One of Lady Thatcher’s life long enduring qualities , was her loyalty to the Monarchy and to the current Monarch. This she maintained quite steadfastly and in public despite all the allegations of “ tensions” between them .The Queen reciprocated by realising that she was fundamentally worthy of a state funeral , that she had saved the country and done far more than any other peace time PM to ensure peace and our nation’s sovereignty . They only had one absolute disagreement and it was over sanctions in South Africa, Lady T believing that they would only hurt the people…..and she was right . The Queen , marvellous in her duty and dedication is not as intelligent as portrayed nor with much vision , let alone imagination but that in many ways has been a strength for herself. Furthermore, the 1970s generation and those thereafter completely misunderstood , indeed could not even understand how and why the country was in such a mess - the new sick man of Europe. And as Keith Joseph said to the unions in 1979/80 - it’s not this government who has created the mess thus the necessity for these awful decisions - but you lot, by pricing yourselves out of the home and world market . And it certainly can be said today that we need her back and fast . And I’d also say , just as the US desperately needs the return of Reagan but alas ! IMO
