I've have the latest Phillips series 9000, the Panasonic Arc5 and Braun S9 Pro plus.. Phillips is the closest and quickest but leaves a rash/reddish under neck if getting the flat hairs .. Braun is the best IMO, especially when going over same area a few times with the tricky hairs under neck line, very gentle, the Braun pro plus trimmer (a upgrade compared to std pro model) is a far better trimmer than the phillips or Panasonic models.. At 58 second you can see the Arc5 blades are dirty before the shaving starts. For best performance, always clean your razor after a shave - regardless of brand.

Interesting, have always been a Braun guy. But on my Series 9 the power button just popped off and have had it about 3 years or so, so considering looking around. Surprised to hear it's a closer shave, most reviews say the rotary's are not as close? Also, how is it when shaving near your side burns? I can usually get a clean cut up to the side burn with the Braun, so am concerned about using a rotary. Not even sure how I'd shave a straight line? Are you still using the Norelco as your daily?

Running 9 Braun and the Norelco: dry- series 9 preferred. With pre electric liquid, gel, cream: series 9 is better. With a thin lather such as cremo or shave soap: the Norelco turns into a frigging beast. It WILL shave as close as a blade!

The lights were bullshit lol. No wonder they removed it, it is not because they wanted to "lower the price", its because it was unhelpful, annoying and took battery life. Next thing they should get rid of is the terrible angles head design and go back to the circular design. Its just harder to shave with that stupid angular design - by far, this is the only major con of philips shavers from the last several years. The stupidity is beyond me.

It has a nice clean shave. It's the best one I have tried. I had their previous series 9000 and it struggled when I let my beard grow out for a few days but this one just slices through it with no tugging or any of that.

@@wallet01 I love the beard stubble trimmer. With the shortest comb (1mm) you will still have some hair sticking out. Once your whole face is trimmed, it does look even and clean, but it is not smooth to the skin.

@@wallet01 Also, some things to consider with shave irritation. 1. try getting new blades or a new head for your shaver. 2. Try using an electric shaver but applying shave gel to your face first. Make sure to use a wet/dry electric shaver for this. Some people prefer to do this in the shower. 2. Try some after shave product such as the Nivea After shave balm. Just some of my thoughts, good luck.

I don't know how old you are talking. I have the Braun 7020s. It is just like this shaver but an older model. It doesn't have a Turbo and gentle mode. There is an older Braun 70s, but I have not used that one.

not quite, if you want as close as a blade, I think you need to try the Braun Series 9 Pro or the Philips Norelco S9000 Prestige, but the ARC 5 and Braun Series 7 are almost that close

@@bar10ml44 I could somewhat agree with the confusion. The series 5, 6, and 7 are very similar. The 8 is kinda forgotten, and rarely gets talked about. For example, I have the Braun Series 8 and haven't even made a video. But the Braun Series 9 is really a much better shaver than the others. Call it expensive or just better value, but it is a great shaver.

I would say both would work in that situation. And they both get pretty close, so you may be able to go 2 days between shaves.

I prefer Philips solely for the lower noise sound alone. I have the 5000 series and still gives me a razor close shave in less than 2 min. I imagine this is even more efficient with the more powerful motor and two tracks of cutting blades on each head vs one on the 5000 series.
