  Was inspired by a very small gif of gear-like shapes in a similar orientation, but it was very very basic graphics with some cheating physics going on (they were bending). I designed the rest from there.

  It's a stainless steel wire brush that was a cheap generic one from ebay (Would have it on Amazon and similar from many DIY/hardware stores). I wasn't using the material correctly, but it was just a quick test to show some real world test; can be strong if done properly, but has drawbacks like melting previously done nearby joints.

  Thanks. It's been way slower progress than I'd hoped, but it's actually way better now. Quiet, safer, compact, faster to print, and cleaner overall. Only remaining issue is making the core inner rings reliably, e.g. the SLS printed one in the video has poor tolerance and the dye is coming off onto the white BBs turning them gray.

  I've been working hard to iron out all the issues with it. So far everything is about as good as I'd hoped except the core inner part. The failure rate on printing them or time taken to correct them is too high, they take just over 24hrs to print and having them fail is a big waste of time. The one in the video was produced commercially, but the tolerance is poor on it and the dye is wearing off onto the white ball bearings making them gray. I'm not entirely sure when I'll figure out a decent solution as most 3d printing tech isn't designed for the accuracy required for this to work well. I thought it would be much sooner, but this last big issue is also the hardest to solve.

  I hope to be able to, yes. Although at the moment it takes too long to make them reliably and some other issues I'm still sorting out with the design. It's a lot harder to construct well than other 3D prints.

  If you look at it the horizontal gears are not in mesh with the vertical gears. I can see the source of rotation for the vertical gears but can’t see the source of rotation for the horizontal gears.

  They're all meshed in a loop (Except the drive gear). You have to follow it carefully from one to the next. It's easier to see on my newer one linked at the top of the description.

  Yeah I mention in the description. I was literally just testing to get a rough idea on scrap. The fact that one broke and the other didn't is actually useful to show that it's still not too bad with improper application. If you spent time to get it perfect, it should be better than both of these.

  Yeah true. I would have done, but too much background noise got picked up and so little sound to it as is except balls snapping in place. It's sped up too as there's not much content.
