    Hello, great video and info. Ive had my 9’7” for about a year now. What length paddle would you suggest for this boat? I’m 5’9” 165.

    I would suggest a paddle length of 197 to 200.

    Hey John- good work on the Drift races. I’m attempting my first go at the 13mile this year with intent to build to the 100. My biggest question: water! How are you keeping enough? What carrying device(s) are you using on the 100? Thanks!

  • @johnsnell6315
    @johnsnell63155 ай бұрын

    Great question. The race requires you to bring a minimum amount of water containers. I use insulated water bottles and then keep them inside of a pack to keep them from freezing. The check stations also provide water (about every 25 miles). For the 100 you are required to bring a stove in case you need to melt snow. I have not had to melt any snow so far. I have used a camelpak water bottle.

    Do you still have your Mount Vision 8? How is it riding overall and durability wise? Tire looks bigger than stock 27.5”. Did you convert it to 29”?

  • @johnsnell6315

    I still have my Mount Vision 8. It is a smooth predictable ride. I have had no durability issues with it. Fun bike! Still have the stock wheels (27.5”) I think the Wolf Ridge was Marin’s 29’er.

    I used 3 inch tape on the front wheel and 4 inch tape on the back wheel. After 2.5 years, I had to redo the front wheel. It was at the bike shop and was placed next to a heater. I think the heater caused the adhesive to soften which caused the failure. I have had zero issues with the back wheel after 2.5 years.

    Has the rear suspension system been reliable? Have you done many miles on it? What’s I like doing fast drops? Does back shock lock up when pedalling down hill?

  • @johnsnell6315
    @johnsnell63152 жыл бұрын

    I haven’t had any problems with the rear suspension. I’m not sure the mileage, but I have ridden it pretty consistently the last couple of summers. I have not had the back shock lock up while pedaling downhill. I think as long as you set the suspension up properly for the rider and the type of riding that they will be doing, it should perform well for you. I have a few other videos of me riding the bike that are posted on my channel. You can check them out (they don’t really go into a review, but you can see it in action).
