The title of this song came out of a pub conversation between a friend and I about the what had happened in the Middle East since "Desert Storm" and my friend commented "We've been turning pebbles into dust for over 20 years" and his words stuck in my head.
I was reminded of the Michael Moore movie "Fahrenheit 9/11" and the scenes showing young men being recruited to the US Marines.
Let me state very clearly that I have nothing but the utmost respect for the brave men and women who were sent away from their homes to fight wars in foreign lands and made the ultimate sacrifice. That same respect applies to those who were fortunate to come home but will always bear the scars of their deployment.
That said, I am a pacifist and hope that one day I will live on a planet where people no longer feel the need to kill each other.
