    A great idea well thought out and as I read recently this concept is some way copied by others ( Vismara ) that says a lot about the chances in the market! Hope you Hop-Yacht-Guys keep on being successful! I am sure there is a lot of potential!

    I really like this inovated little cruiser for a couple. A little small for visitors. For low bridges, does the mast fold down? Is this trailerable? Bow thrusters coming?

  • @hopyacht30

    Yannasi hi … thanks for your comment. We have just equipped the latest HopYacht with a mast lowering system and this will be at the La Rochelle boat show in France. With twin electric motors you are able to turn the boat on its own axis and so it’s very easy to manoeuvre without the need for bow thrusters. While the boat is primarily designed for couples, the saloon seating converts to a single berth and the new cockpit seat design also converts to a very spacious day bed. However with the awnings enclosing the entire cockpit this too can be an extra berth. This seating area accommodates 4 people around the table. One of the disadvantages of a HopYacht is it seems to attract visitors! We have often entertain 6 or more people. The side decks / bulwarks are a comfy place to perch with drink in hand!

    where does the dinghy go?

  • @hopyacht30
    @hopyacht3010 күн бұрын

    For a dinghy you have a couple of options. There is a huge amount of room in each hull, so a dinghy could be partially deflated and stowed. On a couple of boats delivered, the owners have requested we fit a cigarette lighter type plug externally so they can plug in an inflation pump. Alternatively, a small inflatable can be stowed vertically on its side between the two aft steps. Simply position the dinghy across the stern and use the topping lift to hoist up into position. There are two eyes on the transom to the. Secure the dinghy in place. The forward trampoline is also an area for quick and easy stowage … partially deflated and folded.

    Under motor 6.8 knots and under sail we have achieved 7.1 knots momentarily. However, the HopYacht concept is to get their at a nice steady pace, happy in the knowledge that no fossil fuels being burnt! Motor sailing with electric motors is a joy, with no noise and no fumes. We often sail with the a very low throttle setting in the motors adding 300-400watts of power on each motor. This keeps the props spinning to eliminate drag and creates a positive amount of thrust to help push the boat through an awkward sea state or adverse current. Bit like e-biking! We offer a ready to sail HopYacht from around $245 000

    Watched a few videos of this nice little unit. Looks like it maybe a bit tippy in rough seas or strong winds. Likely not ideal conditions for a boat such as this. Wondering if it would benefit from a removable or lift able dagger boards. Some f-boats / corseair boats have daggers that help prevent tipping at similar size. Obviously those are trimarans though. Brilliant design here with hopyacht just gets my mind working on how to improve. Still definitely 👍👍👍. Thanks for the vid

  • @hopyacht30
    @hopyacht30 Жыл бұрын

    Mark hi ... are you referring to a tender for the yacht or an open version smaller version of the HopYacht? For a tender we recommend the E-Propulsion Spirit 1.0 electric outboard with removable battery. For an open smaller version it's not something we manufacture, however from our own experience, a design that has large cabin roof giving you plenty of real estate for solar panels is the top priority. We have 4 x 400 watt panels on the HopYacht 30 and this is proving to be optimal. Please shout if we can be of further help

    Pedro hi ... we currently use Sunpower Maxeon 3 panels which have proved to be really efficient. However, we are keen to see how well bi-facial panels will perform on yachts, especially given the reflective GRP surface they are mounted on. Do you have any info you could share?

  • @pedrozs1
    @pedrozs1 Жыл бұрын

    @@paultomes2 hello, I thought exactly that. mount them on a very reflective surface, and there are some that are made with the borders of glass too. I think they would be good for laterally diffusing light at sunrise or sunset. based on what has been said, the bifacial plates increase the effectiveness of the panel by up to 30%.

    What's in the actual hulls, though? And how do you pilot the thing in bad weather if the helm is outdoors?

  • @hopyacht30
    @hopyacht30 Жыл бұрын

    Derek hi ... The living space and cockpit area are all on one level. meaning that the hulls simply have fresh, grey and black water tanks and some of the electrics / plumbing equip. This means there is a huge amount of space for an inflatable tender / motor / Stand Up Paddleboards and folding bikes. HopYacht has been designed for bay hopping and island hopping in more sheltered waters. The boat is built to CE certification category C (2m sea state and up to 27 knots of wind). However the helm station is protected with a permanent bimini ... fitted after the video footage was shot and we have drop down awnings closing off the complete cockpit area.

    These guys are up to something. Prioritizing solar area with aft mast design is thinking outside the box. Sail design would take hit in upwind sails, but covers all other points. There have to be markets for it.

  • @hopyacht30
    @hopyacht30 Жыл бұрын

    Thank you! Upwind performance compares well with many more traditional cruising catamarans ... around 48 degrees. However electric propulsion is the secret sauce and we find adding a little bit of power (with no noise / fumes) upwind makes a real difference to performance when needed. especially in lighter winds. Our sailmaker reckons this is a bit like riding his E-bike and secretly loves the idea!

The boat has demountable hulls and can be shipped in two 40' containers. Plus the beam is the same as a typical 36-38' monohull to keep mooring costs down.

My thoughts though are implementing some changes as an option: High/low transum for dingy/beachclub with a reversible cocpit sofa (so you can sit and lookout over the sea if you wish. And I would absolutely have a bigger galley inside. Why? Because I think you have no limites to mileage and as a couple/single this could be the absolute best around the world little yacht that one could buy.

    Thank you Rob ... Love your ideas. The current Hopyacht in production has a reversible cockpit seat and fold down bulwarks to increase the floor area of the aft section of the cockpit. We designed the boat based on our own experience chartering yachts mainly in the Mediterranean, hence the external galley unit. For colder climates however your thoughts of moving the galley into the saloon are very valid and we need to look at that. The boat is not currently rated for blue water sailing (CE certification category C) however our sailmaker at North is determined to enter the Cape to Rio Race in a Hopyacht!

    The HopYacht 30 was designed by award-winning yacht designer Anton du Toit of Du Toit Yacht Design. Hopefully we can assume he knows what he's doing. Also HopYacht 30 is built in accordance with CE Category C, which means it's good-to-go in a 2m sea state with 27 knots of wind. This information was provided to us by one of the HopYacht co-owners. It would be nice if this information was more front-and-center in their advertising, since I see the above comment frequently on their videos.
