A sardonic dismantlement of the original. I dunno ... I guess I've seen (and heard) this sort of schtick too many times. I know, lots of people are alienated within their local scenes. I was myself as a teenager and young man. It's very easy to take somebody else's words and music and smirk at them. It's much harder to create your own original work in the same musical vein and convey a different message. The original (by Gerry and the Pacemakers) is far better simply because it is what it says it is: a hopeful song about the kinship the singer feels in his home community (of Liverpool, England). if you don't feel that kinship, then write a song about that. That would be quite legitimate and, if done well, very interesting.

Watching this in 2024. Superb musicianship, amazing vocals and you can feel the fun everyone is having. They're not trying to sound like the record, they are playing live and putting on a performance. Is there anyone now doing this sort of performance with this calibre of musicianship?
