  Time travel would be a cool mechanic but there has to be a bigger theme if this is going to be a trilogy. Maybe multiverse? Maybe Samus gets powers that can warp reality and shift into different dimensions and stuff like that.

  20X5 was Zero Mission, 20X6 is Federation Force, 20X7 is Samus Returns and Super, and 20X9 is Prime 4. Honestly time travel creating a branching timeline might be for the best at this point since Dread pretty much wrapped up everything plot wise.

  To me, the Pirate design seems to be a mix of the Prime 1 and 3 design, with the same gauntlets and bisecting lower jaw in 3, but with the green face thingies and their iconic purple from 1. Or, they could just be the pirates from 3 without the Phazon that gave them their bluish color scheme.

  Ok, theory time: the Federation has a contained black hole, which is what Sylux is trying to steal. Samus shows up to stop him. The black hole functions as a portal that ends up transporting Samus and Sylux to an ancient world which she ends up saving from both Sylux and a newly discovered threat, Metroids. The ancient world is actually SR388, and the people she saves are the ancient Chozo.

  To add onto the pirate discussion, the explanation the manga gives of their behavior is specifically to the "Zebesians", whereas the Pirates in Prime 2/3 (probly 1 as well) are from "Urtragia" in the Japanese version of. Corruption. I'm not convinced these pirates aren't Urtragian, given they have the Urtragian ships and they seem to have the same mandable structure. My hope is that this is just a specific new armor design we're witnessing, whether as a new class of fighter, a redesign w/o the phazon, or a redesign due to new technology. Regardless, if they are taking the series lore more seriously, Prime 4 has a big task of catching the US canon up to the pirate species being different, how the Urtragian's "high command" likely didn't involve Mother Brain and the Zebesians, etc. They need to clear this stuff up!

  The one thing I could see them do with the time travel idea is maybe to bring back Metroid in the main timeline after samus destroyed all of them ? So the franchise can keep going ?

  To go further with that, "The Baby" would be the one that is rescued (somehow) since that one is able to become a queen Metroid. Alternatively the Metroid 2 queen could be brought back for the same purpose. Personally, I hope they don't go the time travel route because those types of plots are so hard to make work properly.

  I've watched so many videos on the prime 4 trailer, from staged "reaction$" to my favorite twitch prime and super streamers genuinely freaking out like I did but this informative video has been the most organized and easy to follow lore explanation.   Here's an idea with the Mochtroids if this does take place before Super. What if they weren't considering failures and they were recently created by the time Prime 4 takes place, and afterwards, they are considered failures in Super because of the ending of Prime 4. Either that, or they are two different Mochtroid types.

  The whole Prime trilogy, and the manga, make it clear that the Pirates allow anyone who can benefit them to act as their leader, as long as they have something to provide to the pirates through leadership, they can have that leadership, that's what happened with Ridley, Kraid, Mother Brain, Grey Voice temporarily, and partially with Dark Samus (who mainly just sidestepped that by just mind controlling them all). Sylux really just needed to prove he could be ruthless and cunning like Ridley was to prove he could be a strong leader, providing Metroids to them again was just a REALLY GOOD bonus.

  5:40 here the thing. If we're using the d-pad to switch between 4 different sub abilities, used in the same fashion as missiles, just like in the 2D Metroid games. Meaning there's no option for beam switching, like in Prime 3. Then that means beam upgrades are going to stack, like Prime 3. Meaning the traditional weapon and item control scheme of 2D Metroid has finally beam translated 1 to 1 into 3D, minus the fact that the sub items themselves have their own fire button separate from the beam.

  It seems like scanning is a toggle maybe done with one of the triggers so maybe that will be the case with beams or the beams will go into those three open spaces by the missiles. My main question is what other sub weapons could fill those slots

  @@bluefates58 Probably completely new abilities. The "top bar" item system as seen in Super Metroid really hasn't ever been iterated upon, all the abilities it once contained have been streamlined into Samus's control scheme by now. Fusion and Zero Mission both only had 1 and 2 other items other than missiles respectively, both of which were carry overs from Super. Dread fully did away with it completely, Super Missiles are just an upgrade, Power Bombs have their own activation method while in Morph Ball, the Grapple Beam is on a trigger, regular Missiles are just on the shoulder button, and the X-Ray Visor isn't even there, being replaced by the Pulse Radar on the D-Pad. Prime 4 seems like it’s taking the opportunity to finally put some new gadgets in Samus's item slots, there's endless potential there.

  Unless holding the d-pad input brings up an item switching menu, so you could hold right on the d-pad, navigate between different missile options (regular, super, ice, storm, etc) then release back into gameplay, like Doom or Zelda.

  Maybe beams will be a point system where they stack like super but you can only have so much on at a time. Would be cool as you could experiment with different combinations and they could make secretes where you find beam modifiers

  @@redditor7548 That would be so cool, much more interesting than finding 100 missile 2-packs for the entire game. What if by stacking the correct combos they just manifested as whole recreations of past beam weapons. Like you stack a Cold modifier with a Long modifier and boom, you've discovered the Judicator. Crazy enough to just stack Long with itself as much as possible? The Imperialist is yours.
