    I have a question in relation to what he said about failing God. I know we fail God all the time, but aren't there times when He disciplines us for our unrighteousness. Case in point, when David killed Uriah, God disciplined him for that yet he had already failed God numerous times. Is it okay to believe that when we miss the mark, sometimes God resorts to lovingly discipline us?

    Listening now and at 20:22, in reference to the word of Jeremiah to the false prophet being removed from the face of the earth, why is it said "thank God for the New Covenant...excommunication...amen"? Is this implying that this type of declaration and judgement no longer applies? Did the New Covenant do away with this? I am confused by this statement.

    When I share the Gospel I win. Because I've been obedient, rather than disobedient. By the power of the Holy Spirit I have overcome fear or laziness. Whether the person accepts Christ, or is hardened, or the seed is merely planted is up to God. It's up to the work of the Holy Spirit. Credit or achievement was never mine - even when they believe. So I can literally say, "I led someone to Christ... but they rejected Him." I take focus off of self and the notion of personal achievement. It keeps me humble. I keep my eyes on Christ. The victory has already been won - by Christ. God is sovereign. The world, the church are exactly as he has ordained. That is true optimism. And it fires me up to share my faith! 😊

    Why do you guys play these worldly music , while talking about reform THEOLOGY ????

  • @BrazosEyrie
    @BrazosEyrie9 күн бұрын

    Great lecture, @VoddieBaucham . I only wish you had included the errors of Christian Nationalists (in their group - most attached to the Moscow crowd in some way). The errors: Federal Vision and Theonomy. These are huge errors. In the "reformed" Baptist world, they are embracing these errors because of a vocal man who has a lot of wanna-be followers. It's hurting the Baptist world. I'm historic, confessional Reformed (Continental) -- and it's so easy to see how easily Baptists have gotten sucked into the Moscow crowd so full of error. I won't elaborate, but Covenant Theology, properly understodod, matters. But I do appreciate your reminder to do what Daniel did -- to live well where God had planted him, even if it is in Babylon. We all need to hear this.

    30:24 "Optimistic people get married and have kids." I have great respect for Voddie Baucham. But man alive, I am weary of being told to "get married" as though it's something I can just go out and do. How can I create an available man out of thin air? And even if there was one, I still can't MAKE a man be interested in me and want to marry me. I can't MAKE someone do that! I just don't understand why it's assumed that this is so easy. I am in my 50s. I go to a younger skewing church. There's no one that I've seen. (I don't go to church to date anyway.) But even if I did, there's no one my age that I've seen so far. Again, even if there was such a person, I can't MAKE him interested in me.

    Don't worry about it. God knows your heart. Not everyone is destined to get married. Focus on your relationship with God and knowing His word. You fall in the category of "older women teaching the younger women" mentioned in Timothy. Bless you on your spiritual journey with the Lord.

    Ugh, people quoting Jeremiah 29:11 entirely out of context drives me insane. How about reading the whole paragraph, chapter, and book? I can't stand this nonsense of plucking out verses here and there and expecting to understand them properly! Is that how people read other books? Just grab one off the shelf, open to a random pages, pick a random sentence, and expect to understand what's going on?

    Galatians was not written to you. In fact, all of the Apostle Saul's letters were not written to you. Only James was (100%) written to YOU specifically. Even the letters from Peter, John, Jude, and Revelation were not written to you. The first question to ask is who is this writing written to? and that is located in the beginning of the letter. don't skip it lol.

    This verse My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing. If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways. James 1:2

    I was surprised to hear Pastor Baucham refer to a verse from the ESV. I have ruled out using any version of the Bible except the KJV. For example, read Ezekiel chpt 13 in the KJV, and then compare the same text in the ESV, NIV, or any of the other versions. The other translations change the meaning. In this world that we live in now, the truth is paramount! Before you bark at me about what I just said, check for yourself.

    "It is accurate to speak of Amillennialism as Eschatology of Victory. For Amillennialism is a form of inaugurated eschatology. The belief that Christ has already won the victory and initiated the last days though the kingdom of glory has not yet arrived. What could be more optimistic than to declare that Christ has bound the strong man and is rescuing people from his Kingdom (Matthew 12:29). What could be more of a victory than Jesus to announce as His death and resurrection drew near that "Now is the judgment of this world; now will the ruler of this world be cast out. And I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all people to myself” (John 12:31-32 ESV). Amillennialist proclaim with complete biblical consistency that the Kingdom has come and therefore let us repent and believe and engage in the mission to the nations."
