Being a car enthusiast all my life, I started rebuilding my abandoned Jaguar S-Type 4.2 V8 Sport (X200) in a rented garage on August 31, 2019. Ever since I try to work consistently on this restoration project and release an update here on KZread once a week.
From time to time I´m publishing tutorials on one of my other cars (Mercedes E500 4matic, Cadillac Seville SLS, Mercedes A150) as well.

I always do 👍 Thanks for watching!
The hole to loosen the control arm nut (WD40) is straight on the front side of the bumper, right above the plastic "scratch" block, you can use a extended tool and insert there, and apply great force easy.. to tighten it should work from the holes above the control arm. Unpleasant thing is that, altough it can be done with partially removing clips and bolts of the bumper, but better is take it completely off, if theres no choice.
Hello sir is it possible to switch Uk 🇬🇧 right hand drive headlight to Europe lhd ? My car it’s from Uk and fails inspection because of RHD headlights. Can it’s be done to switch to LHD side . Thanks .

Thanks for the post. All parts of the job done correctly, thanks for bolt head sizes and torque figures.

Where do you get batteries for a Mercedes key e class 2006 4mathic
Those are common CR 2025 batteries - you'll get them in any electronic store (and on Amazon, of course). Thanks for watching!
What’s the car next to your Jag? Is that a BMW , 3 series? Older?
Far from that - it's a 5th gen Cadillac Seville 😀
@@AUTOdidact77 😁 what are your sins that you were blessed with Cadillac?
Honestly I´ve been a huge fan of us cars for all my live - the Jaguar (and also my E-Class) just "happened" to me when I grew older. In the 80s, as a kid, I cut out adverts of the "bustleback" (2nd gen) and the downsized 3rd gen Seville, which were so special compared to my dad´s Ford Taunus and all the other European cars of that era. Of course I ended up with neither of those but one equipped with the infamous Northstar V8. However, I´don´t regret it and maybe there will be a collection of all 5 Seville generations one day...
@@AUTOdidact77 I always liked the German V8 sedans , growing up in Romania those were the dream cars. The first car I ever drove ,after getting my license , was a W124. That’s when I fell in love with Mercedes. In 2003 , a neighbor had a friend over and that guy was driving the newly released Jaguar S-Type. When I saw that car I said one day I’ll have one. In 2004 I moved to the States and in 2007 I bought a 2004 Jaguar S-Type 4.2 When it comes to American cars , I like the 1978 Cadillac Coupe Deville, some older Chevy trucks and of course their huge station wagons 😁 Anyway, depending on the condition probably you can have all 5 generations.
Over there (in the US), I could have acquired 4th or 5th gen Sevilles almost for free - they´re considered junk because of their engine. On the other hand mine has as-new interior which is really hard to find and was the reason I "had" to go for it (even though I have no special affinity towards the 5th gen besides it being the last). I´ve been inside two older Mercedes (W123 and W124) as a kid - both were taxis (and Diesels), the first much louder than my dad´s Ford, the second impressively quite (obviously a 5-cylinder). Never experienced a Mercedes V8 prior to my own though...
Fyi...this worked on my 2005 Mercedes key ..not the other videos
Thanks for watching!
hey man i replaced my e55 battery yesteray with a brand new one. i appreciate the tutorial and everything works great. besides my sunroof now refusing to open. slightly confused lmk if you know anything
kzread.info/dash/bejne/m4Jtm6SwmrDeg8o.html Oops, mine has a sunroof too, but I never have it open... This procedure may help - thanks for watching!
New, +50cv😂
Excellent video thank you for posting. I have the same model with the 5.5v8 i was wondering what the torque specs are for the oil filter and drain plug?
Thanks for watching! Oil Filter: 25 Nm (as written on the cap) Drain Plug: around 30 Nm
@@AUTOdidact77 thanks mate I think I may need to replace pcv valve as bit of smoke on start up only occasionally not consistent
U will be owner one of the best car ever in best condition! Keep Going!
That´s what I´m also telling my car, but the Jag is already getting a little impatient 😀
@@AUTOdidact77 We all here wanna see it on a road)))))))))
Thank you so much for this video. I am taking out my brake bracket to take care of some rust and this video helped!
Thanks a lot for watching!
What is the oil filter cap remover called. And what size or fit do i need. S550 2010 w221 273
I would call it an oil filter cap wrench - size is 74/14 (74 mm diameter, 14 edges).
@AUTOdidact77 thanks man
nice work, however , what is the mann filter numbers? and what oil type in usage? thank you
As mentioned in the video description, it´s HU612/1x. The oil needs to meet MB 229.5 spec, I always use Shell Ultra Helix 5W40 in both of my Mercedes (also the E-Class) because that´s really cheap to get here in Austria.
Please I would love to see the asorpher pad
Thank you for my e55 dead battery!
Hi there, would like to seek your opinion about owning an A150. Is it worth buying a used 2005 A150 with 100k km mileage? Any general main issues that I need to be aware of when viewing/testing the car before deciding whether to buy it or not? Is it difficult to find car parts or engine parts for this 2005 A150 nowadays? Thanks.
Do you have a good system when it comes to all the bolts and nuts that were removed ? I feel like this would be my biggest issue when tackling an huge project. Unless it’s something that I can finish in 2-3 days and I can remember where everything goes 😁😁
I'm afraid I (will) have no idea, but at least it's on video 🤔
Thank you for the video. I also make a video about Mercedes W169 and W245
Oh yes, really interesting stuff on your channel! Thanks for watching!
@@AUTOdidact77 would love a video in this model replacing the serpentine belt
Was lagert da wie, Autodidact? Hab gerade auch einen W169, 116 PS, Bj. 2009, scheinbar alles in Ordung, steht schön in einer TG.
God he makes it hard forhimself?????
Probably yes, because the hole to loosen the control arm nut is straight on the front side of the bumper, right above the plastic "scratch" block, you can use a extended tool and insert there, and apply great force easy.. to tighten it should work from the holes above the control arm. Unpleasant thing is that, altough it can be done with partially removing clips and bolts of the bumper, but better is take it completely off, if theres no choice.
I have the W212 chassis with the same engine. In order to have the max on the dipstick, I had to put 9.5 litters. What is your oil capacity to Max?
Honestly I always stop halfway between min and max, otherwise the engine can easily be overfilled due to oil dilution (fuel or water). This equals the "official" capacity of 8.5 l btw. Some oil always remains in the engine, so I always end up adding 8.2 or 8.3 l. If your total capacity is 9.5 l, mine will be as well.
Nice video. However, after replacing the battery there is another step which is registering the battery with a scanner or taking it to the dealer for that service. This allows the vehicle ECU to monitor the new battery.
Super
Thanks for watching!
Dude thank you flearing my mind about the 2nd oring in the man oil filter. I did oil on my A150 7 days ago but this time with an original filter. That one came with jus one oring. What i suspect now is that filter is used on probably multiple engine versions
Thank you man ..i know now where my batery is.....
You're welcome 😉
Thank you!

What oil was used?
A 229.5 spec 5W40 (Shell Helix Ultra). Thanks for watching!
@@AUTOdidact77 is 0w40 a better one to use? It's also a 229.5
@@ImNuhxy It's equally good I would say. The previous owner also used 5W, so I continued doing so. On an older car as mine I would be a little concerned of higher oil consumption after changing to a "thinner" oil. In a really cold environment 0W may be even better of course.
@@AUTOdidact77 well I'm in California, so I'll probably us a 5w as you recommended :) also I have purchased the Mobil 1 M1C-253A filter. It's made from a synthetic material and not fleece as Mercedes itself recommends. Would you recommend me at least only driving on this filter for a couple of thousand miles and changing it ASAP? Thank you for answering my questions by the way. I appreciate the help!
@@ImNuhxy I wouldn't mind using this filter since it's allegedly an improvement over the OE one (and priced higher as well btw). On the other hand you may wanna stick to your intervals and not extend those regardless of the promised longer lifetime...
Use jack from bottom to put some pressure on it. That will help u.
BMW used these types of hardware for years. Annoying. Good vid my friend.
Thanks, also for watching!
helpful video.. thanks ..

Hi good job, where did you buy thé repair kit ? Please thank you
Thanks, which kit do you mean?
Is that a 4.2 v8 and did you say you didn’t have to take the motor mount out
Yes, it´s a 4.2 and I didn´t remove the engine mounts before.
with 95 ah and 800A for my w211 e200 , 2.2 136 hp? Is the battery strong enough?
Good luck with the project in the new year!
Let's see if I can get it finished before its 5th anniversary...
