    I've got my modi hooked up to my computer and a magni for my headphones. How would I connect the modi to my receiver if the RCA connections are already being used? Coax is currently not being used.

    Digital output is definitely a welcome feature on a older CD player but IMHO what is even more important is the availability of reasonably priced replacement laser optical pickup units. I suggest always researching what pick up is in a particular CD player and whether replacements are easily available.

    Great advice, thank you. I once bought a used player that died on me and the replacement laser was more expensive than buying a brand new unit lol!

    Great review. I agree with others that this is mostly marketing glitz, to include (likely mediocre) MC functionality. Set that aside, and just look at this as a really solid, hundred dollar MM option. It’s great for us consumers to have good options in this price range! My main systems preamp has a nice built in phono input, but in two other systems, I use an NAD PP 2e; I’ve been very satisfied with that phono preamp. Keep up the good work… I have just ‘subscribed’!

  • @ForeverAnalog
    @ForeverAnalog5 күн бұрын

    Thank you for the kind words! I really enjoyed the MM function and playback at this price but yeah, the MC features seem like they are targeting the wrong audience lol. Thanks for the sub!

  • @MattCoykendall1
    @MattCoykendall16 күн бұрын

    Hey! I have this one in for review as well. I tested the MC side on a Denon DL-103r it handles it and is useable but could use a bit more gain for MC. I agree with your thoughts that this is going to be primarily a MM preamp though, good review....now I guess I better get mine wrapped up ha!

  • @ForeverAnalog
    @ForeverAnalog6 күн бұрын

    Thanks for sharing! Yeah, I was tempted to buy a MC cart to test this preamp, but in the end I felt folks using MC would probably rarely pair it with a $99 preamp, lol. Looking forward to your review!

  • @TheNorliss
    @TheNorliss6 күн бұрын

    A bit odd that it offers gain from 0dB to 39dB. In what scenario would you ever be needing a phono pre-amp with 0dB or with anything much less than 30-odd dB, for that matter? Also, to do MC properly is difficult and cheapie devices like this have it purely for marketing reasons as they think it looks better value for money. I'd be willing to bet it doesn't do well with MC carts and anyone going to the trouble and expense of buying an MC cart will most likely be wanting a higher quality phono pre than this, in all honesty.

  • @ForeverAnalog
    @ForeverAnalog6 күн бұрын

    I agree. Overall it's a great MM preamp, but I doubt people who've spent hundreds (or thousands) on a MC cart will settle for a $99 preamp lol. Thanks for watching and commenting!

    Tubes in most modern equipment are used in Cathode Follower circuits. They actually offer no gain ... buffers as Aaron says. Gimmicks indeed.

    How would you compare the Aiyima to the Schiit Mani (IK the Mani is $50 more), assuming you've had the opportunity to use the Mani?

  • @ForeverAnalog
    @ForeverAnalog6 күн бұрын

    I no longer have the Mani so I hesitate to compare since I haven't used it in a long time. I do like the idea of a gain knob on the T3 Pro over the switch on the Mani in terms of features.

    Legit question, how does a two channel amp work with a single power supply and not have the noise issue? Isn’t a two channel amp just two monos in a single chassis?

    I've had a pair of Omen Def Supreme's with a pair of REL subwoofers for over a year - I am very content for the moment. I'd never say I would not trade up. I just have not heard anything that moves me as much as this combo. Paired with PrimaLuna tube amp and preamp - sources are mostly vinyl and limited streaming with a Sonore/Gustard system.

    id love one of these with the remote but i use a dumb amp switch. just a passive device with nothing to offer to the signal chain. hate having to switch it all the time but i cant imagine how all the circuitry in the devices in this video plus 5v power and RF dont affect the signal chain in some way.

    Let me give you audiophile advice. Buy a CD-Drive and a separate DAC. You will be amazed at the difference. BTW I am using a high quality 25 year old DAC by MSB (that cost a fortune way back them) and it still sounds amazing -- it has its own power supply. But a separate drive makes all the difference.

    Most people dont know a shit about how digital tech work, the medium where the bit are encoded is not so important, can be USB, SSD hardrive or optical disc, but your player must have a good memory bandwith to stream the data to HDMI on your video system and receiver/amplifier that are able to descramble the data stream to sound and picture, even a computer a Xbox or PlayStation should be able to stream the data to HDMI to your favorite amp and streamer device, with a full quality.
