pen enthusiast have self-reported "awful" handwriting, and still thoroughly enjoy their fountain pens. Don't be scared to use your fountain pen. It can actually help make it easier to improve your handwriting (though does not automatically make it better, it just requires less pressure to use, so you can learn to make your handwriting better with ease).
Not specifically *fountain* pen related but - which pen(s) do you use to fill out your journal on a daily basis? I just can’t find one I like! I use the Sakura Pigma Microns for my drawings and layouts (weeklies etc) but I’m not sure I also want to use them to fill out my daily stuff! Any advice from anyone would be greatly appreciated - let’s get the pen (discussion) party started🎉🙈
I’ve been a Pigma Micron full-time user for the past few years, I do really like them for everyday! I love that I don’t have to wait to erase pencil lines from under them or wait to turn the page because of how quickly the ink dries, and also the fact that they’re waterproof helps if you ever spill something on the journal by mistake. I don’t mind the Muji gel pens too - and I usually hate gel pens 🤣 interested to hear what others say!
Oh the little houses tape! Perfect for Christmas villages theme in December 🤣
That was my first thought too! 😍
i also hate readable text! make it really swirly cursive, or Latin, but not a silly quote 🙃
Right? If I want a quote in my journal I’ll choose it myself 🤣
Wow...that's so much set up..I'm glad you enjoy it, it's beautiful.
I love your videos.
I’m so glad! 🥰
9:24 Omg I never thought about taking the entire hotel key card holder, always thought it would get me in trouble 😂 It looks so cute in the journal though!
I figure if they wrote my room number on it, they probably won’t use it again right? 🤣
So I was a Passion Planner peep since their Kickstarter days, but discovered bullet journaling about 2017 and took some of the ideas and used them in my planner. I didn't fully switch over until August 2022 when I started my current job. As much as I love the Passion Planner, I adore the flexibility of bullet journaling, plus never feeling bad when I don't use it for a few days and then worrying about wasting paper lol.
I think that was a big draw for me too - skip a week? No worries! 😍
Omg those are all in my cart 😂. Would love to see how you use them.
Which ones? I showed a lot of stuff 🤣
I love creating alongside your videos ☺☺
I love that you do that! 🥰
YAAAAAS- I squeed as soon as I saw this title.
It’s happening! 🤣
I LOVE my Leelajournals notebooks! I need to make another order soon for some washi and stickers!! (I also got a similar pink bow with my order and used it in my setup this month! 😂)
Oh that’s so cute Karen! I bet it looks right at home in a LeelaJournals notebook 😍
At least the writing on that one pet tape is light enough to where you don’t have to read it on white paper!
That’s true!
I love your journaling content, but I'm also really enjoying these Vlog videos! You seem to have such a lovely crafty community where you live, and it's so nice getting a sneaky look behind the scenes at both crafty and not crafty things. Your trip to the nature reserve carpark to record audio had me laughing, and I've had long nails since I was 16 so I totally understand your discomfort when you end up with a nail that short. I LOVE Leela Journals designs, and I'm waiting on an order right now, and you introduced me to Paper Monogatari, and London Gifties which I'm now addicted to. As soon as I saw your July layout, I had to pick up those gorgeous hydrangea and bird stickers! P.S. The Mitsu loading bar, it makes me smile every time so now I'm watching out for his arrival!
You sweetheart, I’m so glad you’re enjoying my lil videos! I’m really enjoying injecting a bit more of me-as-a-person on the channel too 🥰
Welcome. You have arrived. As for me, I've always been a fountain pen gal. ❤🤟🏽✒️
It’s overwhelming but it’s SO exciting! 😍
I'm absolutely loving these vlogs. 🎉
I’m so glad Sheema! I’m really enjoying making them! 🥰
I love your vlogs! 💕
Thanks Ceders 🥰🥰 I’m having a great time making them!
@@ErinSmith that’s wonderful! It definitely shows how much of a good time you’re having. It’s lovely to see! 💜
I use a set triangle called the Geodreieck or Geodriehoek to find the middle of any page. It's a triangle that measures about 14 cm, but it starts counting from the middle and goes up to 7 at both ends. It's a mandatory school supply where I'm from. I suck at math, but I love my geometric-triangle-ruler-friend.
That sounds AMAZING! I’ve never heard of them before 😍
I started in June of 2020. Found this system when I was researching how to track info for a hobby. I don't do that hobby anymore, but still love bullet journaling.
I love that it’s stuck around in your life!
I'm new to your channel, I don't know what you mean by Reading forecast
It’s a term I borrowed from someone on TikTok - it’s really the same as a ‘to be read’ list but I don’t like how ‘to be read’ sounds like a to-do list, so I was looking for alternatives. I ended up deciding I wasn’t vibing with ‘reading forecast’ either so I just call it ‘maybe next’!
@@ErinSmith ooh that's cool! I like the term! Thanks for answering
I started bujo in September 2023! 📚I had just graduated and started my first job, so I was excited to try something to help my productivity and mental health after nearly burning out from studying 😅 It hasn't been a year and I've already missed months, but I'm back on the horse again! I can definitely work on more decorative/aesthetic layouts, but I'm happy to see you didn't start that way either given your stunning setups now
That’s the great thing about bullet journaling! When you miss a month you’re actually just saving paper 😉
I’ve ordered twice from them and their prices are amazing! It’s actually the first stationary store I found. I was curious why they are way cheaper than any of the other sites I’ve looked at. And how the quality compares. I’m new to this art journaling thing
I believe they’re based in China, and use the same wholesalers as lots of sellers on the well-known Chinese discount sites - so you’d find a lot of the same items on Wish, Temu, AliExpress etc but it’s a much nicer shopping experience on Journalsay since they ONLY sell stationery and related things!
@@ErinSmith thank you for clearing that up. So the other sellers have a different manufacturer?
The smaller stationery businesses find their own manufacturers, and because they’re usually designing everything from scratch, supplying the artwork and getting samples and going back and forth until the product is perfect, the cost is usually much higher. Journalsay (and some other stores that also stock similar or the same items as Journalsay) are just buying bulk orders of stuff that already exists, so there’s a lot less expense to cover! Sometimes you get some items with flaws - I’ve had stickers that were cut poorly and lost some of the design - and a lot of their artwork is AI generated these days which some people prefer to avoid also, but on the whole it’s a great place to shop for pretty stationery at a great price!
@@ErinSmith I really appreciate you explaining everything to me more in depth. I had a feeling some stuff is AI generated. I’m not sure how I feel about that! Eventually I’d love to be able to buy from artists and support smaller businesses. Journalsay is a great start, esp with my 6 yo who is absolutely loving the creative journaling with all the stationary.
This is so good, what an amazing throw back even if 2017 is 7 years ago which is not ok ☺☺
Right?! How has that much time passed?!
I started at the beginning of the pandemic, and it helped wonders! I got the sense of time passing and progress, although all was closed and stopped. I passed some very different decor phases. At the beginning I had a lot of lettering, doodles, drawings and all. Then I went all into stickers and washi tape! Now I am very minimal, and a bit on a slump. I use just one pen, one monthly spread and that is it. I got a printed planner for my tasks and it is being good. So now my BuJo is more for reflections. I wish I could get out of this and journal again everyday!
Even if it takes a while, your journal will always wait for you 💕 I’ve been really enjoying adding memory keeping spreads and pages to help me stay excited, I couldn’t recommend it enough! Little scrapbook spreads to celebrate good days are really rewarding 🥰
I kind of just stumbled into this artsy bullet journal world and started min this month ❤️ it’s a little rough starting but I’m loving another creative outlet 😊
That’s so exciting Susie! I hope it continues to serve you well in the future 🥰
@@ErinSmith thank you ❤️
I think I started May of 2019. I recently got my sister into bullet journaling and showed her all of my bullet journals. Boy oh boy is it a massive difference to how my current journal looks. It makes me happy to see improvement
Isn’t it so interesting to look back on them - like a time capsule almost!
I used to make my own journals years before I knew bullet journaling was a thing. I just could never find a journal or planner that had what I wanted. I started my first ever bullet journal for the start of Jan 2018 and haven't looked back! <3 Love that you have shared where you started Erin! You have inspired me to go back and look at how I started xo
That’s so amazing Bek - custom journaling before it was cool, now you’re out here supplying Aussie journalers with gorgeous options! What an origin story! 😍
I got a diary (so daily journal I guess?) and a random Journal/sketchbook combined for all the rest.
🖊📚🤓
I TOTALLY say eyeballs!! Haha... everytime! <3 hahaha
I’ve noticed all my friends do it too! We should start a club and get t-shirts 😉
Hi Erin! 🙋🏻♀️❤️✨ I love that you shared your first journal with us - Thank you!!! ❤️💖✨ Love, Hugs, Blessings & Sparkles! ❤️🫂🙏🏻💖✨
I started because of you! I finally decided, after watching videos for months, that I was going to try bujo. My husband got me a journal for Mother’s Day and it took me another month before I decided that I would just start it. So July of 2022 I used what I had and made my first monthly layout! Been doing it ever since. I would have never thought I would make layouts/spreads like I do now! It’s so much fun!
That’s amazing Hillary! I love so much that you started with what you had, it’s so easy to fall into the trap of ‘I need to buy xxxx before I can begin.’ 💕
My favorite color is yellow, but blue feels like home so I get it.
I’m so glad that makes sense to you! 💕
I've recently used the first stiff pages of my notebook to glue in a wishlist of seasonal activities. My books tend to last for a season so I have seasonal activies like "blowing bubbles" or build a "sand castle." They are activies that are low stakes and fun, so if I don't get to them its no big deal. If I do, I put a check mark or write the date next to it. Its also a very pretty seasonal collage that's fun to look at when I open my book.
Even though I've been journaling since highschool, I've only started trying to decorate my pages this year. It's interesting looking at the organic scrapbooking I did as a kid and the pre-planned, themed scrapbooking I'm trying now. I admit I think my book looks awful this year, but it's been fun trying new ways to write and organize. Thank you so much for being willing to share something so private with others. I hope many do find the encouragement and inspiration you provided.
This was so heartwarming. As you went through you kept mentioning how John encouraged and supported your interests by getting you stationary. It made me smile every time.
He had his own bullet journal for a while too! He’s such a sweetheart 💕
Thank you for sharing, Erin. In my first attempt, I jumped in and only did a month, and then stopped . In my second attempt, I waited until the new year, but I researched in the previously what others were doing and thought about how I wanted to use my journal ❤
Hello 👋 Erin , Carol here from Sydney I was just wondering if you Could do a you tube video on how to set up a Bullet journal and reading journal for a beginner who is getting into reading and want to keep track? Please 🙏 and Thanks
