Yeah this tells you how to correct a colour profile on laptop to projector, but what about colour correcting a projector from another source that isn't a computer? Eg a Chromecast, Xbox, Blu-ray etc.

all the postprocessing apart from color correction and bg removal is automated using python. for bg removal, i tried a paid app called picelcut, had really good results but can only process 6 images at a time. I also wrote a script with python opencv but the results were not perfect but convinced it is possible. I will take a look at Autoretouch!

pretty sure that opening the lamp door is what actually made a difference for you that puny heatsink is rated for something like 80 watts, and your bulb uses 300 watts (with most lost as heat)

Mine w1080st was overheating after lamp replacement, just did the cleaning and keeps the temperature. If your heat sink does a good job you can reduce the fans speed ,go to the hidden menu, press menu, then enter and source at the same time. A few options with the test patterns are available, fan speed control, color wheel timing etc... Very useful to check every now and then.

I fix this issue all the time. This projector has 4 fans and usually it’s fan 1 that if replaced will work perfectly. Hope this helps

Yikes. I can see how this could help, but since you bypassed the safety switch, you are potentially exposing yourself to very high voltage and deadly current from the ballast. Also, super glue to hold the heatsink in place is a temporary fix. That will eventually breakdown from the extreme heat. Thermal glue might (might) be a better option.

webspark first make sure you tether your camera if your using Lightroom or Capture one. Set your White Balance in camera and any color profiles on your photo editing software. For post processing never ever ever compare your photos on monitor with the actual product outside the light box as this will create color inconsistencies. If you ever eyeball it do it in the light box while tethered. This saves a huge amount of time.

JR E thanks for the great advice! tethering is nice, I use it with the nikons now. In terms of color, I always get color shifts in the purples even after WB is applied regardless of camera.

Hello I am having the overheating issue since day one. Before didn’t have this problem because I was in the northeast. No in FL and in a 2nd story house is different. It overheats every 45min or so. I am going to install the Heatsink this weekend. Question: 1. Do we need this size of heatsink? 2. Did the heatsink never fell down because of the heat on the glue? Mine will be right above my head! 3. Any other advice before doing this?

Mauricio Castellanos 1. bigger ones have more surface area for cooling; there are some models that are quite lightweight like the one I linked in the desc. I also have a big fan next to my projector and need the Ac turned on. 2. It didnt fall yet, but I also ziptied the heatsink to the projector in case the glue fails. 3. I think putting a fan next to the projector makes the biggest difference.

I've been using my w1070 8 hours daily for the past 3 years like a pc monitor (fans high though) never overheated. But i like your idea, I will do that too.

Yeah, but that is just the way it goes with these things. Mine has this exact issue, I just replaced the bulb unit to no avail. Obviously it cannot be ALL of them because then they would get horrible reviews... it seems to be about 1 in 20 of them.

This solution is redonkulous. It might be glass shards blocking your cooling fan! This projector should not overheat. I recently changed the lamp on my W1070 and it started to overheat. When the lamp popped I heard glass fly. I opened it and removed the lamp and tapped hard (Not too hard) on the side of it. SEVERAL small pieces of glass fell out. I again hit it pretty hard (not too hard) and 3 more came out. Overheating problem SOLVED. NOTE: Vacuum dust first! I knocked a piece of dust into the lens area and had to open it up again 'cus it showed up on the screen. I used a vacuum to remove dust around the lens while inside the lamp compartment. Problem solved. Note: This is a tricky and sensitive instrument and not handling it properly could jeopardize your projector. Use this solution with caution. The complete disassembly of this projector to get to the fan that gets blocked looked vary long and involved.

@@KevinSmith-hh2uv Kevin, I had a piece of broken glass blocking the cooling fan. I don't want you to break your projector but I tapped on it to knock the glass loose and it fell out and then didn't overheat anymore. Try to figure out where the fans are on your projector and see if one of them is not spinning. That's the fan with a piece of glass blocking it. Hope this helps.

Amazing tutorial thanks for sharing this video However, i have one concern. If you had to correct the color of the shoes as illustrated in your video, then what is the use of calibrating your screen. I mean if you are going to end up with color related issues, then why should I bother with buying a calibration device.

Adam Adam your calibrating the screen to make sure your screen is color accurate; all color edits on the screen are therefore hopefully accurate. We had several cases with customers returning products because they say its not the same color as what they thought they are getting; hence all this extra trouble to mininize returns.

Your color discrepancies are probably coming from the inferred spectrum, it's a real problem for digital cameras, look into it, see if it lines up, there are ways to fix it easier than what your doing I believe.

Do professional product photographers use this method of cutting the product out and artificially placing it on a white 255 background? This is the method I use, but I'm not certain if this is the amateur method. Do you know? I'm on a search to take better product photographs for my product and it's very hard to find the right information.

I used to strive for best results but I optimize and automate now. Other than Pentool & quick selection tools, I've seen "Pros" use the blending modes in photoshop to achieve similar results. Different backdrops & lighting also changes the retouching; so does using models. These days, you can outsource the retouching or use programs to automate it. It saves a huge amount of time. Hope this helps.

Help :)! I get an achieved luminance of 8cdm. My whitepoint is ok but the luminance is soooo low. I did a reset of my monitor before calibrating. Settings where used as in this video.

Saying you calibrated the projector is a bit of a misnomer. You haven't calibrated the projector at all, you calibrated the Video Output of the PC for use with that projector, screen and ambient light conditions..

On my Dell laptop (4k) only some apps will get the correct profile after calibration. These are the Adobe ones, Fastone (if you check an option for it in settings), Chrome... But you could never see a correct colour in Explorer or with the built in photo viewer of Windows 10. Is it only happening to me?

The problem is ICC profile version 4. Recalibrate & and use ICC profile version 2. That should fix the issue.

Fun fact, those 18% grey cards are actually used to calibrate exposure in video shoots (check out Tom Antos' video). People still use it to adjust color balance because it's cheaper than buying those xrite color pallettes (I think). I personally like using the grey colored card (from trial and error). I don't think color balance will change when you move the lights around unless your using a mix of color balanced light sources. Hope this helps.

What do you think the best F stop is for product photography for E-Bay like F11? I am using a 50mm should I use a variable aperture lens and zoom in and out to fill screen or just crop after with the 50mm?

@@LavakeTT You can try out several F stops and check if the entire product is in focus (f8 might be a good starting place). I think 50mm is cool regardless of crop factor. If you fill the frame with the product, it will be difficult to post-edit (unless you automate post-editing with python or something). I recommend leaving some space around the edges for flexibility.

very nice. i did that on my epson 5030 ub. i have no problems with it but a mod like this makes bulb and component work effortlessly. This thing is running on high and i cant even hear the fan.
