    Well presented! Thank you! Is there wheelchair assistance available for seniors who need support, to carry them from the station to the rail? And is there a rental car office near by the station in Ottawa? I am planning on taking my senior parents from Toronto to Ottawa for a 3 day tour, mid-August this year, and your video is really helpful.

    These are good questions and best left to VIAs website or help centre. I did another via video from Ottawa - Montreal and you can see inside Ottawa stn at the start which may provide some clarity. Enjoy your trip!.

    Hi Andrew, Excellent Video. I'm envisaging travelling to SIA Changi Airport then onto Bangkok. Were you happy with your seat 16K if facing forward is the window on the right next to the seat. Any comments on the dual seating. If you happen to take a flight on SIA A350-900 from BNE to SIA please let me know. I'm a 75 year male and never flown with SIA always Thai Airways. They stopped direct flights leaving BNE to BKK. So now I will use SIA unfortunately layover at Changi. Your help would be greatly appreciated indeed. John Mc ( Gold Coast Australia ) Take care

    Gold Coast! Wonderful place...was there in March! A) my seat was right beside the window. In the cabin overview I mention which rows the seats are by the window and which are by the aisle. All seats are great anyway. B) I have no plans for Australia travel at this point. Last year, I did Sydney - Singapore. That video may be of value: kzread.info/dash/bejne/onmumauRc5XHYaw.htmlsi=YZFwvjnqDp8Y-hJ1 C) although you have a layover in SIN, it's a very good airport to transfer. Enjoy your trip John. Thanks for watching!

    I can't imagine sitting on this plane for longer than a few hours, and even then, I would consider this to be an uncomfortable flying experience. I wonder how much success the airline will have on these longer haul services.

  • @theglobalpeasant
    @theglobalpeasant2 күн бұрын

    It definitely takes some people some time to get used to long haul flights. Porter only serves North America with their longest flight being Toronto to LA.. so not long haul in the traditional sense. But they do offer a nice product for north American travel.

  • @theglobalpeasant

    To my surprise, no. Mileage accumulation is based on booking class (there's a lot of them). In my particular ticket, there was none for this leg, but others there was for this itinerary.

    For transfers I prefer DFW, but because I’m usually flying out of MEX I avoid transferring at ORD: even after an expensive refit T5 is still a cluster. (That shouldn’t deter one from visiting Chicago though, great city)

    It's unfortunate, before COVID the business class lounge used to serve small snacks, and the meal was more substantial. There was a salad/appetiser course that was served prior to the main course. This service was reduced and never reinstated again. Perhaps they should focus less on the mask recommendation at the start of the trip and instead provide more food for their customers...

    One of my biggest complaints with VIA Rail is the restriction on baggage weight. Message to VIA: "YOU ARE NOT A PLANE! You do not need weight restrictions. I presume the train is staying on the ground, no?" Planes need this so that they can get off the ground. Trains do not have this same restriction so why make it a big issue when boarding trains. By eliminating the weight restrictions you would get many more people travelling by train that couldn't fly without paying extra for overweight baggage. It would be a good selling point. But as it stands, you, Via Rail are destroying the capability of Canadians to travel effectively and efficiently.

    Some video discrepancies, VH-8IC was Virgins second MAX 8 Aircraft so depending when you filmed they would've had at least 2, currently they have 5 delivered. @@theglobalpeasant Classic VA always slow to update. I have seen all 5 Max's personally you can check on flight radar VH-8IA,8IB,8IC,8ID and 8IF and they'll all come up. I've confirmed the moving map is in the first screen you go to when connecting to it, instead of going to the movies, scroll all the way to the bottom and then it'll be on the left if you ever fly again and hasn't changed by then :)

    Very well presented video. I think the lack of lounge access answers the question: Porter Reserve is premium economy, not business class. With a standard business class fare on other airlines, most travelers would expect lounge access to be included.

  • @theglobalpeasant
    @theglobalpeasant2 ай бұрын

    This is true, at least in Canada. Porter Reserve is generally (not always) cheaper than WS or AC bus class. The included food and drinks are quite welcomed. Fun fact, Porter used to have their own "lounge" in YTZ offering complementary snacks and drinks, but this is a thing of the past.
