There is book on the " Philosophy of Money*, the vedy source of Marxism. I was expecting a very intellectually stimulating lecture on Kant. Yet, if in the very beginning of your lecture I can sense indication of ignorance, it's better not to proceed. You're delivering a lecture on Kant's critical philosophy. I hope that you wouldn't teach falsehood and wouldn't misrepresent Kant. The only philosopher that articulated his despise of aesthetics is Bertrand Russell.

"Philosophy is less than science"? I don't think so. The very foundation of science is philosophy itself.

God is something that visits our planet once in approximately 225 million years. If our progress pleases Him, we get to live. We must become better. We have time though. A lot.

Jungle but without the dnb in the intro. Although I am not on the same page with you about christian atheism, the stories about the grain and the chicken has a very healing quality to me. At the same time the correct execution of all human rights would suddenly produce a pretty much ideal christian world, although not an ideal world. Also I think it's cruel to have a child play along to hold up your own ideal world view without expecting them to actually play along. And if they play along and you didn't notice it even though you expected it, isn't it even more cruel? How alienated do you have to be from yourself and your child to take your expectation seriously? I get where you are going with your argument about the god who denies his own existence. But you are totally forget the mechanisms of sacrifice in judeo christian religion. 1:07:00 wtf I don't believe this movie has ever been aired in German television 😂

Žižek is glib, not eloquent. He doesn't define his terms. He simply makes passing references to other authorities -- Marx, Adorno, Benjamin, Lacan -- instead of clearly explaining the argument he's laying out as he goes. Like most if not all modern philosophers, he doesn't understand that the literary (of which cinema is a subset) is not like discourse -- it can't be mined for plausive "ideology". Ideology may be present -- in the same way the ghost in Hamlet is present -- but it is not necessarily affirmed, and odds are it is undermined by other pervasive and superseding human concerns, such as love. (Žižek, not surprisingly, gets this completely backwards in his readings of both Titanic and The Fall of Berlin.) It's not that he's unintelligent. He's simply not disciplined, and his appreciation of a distinctive non-ideological literary reference is virtually non-existent. A true "critique" of the sort Žižek claims to be making here would turn the conventional wisdom on its head to show that literary meaning is not derived from ideology, but that ideology is derived from the literary -- and then we'd have something truly radical to work with. If ideology needs to be deconstructed, it is only to reveal that its sources are ultimately literary, and the primary concerns that literature in turn reveals are universally shared human concerns -- making a living, make love, and struggling to stay free and alive. Ideology is merely the secondary derivation of how we attempt to do these things, it is not the thing itself.

The over-inflated number of 135,000 killed in the bombing of Dresden was the result of Nazi and Nazi sympathazier propaganda. The real number is now known to be up to 25,000 total.

Interesting talk. But life goes on…and now it’s all about the live action of trying to fuse east and west. Humanity must be at the liminal point right now and it really is shit or bust time. I think God is humanity itself manifesting as consciousness ie.the ‘son of man’. Tribes of the world have to be getting weary of fighting for supremacy by now surely? Syncretism is the only thing that will save us perhaps? I don’t know if I’m right.

I use to agree with his assessment. But Ramstein music and fashion has clearly been adopted by actual fascist movements. It's not subverting it anymore. Fascism owns it now.

the problem with people like zizek is that they try to criticize the status quo while using the framework of what the status quo gives them: for example "stalinism" is not a thing, it was made by red scare propagandists to demonize the soviet union

Now rewatching this there must be quite a few things wrong throughout the series that we now know better about. For one, humans were making fires with flint and wood far more recently than 7000BC. The oldest direct evidence of Hominids cooking is from 780,000 years ago and cooking was likely occuring much earlier. Humans were lighting bush fires, fire hardening their wood tools, etc.

13:42 the Trojans were Dardanians sons of Darda. Darda’s father was Zara, and Zara’s twin brother was Perez and their father was Judah. Judah is the eponym of one of The Hebrew tribes of Israel called the tribe of Judah. They’re kings of the land of Israel promised to Abraham their patriarch father of Isaac, and the grandfather of Israel who died in Egypt along with his 14 sons including Joseph and Benjamin. The Perezites and Sons of Zara and Darda are angry because they feel they have the birthright and they were cheated out of it. Those were the Trojans, and after the Trojan war with Aneas son of Aphrodite and the mortal Anchises left to Italy. Also, Odysseus’s progeny went there and who later became the Romans by their progenitor Romulus the twin brother of Remeus sons of Mars or Hercules and Rhea Silvia Romulus and Remus were the direct descendants of Aeneas through their mother's father, Numitor. Numitor was a king of Alba Longa, an ancient city of Latium in central Italy, and father to Rhea Silvia. Before Romulus' and Remus' conception, Numitor's reign was usurped by Numitor's younger brother, Amulius. Amulius inherited control over Alba Longa's treasury with which he was able to dethrone Numitor and become king. Amulius, wishing to avoid any conflict of power, killed Numitor's male heirs and forced Rhea Silvia to become a Vestal Virgin. Vestal Virgins were priestesses of Vesta, patron goddess of the hearth; they were charged with keeping a sacred fire that was never to be extinguished and to take vows of chastity. - worldhistory.org

I need to know if at 41:54, the camera panning in just on Zizeks hand to visually signal that he is “hand waving” in his talk at the moment. Was this intentional and was this meant to be what I interpreted as? 😂😂
