    A beautiful video of managed forest in Northern Sweden. I live in Southern Tasmania surrounded by similar managed forests and the devastation of cleared areas nearby. However I have a large acreage we are determined to protect for the future generations. Your commentary is soothing, amusing and interesting and your journey to restore such gorgeous old buildings has connected with my heart and soul. Thank you and all the best.

Stående stockar blir helt styva i höjdled.

    That first big pine, what an old giant, must be +200 years old... So sad to see the clearcut behind your house! But a very nice property, and you seem to relish the "old ways" and I think you have found your "Eden".

  • @noorderling

    I was told the pine is probably 700-800 years old. It is the largest Pine in the Province. It has a breast height diameter of 103 cm. As the winters are long and cold, they don't grow as fast. The clearcut was a bit of a disappointment to be honest. If they would only leave every 10th or 15th tree on the plot, it would have been a lot less worse and probably a lot better for the regrowth too.

  • @wertywerrtyson5529
    @wertywerrtyson55294 күн бұрын

    My mom has a wooden stove. It’s not illegal. However you need to have it inspected every other year or so to make sure it’s safe to use. I don’t think it’s illegal not to be connected to the grid. However there are rules regarding water from showers and washing that it needs to be filtered before released into the ground. It’s not as harsh as for water from a toilet but you technically can’t release water from showering or doing dishes directly into the ground.

    Nice piece of heaven you’ve found there. Just a friendly advice that in Sweden you are required by law to get approval before sharing aerial photos and videos of Sweden on the internet. It doesn’t cost anything but every piece of drone footage needs to be uploaded to Lantmäteriet’s website for approval. I think the risk of being caught is minimal but there are hefty fines if you share unapproved footage online. Welcome to Sweden 😂😊

    You got your work cut out for ya! About the sawdust. Be careful when replacing it and do your homework. It might actually have been the one thing that saved the rest of the house from even worse rot and mold. the sawdust "breathes". It is hygroscopic and can take a bit of leakage etc. Whereas would you just replace it with Rockwool straigjt off or such you might get into trouble. The way these old houses are built. The layers, no moisture barriers, log walls and foundations where changes can be chatastrophic. Especially with "modern living", change of heating system and so on.
