☦️You see, Modalists (most western Christians today)? The One God is the Father, and He is superior to His Logos & Spirit - they are *His* from His essence, from His authority. This is what Scripture & all fathers taught, and was corrupted by the Pseudo-Athanasian creed & later deviants in the Church. Time to fight the cancer of Modalism!!

This OUTDATED, racist and frankly colonialist theory that Ong espouses typifies the outdated view that sees the "march of progress" as the superiority of written cultures over nomadic and hunter-gatherer societies. Yet we still have oral culture co-existing wth written cultures today. Oral cultures deeply embed memories in song, poetry, culture and ceremony. The elders, the bards, those who memorised the laws and scripts, were highly valued. Knowledge was highly valued. They had medicine, science, celestial knowledge, etc. Oral culture HAS been verbatim, he is wrong also about that. Writing actually represents beginning of the systems of CONTROL that hierarchical societies embedded within thier elites; their rulers and kings, intellectuals, priests, merchants, lawyers and makers of "the Law". It is the FREEZING of meaning away from the majority of people and the stripping of power from those who dont have access to system. Ong reminds me of the Phrenologists, the "scientific" racists of the 19th Century. And the "benefits" of the democratisation of knowledge that literacy supposedly brought about is always a highly contested one; today, paperwork, legal systems, laws and media propaganda are all barriers to the true sharing of knowledge as it used to be, as the experience-base of the people.

I feel like this is v western/eurocentric. Like his assertions about early writing are true of early Greek and Latin writing but don't necessarily apply to other early writing. There are also various surviving indigenous cultures that did not have writing but whose oral traditions reflect causative development more than "2 or 3 links" in the chain, as well as immense capacity for memorization. Including oral traditions with content substantiated to be over 10,000 years old.

The idea that Stalin controlled the agenda at Yalta and Potsdam is silly. The armies of the US and USSR simply stopped where they were in 1945. In the West, Middle East, and the Pacific, Britain, France, and Belgium were now very junior partners to US foreign policy. To this day the US Navy rules the planets oceans, and through NATO, UN, IMF, and World Bank dictates trade and can and does starve any upstart economies. After the collapse of the USSR, US capital took off its gloves and now only China qualifies as an economic counterweight to US world domination. This imbalance was already apparent at Yalta and Potsdam though the USSR continued to progress for a couple decades after WW2. Churchill quietly accepted the rapid collapse of the British Empire within the new, if still incomplete, American Empire. Americans moved directly into most of the administrative apparatus everywhere the British and other European powers had ruled.

He was really in a lose-lose situation. If he did trade his son (likely for a German general or similar higher up) people would then say that Stalin only cared for himself and his family. It would be seen as an example of the privilege the “party elite” held in the USSR. So it seems to me stupid to criticize him for not saving his son as no matter what decision he made it would be taken as a excuse to shit on him by some people.

I really think some of the numbers are way over exaggerated. 30,000 officers executed ( 0:44 ) ? Bull? That would have been ALL the officers and half the enlisted soldiers. Russian by nature exaggerate everything. Maybe .... MAYBE! 30,000 officers were PURGED ... i.e., sent on their way over long period of time. But NOT executed. Maybe something like the top 100 generals and admirals were actually executed.

The Holy Trinity is revealed in the baptismal of Christ. Nothing else of explanation is needed. Matthew 3:13-17 The Baptism of Jesus 13 Then Jesus came from Galilee to the Jordan to be baptized by John. 14 But John tried to deter him, saying, “I need to be baptized by you, and do you come to me?” 15 Jesus replied, “Let it be so now; it is proper for us to do this to fulfill all righteousness.” Then John consented. 16 As soon as Jesus was baptized, he went up out of the water. At that moment heaven was opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting on him. 17 And a voice from heaven said, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.”

From just inside the cover of Ong's 'Orality and Literacy' ... "Profound changes in thought processes and in personality and social structures were brought about by the invention of writing and the transformation from one stage of consciousness to another: from primary oral cultures to literate ones. Walter Ong here surveys and interprets the extensive work done during the last few decades, … on the differences between orality and literacy." "Thought and expression in oral cultures is often highly organized but calls for organization of a sort unfamiliar to and often uncongenial to the literate mind. This organization is basically formulaic, structured in proverbs and other set expressions. It is aggregative rather than analytic, participatory rather than distanced, situational rather than abstract. Literacy, it is now clear, transforms consciousness, producing patterns of thought which to literates seem perfectly commonplace bad ‘natural’ but which are possible only when the mind has devised and internalized, made its own, the technology of writing."
