  Thank you! Food could be a bit of challenge outside big cities as options will be limited. I’m vegetarian too and survived quite ok there.

  Thank you so much! The best time to visit depends on what you b want do. I travelled in July and it was great to do c most stuff, though it can get sometimes (not like India in summers though). However, if you want explore snow and winter adventures, you must plan after November 🙌

  Thanks for the suggestion Nandita. I do feel most comfortable, however, in the language I grew up speaking - a mix of Hindi, Urdu and English - at home and outside. The first two are Indian languages (with words from Arabic and Persian in the latter), and the last one is not - but I see all three as my own. These are the languages I think in and speak as well. I’ve tried learning other languages of the subcontinent and hopefully someday I’ll use a bit of Tamil as well (I love the language), apart from these three :)

  History of Mathura and no mention of Sri Krsna?? I stopped the vdo there n there.

  There’s an entire section (Chapter 1) on Krishna. I didn’t include Krishna in history section as I try to keep this part based on material evidences or published literature. I’m not a historian and so go with what’s been published. In the 1950s one of India’s most reputed archeologists, BB Lal, worked extensively on ‘Archaeology of Mahabharat sites’ and that also doesn’t mention Krishna in excavations. I understand it’s a complicated subject as this is where history and belief meets. We don’t have to see it as conflict though and also not try to necessarily mix them up. We’ll surely learn more as more excavations are done and more discoveries made.

  Kaal Bhairav, Markandey Mahadev, Vishalakshi Shaktipeeth, Tulsidas Mandir, Durga Mandir, Swarved Mandir are few places in and around the city that you can experience too. Yogis cafe, Sparrow cafe and many other such small, cozy cafes are there in the same area that you can explore. Since, I know you like Cafes a lot, like me.
