Something I see way too often is women cutting calories excessively and over indulging in cardio and HIIT workouts, wondering why their body composition isn’t changing or why they still don’t look ‘toned’ despite eating less and moving more. Here are some mistakes you might be making- 1 You are focusing on burning fat and not building muscle because you think muscle will make you look bulky but all you want is that ‘toned’ look. Muscle doesn’t care how many cals you burn in a workout because muscle burns more calories at rest AFTER your workout, raising metabolism over time. Losing fat will not help you achieve a toned look. The term ‘toned’ was invented by marketing companies to target women, when in reality you cannot tone muscle. You either grow it or not. 2 You are not thinking outside the box. Exercise only makes up 5% of your daily caloric burn, which is SO SMALL compared to 20% NEAT (non exercise movement or calories burned through day to day movements such as walking, house chores etc.) 1 hour workout will not make that much of a difference if you spend the rest of your day sitting. Move your body OUTSIDE of exercise. It contributes more than you realize and compounds over time. 3 Your deficit is most likely too small. I often see people cutting 500+ cals because they think it will yield quicker results. Unfortunately this will lead to feeling extremely hungry, low in energy, and it will affect your performance. There is also a risk of quick muscle loss. The goal is to be eating as much as you can while losing body fat. Start with as little as a 100 cal deficit. 4 You don’t realize your cal deficit has now become your maintenance. Your body adapts, meaning, if you are eating X amount of cals for some time and all of a sudden without changing anything, you stop seeing progress, you might need to make a change to daily energy expenditure or food intake in order to continue moving that needle forward. Great short intense standing cardio dumbell workout. I used 5 kg and 3 kg dumbells. So good for condition and strength the 30 min. to finish strong. I love ❤️ the excercises good that you show a quick preview before every excercise.👍 I had a good and sweaty time.😅 Thank you Olivia.👍💪❤️
