what Focusrite model are you using to handle the required # of outputs? this clarifies so much for me. Next summer will be the first when I debut my new project using Ableton tracks, and dialing in the live sound is so very important. Your video has explained thoroughly, exactly what I need to start working with in my rehearsal studio to practice getting the live sound I want. thank you!

Hey! I’m using the 18i20. Which model are you using?
@dgodrummer8110Ай бұрын
@@ThisIsTorch I currently have two 2i2 units. but obviously will have to get unit w/ more outs, for working out a decent live sound. I'd like to get a full band sound with the duo. I'll be switching live between playing acoustic drums w/ a Roland SPD-SX, and bass guitar. I figured I'd run my bass tracks (when playing drums) to my bass rig to hear the bass better. I've struggled with hearing it loud enough in my monitor, a QSC 12.2, when it's mixed in with all the other instruments. Some experimental monitor mixing is needed. I'm still trying to wrap my head around the simplest way to mix a live sound using Ableton tracks. Your video was so very helpful, though I need to spend time actually mixing it in the practice room. I plan on setting up a stage in the practice room exactly how I'd like to perform live with with mains and monitors.Lots of time needed to play around with this in the rehearsal space to dial it in. your video definitely gave me a big push in understanding what I need to start learning and working towards. thanks.

@ThisIsTorchАй бұрын
Hey! I'm using a 3rd generation interface but it looks like your 2nd generation will also work with Focusrite Control :). 1st generation users are out of luck with FC but seems to use something called 'Scarlett Mix Control' instead. @ThisIsTorchАй бұрын
@@deepzepp4176 ok yea, just looked at the manual for your 2nd Gen 2i2. Seems like there's no software download at all...only if you use a windows computer would you have to install drivers...on a Mac, nothing to download...just plug and play basically and your computer would automatically recognize it. I think since it's a pretty basic model interface FR didn't find it necessary to include any software for routing.

18:30 - So I just got the 18i20 and for now plan to use it in standalone mode to mic all my drums and output everything to line 1-2 which will then go to another drum interface w/ midi (Yamaha EAD10) and then from there to my PC. So basically for each line output would need to change custom mix to playback 1-2? It'll just be sent as stereo which is fine. I talked to their customer service and they did say this is possible and that settings in this control panel will save to Focusrite's memory. Just wanted to confirm this is how to do it.

At that point, you’de be using something called Sapphire Mix Control instead of what I’m using, Focusrite Control. I hope this helps, let me know!

thank you so much! this works great also in Live 12. One small tip to get the Bpm at a round number: Set the automation at two numbers that are 127 bpm apart. Midi signals range from 1-127, so If I set my range to 100bpm-227bpm, a midisignal of 40, will give me a bpm of 140 and a signal of 80 will give me 180 bpm. you can also just set the range to something a little more useful like 70bpm-197bpm, if you want. Works the same.
